This is a pre-release of the version 2.0 firmware update for the Vector sequencer by Five12. The new firmware is not yet a public release, but I’m going to run through some of the features you can expect to enjoy when it is all done.
@@GuitarsAndSynths needs to be a USB class compliant LP and yes just connect and go. Some people find they need to update LP firmware. I haven’t tested all LPs but this is the Launchpad X and it works well. Email Jim at five12 if you want to know which launchpad are recommended.
This is exactly the info I was looking for on this new firmware, excited to see support for more than 8 steps on mono parts, this makes the Vector even better than ever. IMO better than the Eloquencer (which I owned for a short time) now.
@@steveturner1815 Awesome, I just tried it with my Vector and Launchpad Pro Mk3 and am not getting the session view. I have the 1.9.24 firmware installed, and can see the Laucnhpad in the Global menu, but it's not doing anything else. I tried a couple different cables with same result. Any suggestions?
@@nexgen91 yeah so make certain your LP PRO MK3 has the LATEST firmware. Other PRO users have seen similar issues (I think) and they have been fixed by an LP fw update. Let me know please!

This is fantastic! I would love to see more modular gear integrate with common USB controllers to expand the UI of existing functionality. Btw what was the sound source on part 1, it sounded great!
Pretty sure I was using a Studio Electronics Tonestar 2600 there. And thanks for the lovely comment. A lot of new stuff has happened in vector land since this video too.
@@steveturner1815 I thought it might have been the 2600! I watched a few videos on it but none of them sounded as tasty as what you had playing! I think you have some sync going on, I loved it! Definitely will be keeping my eye on that module for the future and looking forward to hearing more of your stuff!
Nice Demo of the newer/older Vector features. Damn I need to get myself a Launchpad and the expander and update the firmware! Which OSC did you use for the monophonic Synth part? Sounds great IMO.
Thanks for the introduction Steve - I just received my LP Pro and playing around with it connecting to the Vector is a revelation. Still exploring but right now I am wondering if velocity info is ignored when entering e.g. drum parts (or any sequence notes)? Or do I miss something?
@@steveturner1815 it actually does for notes but not for drums, which, given that there is only one velocity lane for a drum track, might be on purpose.
Very interesting. My problem with the vector so far is that I find it not so easy to jam and create in realtime (though it could be my lack of skill). Do you feel like this opens it up as a live performance instrument?
Daniel Riera Everyone thinks and acts differently. I am reasonably OK with jamming on the vector all by itself but I must say the launch pad as an extension of the user interface does indeed provide a really intuitive way to jam in real time.
@@steveturner1815 this provides similar fun jam interface like the pads on the BSP and WMD Metron. So it can be a game changer and definitely more playable than other complex modular sequencers like the Eloquencer for sure.
@@GuitarsAndSynths yeah I think so. The main drawback of the best step pro is you have no visual feedback on which note is which or the gates or anything really. It’s a great tool, but it annoys me everytime I use it in little ways. The vector has that final piece of visual feedback. It’s expensive but I think it’s the best sequencer available.
that vector changed itself to BWD here at 9:43. mine does glitchy shit like that sometimes too. not a big deal as Jim is so good at constantly updating firmware with new features and bug fixes. It's a great sequencer
That is bizarre. Maybe I started the dial a bit early as it was changing sequence. I have literally NEVER seen my Vector do that before or since. Good eye Nick. Remember the firmware I am using was basically the first iteration of Launchpad integration so... Unsurprising something went wrong.
@@steveturner1815 i watched it again a couple times. changed itself. it's a sentient being. Can the drum tracks folow 32 steps on the launchpad? will have to try tomorrow.
hello Im having some issues with my vector and could use some help.i currently have my vector clocked from Ableton via Intellijel umidi,i hooked up its cv outs in my rack and it ran smoothly with abletons clock, then I hooked up my bass station 2 via the vectors midi din output, once I played the same pattern on the bass station it was way off beat, 50 ms off to be exact, but the modular was still on beat, then I adjusted abletons latency settings that are being sent to the umidi again to set the bass station on beat but once I did that the modules in my rack were off beat, basically if one thing is in time something else isn’t. I switched to usb b but still had the same problem. Any help with this issue would be great.
Ariam Hi mate. So I gave up on USB midi to Eurorack a long time ago. A far tighter time sync is achieved via something like cv tools, or Silent Ways SW Sync vst. It sends clock and run type audio via tour audio interface output to your clock inputs on your modules.
Ariam the other thing you can do is adjust latency offset from ableton maybe. I don’t use it so I’m not sure. Have you joined the users Facebook group?
It’s cool but I wish there was some way to use it to have more steps available. I think the biggest draw back of any eurorack sequencer is how most only show 8 steps at a time, when most songs that are released have 64, or 128 steps of changing info. I really wish that the part chaining process was streamlined for song creation. Which to be fair it already is compress to any other sequencer I know of sans daw or some $2000 one of giant thing with a million knobs. But a guy can dream lol
