Wow, I never heard/knew about the hand test for people with a short torso. It makes perfect sense to me now. Somehow I just knew not to wear a wide belt, I stay with small/medium ones. Now I know the reason they don't look good. Thanks for this info.

Hi Erin, I am happy with your videos very informative, I noticed you wore close shoes while wearing a belt my question is can I possibly wear belt while wearing sandals? How about the color of the metal of the belt should it be match with the color of your accessories or jewelry?

Hey Erin - loved this and really needed it. One question. When you where the belt over the cardigan, how do you get your cardigan to be the perfect “closed”? Do you overlap that front just a touch or an inch or not at all and when you cinch the belt it pulls it together? I can’t ever seem to make it look right. :(

I would also add from experience that for those of us with a short torso and big bust, wearing your waist belt lower than your natural waist (think bellybutton area) is more flattering.

Super helpful video...thanks. I have a hard time with waist belts due to the "girls on a shelf" look - LOL! I stick with the hipster belt and that suits my shape much better. Love the Ferragamo belt - got one after watching one of your videos!

My belly button is so far down below my bust line, that it surprised me. I’m only 5’4” and I have a low bust. Once, a professional told me I was evenly proportioned and I guess she was right. It’s just that I thought my belly button would be higher up using this two hand method. It really pays to know your own body type and shape.

Another question...You are showing leather belts...what about the stretchy belts we are seeing nowadays, and those metal chain type belts. I received one as a gift and I love it but the excess chain hangs down so far! Am I supposed to just let it hang? Looks odd to me!

They are new by Japanese line called Moussy and they sell out SO quickly that this pair is gone. I found a similar pair here: rstyle.me/n/cvbuwx58an They are expensive, but SO good on petite ladies. Erin xo

For anyone on a very strict budget, like me (Disabled Veteran on disability), don't forget about Poshmark, Tradesy, or similar apps. I've purchased high end clothing and accessories on Poshmark for a fraction of the price of buying new. Recently, I also lucked into a black pair of authentic Stuart Weitzman ankle boots for only $35...and they don't even look like they've been worn! There's no shame in wearing second-hand high end fashion when it will look better, last longer, and is cheaper than shopping at Target! 😁

Busbee Style - You're not going to believe this... you mentioned Consignment Stores, and I suddenly remembered the first pair of ankle boots I bought at a Consignment Store at the end of the season last year for $11 (I didn't wear them as often because the heel is almost a stiletto and I've had 3 foot surgeries), so I looked up the Brand name. Turns out to be a DESIGNER bootie by Roberto Del Carlo, and I found the same bootie in brown - the original price was $515!!! I had them in my "For Sale" stuff in the guest bedroom closet - getting ready to start SELLING my old stuff now that I've finally replaced my entire wardrobe after losing over 70 pounds - but I might hold onto them now, OR make a nice little profit. Thank you so much for replying to my comment and jogging my memory, Erin. You are absolutely STUNNING and I love your videos! I just don't comment on all of them because I always write comments that are too long. HAHA! Have a fabulous day! 😁😁😁

I love belts but haven't seen much about them in a long time, so thanks for the reminder of how to make them work! I also love the belt over the coat...but what do you do with it when you take your coat off, say at dinner, if there aren't loops to hold it in place? Thanks for your always-practical advice!

I would just throw it into your bag, making sure to carry a bag that can hold the belt. I think most belted coats will have loops, though. Thank YOU for watching!! Erin xo

I wear shirts untucked and fitted sweaters a lot but find my skinny jeans tend to slide down by the end of the day. I would wash and dry them after each use to tighten them up. I just recently bought a no show belt where the buckle doesn’t show. This has been a game changer for me because I can now wear my skinny jeans multiple days in a row and I don’t have to keep pulling them up.

The Invisibelt? I used to recommend that a lot. It works! I think the solution is to buy a pair of jeans that really fit you or have the waist tailored. Maybe you've lost weight? Or maybe these were really inexpensive jeans?

I love belts and your styling tips were great!! I have a couple of belts from ADA Collection and my favorite is the midi wrap belt, but they have a wider and skinny version. Most of the belts are one size and very versatile because you can tie them in so many different ways. I’m obsessed with the brand.

So helpful, thanks! I’m 53, so we tucked everything in, including sweaters in the 80’s! Skinny belts and belting sweaters were a big thing too. I can’t even do those things much anymore without feeling dated. So your tips were helpful! Although I doubt I’d ever tuck a sweater again!😊😉

There are no hard and fast rules for black/brown anymore. Matching your shoes and accessories is a safe and classic. Mixing your neutrals is a bit more fashion forward.

My torso is quite long (space remaining between my hands and belly button). Perhaps that’s why I have trouble finding jumpsuits that don’t give me a wedgie! Great video - thank you. I always learn so much! Love you!

Great suggestion! I typically suggest going with a reversible black and honey brown belt. You can choose the hardware based on your preference, but I usually grab for my gold buckles. Bonus points if you can find a two toned buckle. xo

Hi Erin, I love all your helpful videos and your wonderful personality! I love your reversible Ferragamo belt, but should I get a “Sized” or “Adjustable” one? The adjustable one comes only in 100cm, and I am assuming I would have to cut the belt myself at home. If I have to order a size, I just don’t know which length to get. I am 5’4 and 116 lb and will be using the belt mostly for mid rise jeans and pants. Thanks!

I just love you, Erin! I love belts, I have 2 belt dressed drawers. Also as an older girl after menopause, it's very common to gain a little bit of back fat! Not pretty! So the half-tuck is awesome for that problem. I'm working on how to lose an inch or 2 back their right now.

From personal experience, Target belts don't hold up very well if you're wearing them frequently.

I love TARGET...BUT.. not necessarily for belts or bags. I think they always LOOK cute... but will not hold up that well. The reversible belt I'm wearing was something I inherited from my sweet mother-in-law (so it's been around a LONG time).. a belt by Salvatore Ferragamo. I like the size and look of the buckle.
