If you’ve never experienced Lexus before, yeah this is great. For the people who are coming from the LX models and the LC models this is an absolute disappointment. The headliners and all the interior panels are just Toyota with Lexus. Brandon slapped on them. Congratulations Lexus you upgraded the software and the looks and completely downgraded the interior and the luxury welldone you, played yourselves.
Its a luxurious tank tho. If ur gonna buy it for 80k then ur probably gonna keep it for a while. Idk about off-roading tho. I wouldn’t want to scratch it. Thats why a 4runner might be a better deal imo. Much cheaper same build quality.
Plus 10-15k dealer markup for at least the first two years. I can’t even find a Sienna at list price. Every dealership I’ve been to wants 3-5k over sticker and this generation Sienna’s been out since 2021.
The original Land Rover had a roundish design and the original Land Cruiser had a squarish design. I'd say the GX550 (a.k.a. Land Cruiser 250, a.k.a. Land Cruiser Prado) is just getting back to its roots rather than it looling like a Land Rover.
Yeah many people are saying it looks like a Defender but it looks more like the Land Cruiser and I think that was the intention, not to do some copycat, it’s not a Chinese brand after all lol
The problem is people pay it. If they refused to pay it, it wouldn't happen. A lot of times it's the people that can't afford it and gets repo'd too@@kpmmsupervision1297
My assessment is based on what I observed at the Auto Show in California. For comparing this SUV, I recommend examining others. To attend, both my wife and I had to pay a $30 fee, and I was particularly eager to personally see the Lexus GX due to the hype surrounding it as a large off-road SUV. Before I outline the positives and negatives, I want to express my anticipation spanning decades for the GX to unveil a new design. However, I am disappointed with what I encountered. Pros: * The shape is commendable, featuring a perfect boxy design akin to competitors such as the Defender, Jeep Cherokee, and GMC. * While the central infotainment system is not groundbreaking, it maintains consistency with other Lexus models, which is acceptable. * Cons: * There are numerous drawbacks. The model I viewed exceeded $77k and lacked the ML sound system. * The absence of a panoramic sunroof, now a standard feature in modern vehicles, detracts from the luxurious experience. * The panoramic sunroof in the Luxury+ model is underwhelming and seems to mimic the idea from the Venza, which has been on the market for over six years. * The quality of leather and interior falls short compared to other SUVs in the same price range. Even the Toyota Highlander boasts superior interior quality. * The exterior feels excessively plastic, particularly upon contact with the bumper, hood, and other body panels. * Leather quality across all trims is subpar. * Fuel economy poses a significant issue in 2024, averaging only 17 mpg. * Many materials exude a cheap feel, failing to deliver a luxurious experience. * If one opts for all available options on the Lexus GX 550, it may be preferable to choose the LX 600, which offers a higher level of luxury and power. * For a better depiction of luxury, consider examining the Infiniti QX80: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NMzD7nLQlDY.html I've been a longtime enthusiast of this SUV, but now, even surpassing $80k plus tax, it's hardly worth the investment. In 2024, there's a myriad of alternative options I've contemplated, including the Ford F150 Electric, Rivian, Cybertruck, GMC Denali AT4, Sequoia, and the Volkswagen Atlas Off-Road version, among others, boasting advanced technology and commendable qualities. Toyota and Lexus seem to be marketing very basic vehicles under the guise of reliability. Many individuals I conversed with at the auto show shared my sentiment that the GX 550 pales in comparison to the 460 in terms of quality, feeling cheaply constructed. Toyota and Lexus, with many Toyota dealers hyping these vehicles on social media to attract buyers. This SUV no longer epitomizes luxury, not by a long shot. If you disregard reliability and juxtapose it against brands like BMW, Audi, and Land Rover, it's disheartening to witness its decline. Purchasing this vehicle entails enduring it for another six years solely to mitigate depreciation, while numerous other automakers are already introducing superior and more advanced technology. At present, I must explore alternative options, as this SUV is not worth $85k out of the door, if you're fortunate enough. Best wishes with your new purchase. Just bear in mind, many individuals are compensated for endorsing Toyota and Lexus brands, and I've encountered numerous instances of Toyota dealers leveraging social media to generate interest in these vehicles. In conclusion, this is merely my perspective. Enjoy your new purchase
Its using their's tundra's engine, which is defective, by the way, at least in 24 models . That's not a special treatment in 80k + suv compared to other luxury segments . My two cents 😂😂
The 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+; the absolute best all-around SUV currently on the market. For its price range nothing else could touch it. It’s also the most practical, beautifully designed, and financially-viable overland adventure vehicle out there. However, if I had to nitpick, I would have opted for/added a larger fuel tank to extend its range and better suit it for the remote overland / long-distance adventures.
What’s interesting is that it’s competing with itself 😮 The 4Runner, the Land Cruiser, even those they may be in a smaller suv class they all compete in the off road space.
@@034e-i3o there’s no pattern, it’s just a given that when you add turbos and make the engine smaller, there’s gonna be issues, the old 5.7 shouldn’t have left, it was a extremely reliable engine.
GX460 started around 55k. 10k increase in 1 year. On par with the ridiculous Toyota prices right now. These companies keep driving inflation, not the government.
For the people worried about the reliability, it’s a little different than the tundra . The GX is built in Japan and the main bearing part number is different from the tundra.
Don’t ever compare it to a Land Rover please. That’s insulting. It looks more like a modern version with style cues from the 76 series Land Cruiser. Although I do like the land rovers and there legendary off road capabilities that can match with the Land Cruiser. I just don’t like how unreliable they are.
@@mikobel7131They have a huge one if the battery fails. 🤣 Lot of electrical crap failing no ordinary mechanic can fix so you have to wait months or years for fix.
@@BarrelTitor91 good point with a big IF. will some have battery failures, sure. Will most of them have battery replacement failures, not likely. Most will have lower battery capacity when you get past 10 plus years of ownership but by that time you’ll have saved thousands on maintenance and gas savings. More power to you if you want give away your money for outdated tech and overpriced Toyota reliability that runs sub20 mpgs on premium.
@@mikobel7131 Toyotas run 50+ MPG. If you talk about big ass trucks with off road tires of course those will have 25 MPG. If you compare el. and gas availability only those with houses with solar panels will save cash. Most people live in flats and have to use regular chargers which there are not that many and the cost of those is wayy more than paying for gas or diesel. The cost of battery replacement is wayy higher than the cost of new car. It wont save any cash or pay back itself unless you own smart house. If it did why no one is buying them and why are hybrids the most popular and ecomomical choice of uber and taxi divers? Why are there lawsuits against car batteries lasting wayy less than advertised? Why is there excess amount of el. but no one is investing heavily in el. car charging?
Anyone complaining about mpg is neither a buyer themselves for this class of vehicle nor understand buyer’s of these vehicles don’t give a damn about MPG…
I don't know about the Lexus GX over Trail it has massaging seats which I love but the trim level structure is confusing if the luxury + is more expensive than the Overture Plus shouldn't the luxury place be the most expensive option kitchen level is confusing I might just have to go for a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe
No one will legitimately cross shop any Kia/Hyundai. Santa Fe is cool but not a competitor. Anyone looking at the Santa Fe class will be cross shopping lower cost suvs to begin with.
The luxury and luxury plus are aimed at people that spend most of their time on the road, the Overtrail plus has the off road bits like swaybar disconnect and MTS (off road traction control) and diff locks.
This is getting slated in owner reviews as not being as good as its predecessor in terms of interior quality and ride/engine performance, despite the exterior looking nice
I see they copied a lot of things that are standard in a Range Rover or Range Rover sport. These things are not standard on this though and come as expensive options
It's less than competition because it is practically the higher trim level of the Toyota Sequoia just different badging ...Not a completely bad thing but lets call a spade a spade
For more than half off at $40K you can get a base Grand Highlander. My heart wants this Lexus GX but this economy and my bank account are telling me just go GH lmao.
