The five key areas that I discuss for ensuring perfect dried everlasting flowers that will really make all the difference to achieving naturally dried, colourfully textured dried flowers are:
1.) Cutting & Conditioning
2.) Drying techniques
3.) Stoarge
4.) When to cut
5.) Unique ingrédients
If you have been thinking about creating everlasting arrangements using your own garden grown flowers and have had limited success with drying, or are concerned about the quality of dried flowers you can achieve, then this video shares exactly how to ensure sucessfull dried everlastings every time. Perhaps you have been buying dried flowers that you now realise have been treated with chemical treatments such as bleach. It does take time, energy and research to find more sustainable alternatives. I believe that each of us can make a difference individually to helping the environment. Starting with making your own dried flowers, I discuss the practical steps that you can take to ensure a really beautiful, naturally dried flower that can be kept for many years.
If you would like to hear more about our sustainable floristry and how you could start to change the way you do things florally, you can also follow our instagram account @fierceblooms.

Thank you for this! I'm a straight white male and have always bought myself flowers, one bouquet dried out incredibly well just in a dry vase and I've been trying to recreate it, so this helped tremendously!

Thank you so much for your advice! I'm on a budget when it comes to purchasing flowers, but if I can have beautiful dry flowers, it can extend the amount of time I get to enjoy them!

This video has been the most helpful out of the TONS of videos I've watched on drying flowers. This is my 2nd year ( last year I really did not pay much attention to what I was doing) so this year I really wanted to be mindful of keeping everything natural but preserved well. Thank you sharing your extensive knowledge, especially about prepping and keeping out of direct sunlight and storing. WOW, what a difference from last year in color for my flowers and grasses!

hello! amazing and useful content. I do have a question, I've tried drying flowers, particularly foliages however I do notice that once dried they tend to fall off their stems easily. I also tried drying Statice however the flowers too also do fall off their stems easily once dried! is this common? or is there something I did wrong whilst drying them? is there a way to fix brittle dried flowers? Hope to hear from you soon! thank you once again for the great videos!

This video has been the most helpful for dehydrating fresh flowers. I want some clarity on a few steps. How do you keep the colour fading away over time? Is there a certain coating that can be done on them? How to do you protect the flowers from any insects etc over time?

Do you have any experience with drying Australian wax flowers? I dried some that came in a bouquet of flowers, and they were definitely not fresh, but I thought i may as well see what happens. They completely curled up their petals into little balls, and I'm wondering if this is what they usually look like dried, or just because they weren't at their peak. I can't actually seem to find many photos of dried wax flowers online for some reason! I love your videos by the way :) they're easy and relaxing to watch and so informative. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge 🏵🌻

This a such a wonderful video! Thank you so much for putting in the time to make this and to share your knowledge with others! 🥰 In the part about storage you mentioned using an elastic band to keep the individual flower bundles together - is this just for after they have been dried or can elastic bands also be used for the air-drying process? I have just read somewhere else that the elastic band can slip when the flowers shrink (in the process of air-drying)
@Alex-mw2eq
@Alex-mw2eq Год назад
im not sure but i think that if you make the band tight enough it shouldnt be a problem as long as the band isnt too old so it doesnt fall apart

Hello how long can the flowers be in the boxes wrapped with paper? Thanks
@fierceblooms
@fierceblooms 2 дня назад
Years! Depending on what flowers- helichrysum for example will keep its saturated colour for at least 3 years whereas white dried flowers will “fade” more quickly- hope that helps
@melodywhealdon4682
@melodywhealdon4682 Год назад
Do you find that the yarrow/moonshine or cloth of gold-sheds pollen easily. Of all the flowers I have dried, this one is the messiest, which is unfortunate, because it is such a rich color dried. Maybe I am picking it the wrong time? Or is it just the nature of it.
@fierceblooms
@fierceblooms Год назад
I actually don’t find that in all honesty- I wait until the small flowers have fully formed and I think that will avoid that issue- hopefully that’ll help

Have you been able to dry hypericum berries, retaining the bright red colour . My hypericum is looking its best mid Summer, long gone come Christmas and I'd love to be able to retain a noticeable red
@fierceblooms

short answer is no Alison - have an experiment and give it plenty of time - i suspect they may tuen to black rather then retain their red but yoi never know

@fierceblooms yes I suspect they'll be black! Buy I'll pick a few early while they're at their best and try maybe to dry them quickly if that makes any sense. It would be great if they even had a hint of red .thanks for coming back to me .

Hi fierce blooms , I’m just starting out drying. I have a large allotment full of flowers but I can find a definitive info on drying amaranth, I’m not sure where to cut or whether they will become stiff. and do you know anything about teddy bear sunflowers.
