comfort item is something you can bring outside your TO&E to provide you comfort in a field, flashlight is one of those TO&E, you don't count them as comfort item. Most women I know bring their plushie toy, most guys I know usually bring their personal entertainment (Handheld console and portable music device) My comfort item when I was deployed in the middle east is a Pillow my mother made, it beat the heck out of the standard issue
In my eyes there are 2 different type of recruits you get. Those that want to serve and those that want benefits, of course there can be crossover but generally speaking. You do not need to recruit the 1st group but you do the 2nd. Telling them to serve does nothing in this approach. Make the service great and celebrate one another in what you do and focus more on training instead of bullshit. Offer more incentives or actually give them what you've already promised. We are suppose to be the best and in many ways we are but there are plenty of pain points we've known of for decades that go relatively unfixed because of politicking. We are the US Armed Forces...we have one job at the end of the day, stop worrying about everything else.
You missed his interview with another podcast with another ex-SF guy He value standard and discipline more than number, he wants recruit that are motivated and not solely because of financial and benefits. Because Weimer think once those recruit got what they wanted (mostly GI Bill) their motivation ceased, and they will leave. He believe in people that are motivated to join rather than just people we need to fill the rank, that's the way we can get back to be professional warfighter and increase standard and discipline.
True Soldier right there! Whoever signed off on Tuna Noodle to make it in the 12 meal round up probably has never taste tested the monstrosity he/she created. Give me the Spaghetti or Beans and Franks and I'm good... I know how to dress em up.
I keep hearing about sergeant majors from US/mil channels? What even is it? What do these people do and why is that guy specifically special? (Try to pronounce specifically special 3 times fast)
Sergeants Major are the senior enlisted rank. They are the enlisted representative to the headquarters element of a command that is battalion/squadron level or higher, to include overall command of each branch of service. There is one Sergeant Major of the Army, one Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, one Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy and one Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force.
That's not the SF Delta operators little buddy... its the infiltration of foreign assisted transvestite agents and DEI hires strategically placed through the country.... but they're all spotted now jaja
For him it was. Serving his entire career in special forces, as a Green Beret and then as a Delta Force operator. Had he been a mechanic or clerk then it would've been a different story.
I’m 49 & retired a few years now. I just listened to him for the first time yesterday, and I really liked what I heard. He seems like what the army needs. But one thing he won’t acknowledge is that the recruiting problem stems from the woke agenda. I will never sign the paperwork for my kids to go in at 17 like my parents did for me. I come from a military tradition.. The army has a real PR problem ever since they went woke and also forced everyone to get the job. I hope things turn around because I really do love the army end my country.
@@johnkaspar462 I’m not trolling if you think there’s a woke agenda in the damn military you’re lost. If you think they’re teaching anything different in school today than 20 years ago when I was in school…you’re lost…people are just trying to make it…some people just want rights…nothing woke…nothing different…people are just as racist and homophobic today as they were yesteryear. The only slight difference is people are starting to fight back when they get bullied by Neanderthals.
I signed up pre-9/11 and went to ROTC and got out mid 2000 as a CPT. I don't think woke is the issue here. The military was in decline even before I left. Long before woke is even a thing. The people WAS the issue, not whether or not they are woke. Like the SMA said, standards and disciplines are core in the military, the force we have now (and had when i got out) lacked both. That's because 2 operations had stretched our resource into the extreme, the army started to recruit below standard (both physical and character) into their rank and started to "Commercially" recruit people by dangling money and benefit in front of them, the standard is gone, and the discipline went with it. And that basically overcome the TRADOC command and they turn out worse and worse recruit every year. I remember the first squad I had in charge when I was a 2LT fresh out of OCS, and just 8 years' time it was replaced by a bunch of high school reject incompetent that aren't motivated and discipline at all. That's the issue, not with Woke and other stuff, those, believe it or not, is a very small part in the military.
How would you solve the recruiting problem? This dude: tell people.....serving your nation. Me: fuck beards, pay increase, changing the regulations on recreational Marijuana or creating more ranks to retain tech valued jobs. This dude: no. *breaths in* serving your country.
All those reasons to assist are bandaids to the real problem. And the pay is fine when you already have a lot of services paid for. A big problem right now I believe has to do with the current administration as well as the current modern American. No one feels patriotism when a demented old fuck who is getting shitted on the ass is your leader as global powers try to nibble on us. Everyone is propagandized by the Chinese, and we are fucked.
