City hall keeps making it more and more unaffordable by building high end condos instead of affordable housing. They just want keep the city unaffordable.
I think that Kitsilano is very prestige place to live MZ generation of young couples in vintage spot but enjoying modern life style on 4th street , peaceful beach spots to indulge nostalgia of old Vancouver-rites. They are keeping old spirit of community as like heritage village but over budget to have spacious nest near by beach & park. I wish to live rest of life there not by rarely passer by casually as a stranger on beaches seasonally after fell down & burned out of toiling & moiling stress out of boring life. Good luck for David Crawford!!!
I am a student from India. My university will be UCW. I am coming in sept23. Will it be good to stay in kitsilano? Commuting is convenient for student?
Pluses and minuses... 1. Driving is a pain there. No highway and the closest Skytrain is at Burrard and Broadway, the far east end of Kits. This for me is a negative. 2. Green. A plus 3. No new developments compared to Coquitlam. I don't know if it is a city by-law, but I like this because I am fond of old houses. I went there two years ago after not having lived there since 1970. It basically looked the same. 4. Fewer Chinese than Burnaby. I am neutral on this point. 5. Sucks for shopping at RCSS (superstore), T&T and Walmart. Must go downtown for T&T. Others don't exist. A negative. 6. Vegetarian restaurant: the best and one of the oldest - Naam. A positive 7. While not socially conservative, it is not homosexual male central like West End. A positive for some, a negative for others. 8. Ditto for lesbians compared to Commercial Drive
It's overpriced. The city needs to do something to drastically decrease rental prices. They need to build affordable housing that is below market not all these high end condos. Kits is not worth the price people are pricing rentals.
