When I played this series, the very first thing I did was beat Normal and Hard Mode in CRE. It felt really poetic beating Cabin Fever 2 (and the entire EpicTagey FNaW series) 100% and the very last thing I beat, was Normal and Hard Mode in this game. it's not very readable in the game either, but basically some guy talked to a future version of himself about shroobs and an elder queen and he brought something back to the present with him
It's a log by Professor E Gadd, who was making a time machine for Mario, and accidentally sends himself into the future, where he talks to his future self, who tells him about the events of Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. After going back to the present, he notes that he feels like something followed him, dismissing it as the portrait ghosts, which he's soon going to sell, which would lead to the events of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. He also notes that he doesn't remember any of the ghosts in his collection having orange pupils, which implies that he was followed back to the present by The Fake Developer.
Fun fact: Now that you've beaten the Cross Game Quest, if you go back to Custom Room Edition, you now have the ability to toggle a fake developer skin for Wario.
