I’m coming up on nearly 6 years driving an e-Golf (leased 24 kWh for 3 years and then purchased 36 kWh). I love the car like you do. The e-tron is amazingly inefficient. I do push my car’s range a few times a year so a bigger (~50 kWh) pack would make this car truly spectacular but I manage. Great around town car and serene on the highways, too.

Hey Steve we bought an egolf about 4 months ago. Like you we have had nothing but happy journeys with it. It’s just such an easy car to live with. Would not go back to a petrol diesel car. Thx for another video.

We took delivery of our E-Golf last week and absolutely love it! It's a quirky and capable car for everyday and so affordable! Great videos keep them coming :)

Hi Steve! You are so right about the e-Golf. I‘m already thinking about what I‘ll do when my lease ends... Return for an ID.x or purchase. We like our Golf so much and drive him so much more than we thought because it is just so relaxing. Definitely one of the most underrated cars of the last three years. All the haters are so wrong, I think the e-Golf is so good even because it is build on a ICE platform.

It’s got the most personality of any car I’ve driven! Like a modern day ‘Herbie’.

I love my egolf. It’s it’s one year anniversary in a week. I feel like I’ve not had any summer benefit this year due to covid and my health but I’ve had fun in every journey. A few nervous moments in range (self inflicted pushing it to its limits ;)). I honestly think the range is it’s only negative. If this did 200 miles easy and say 150 in winter. I’d be a very happy boy. 3 years left on lease. I only hope in that time they decide to bring a new egolf out as I expect range and speed of charging will have come on leaps and bounds.

I had to give my leased e-Golf back recently and it was the best car I've ever had. Now I'm looking forward to getting an ID.3 and I'm sure it'll be even better.

Hey Steve, love your videos about e-Golf. We bought our e-Golf (lightly used) model 2020, six weeks ago. And my smile is just like yours. MAX HAPPY! Never had a better and so playful car (limousine) in 40 years . My diesel (2.0 TDI 190 HP/ 440 Nm/ lowered and 18 inch alloy) is not nearly as interesting anymore, although torque and top speed are significantly higher. Please bring more e-Golf videos ...

ID3 is even more eager. RWD for the win! On the flip side, the regen on B is nowhere near as strong as it should (and will) be. Loved ❤️the smart ACC that slows down when the road bends

Hi Steve, great video and beautiful assistant. Check the ID.4, make a video about that. I own an e-Golf like you and then I made a reservation for an ID.4 PRO AWD, please check that car.

The Etron isn't inefficient, it's just big. Just like a Q8 would use more diesel or petrol than a golf or an A3... I personally prefer the lack of regen off the accelerator pedal... The Etron rolls for days coasting, and almost all of the braking is regen when you need it. I think they are both very good first gen EVs for VAG. Not so keen on the id3... Trying too hard to be 'futuristic' but the golf and Etron are both more like everyday modern cars

Regen on the etron is OK, not the strongest but not as poor as you make out IMO. Set to Automatic regen the car will by default 'coast' when you let off the throttle. Auto mode will do regen for you when approaching roundabouts or obstacle in the road, slower cars in front etc. I think its a bit too intrusive/sensitive. The paddles let you override auto with 2 levels. The strongest is weaker than some EVs, granted, but not too bad. In manual regen mode, you have to use the paddles to set regen level. So you can choose to coast (more efficient than regen) or regen (when you would need to brake). This is pretty good. Then, there's the brake pedals which are brake by wire. Press the brakes and you engage regen first, with physical calipers+brakes last or in strong braking situations. So...the audi has something for everyone when it comes to regen. Maybe jack of all trades master of none? Steve, just thought I'd put this here for you/your viewers to explain the regen on the Audi. If you own it it takes a while to learn it. Loving your channel. Great content, great presentation. Keep it going!

Hey Steve Can I ask have you replaced the Tesla with the E-tron? We love our E-Golf, we just need to purchase another EV to replace our 7 seater.

Hi Miles! No, the Tesla got rear ended so I had it for a month. The e-Tron has some really good elements but I was glad to get back in my Tesla. Here’s the full playlist for the e-Tron: ru-vid.com/group/PLvWIWt_PRaIXGNK5J0ew6Fx20zlfBaiIq

I was thinking of getting an e golf as my next car,but can anybody tell me if you have high regen on and your using it like in the video slowing down behind the van, do the brake lights come on?
@SteveJulien
@SteveJulien 3 года назад
Hi, yes when regen comes on, so do the brake lights. Normally we drive with full regen on around town and no regen on motorways. Here’s the full playlist, it’s a cracking car! ru-vid.com/group/PLvWIWt_PRaIU-_opZU2BWUgxJ6QjLKvnc

Hi what is your real take on heating and not having a heat pump . I have one coming without and now worried I’m going to loose loads of range say if I keep the car on 20 all the time as that’s what I normally do very rare turn it up unless it’s to warm the car up first
@SteveJulien
@SteveJulien 3 года назад
You’ll be fine without it but it will give you a bit more range. Without, as a rule of thumb we get: Winter: 100 miles. Spring/ Autumn 120 miles. Summer 130+ miles.

I've noticed you have virtual mirrors on your e-tron. How good are they? I'm asking because I've heard very conflicting reports as to their usefulness.

I believe the E-tron regenerates in a different way? It can re-gen when you release the accelerator but it also happens when you press the brake pedal which basically becomes a 're-gen pedal'. Its not as strong re-gen as other makes of EV but it works really well. There's a decent explanation in this review (insideevs.com/news/341641/the-nitty-gritty-details-on-audis-two-pedal-ev-braking-system/)
