Fix a Broken Door Knob 

Out of ALL the videos that ive seen this is the ONLY one that helped me out. After destroying part of the door knob. I decided to search for an answer on here. Ive checked like 30 videos. THANK YOU!

I have a double lock door knob. My partner used your video to repair the loose knob handle. It worked; now I feel secured at my dorm. . . You're channel is awesome !!!

Thanks Tim. I would have never been able to fix mine without watching this video. For other people out there that have no holes at all on the doorknob (like mine) I ended up just turning the cover plate (or I think Tim called it the escutcheon plate) and it ended up hitting a spot where the plate popped out about a quarter inch from the door which exposed a little lever that I moved up about an inch with a small screwdriver and this allowed the door handle and the cover plate to be removed

Thankyou for this video--I had a door knob with a cover plate hiding the screws and other videos seem to only show how to remove door knobs that have openly accessible screws. It was a relief to finally find your instructions!

I gotta be honest, this was the best video. The doorknob to my kids bathroom has been broken for sometime. I kept trying to fix it with no luck, it just kept coming off. I have relatives coming in town for the holidays. I said to myself, I have to get this doorknob fixed, they will need to use it, to lock it for privacy purposes. I ran across this video, and after months of a broken doorknob, the doorknob is now fixed as of 10 minutes ago. Had no idea I had to take the entire doorknob offTHANKS!

Thank you. I have been battling my 1948 doorknob for 2 years now. All I needed to see was that little button and your flat head screwdriver and I went,..."ooooohhhhhh" I ran to my tool kit, and wouldn't you know it, the handle popped right off, and I fixed the door. Thank you. Very helpful.

I have a door stuck in a closed position, the latch just won't open when either side of the handle is turned. I wanted to remove the knob but didn't know how, couldn't remove the handle to get to the screws. I'll try again, thanks a lot :)....!!!!!!

My door knob actually has a allen screw that holds into place, that I didn't know was there until I saw your helpful video. Until I saw your clip, I didn't know what to do. Thank you for sparing me hours of fustration.

In my case, the problem is that the door handle has come off and I am trying to put it back on. However, the little pin (spring) that is supposed to keep the handle in place, doesn't seem to be working properly. It is permanently depressed and doesn't pop out when the handle is inserted. Is there still a way to fix it or do I need to replace it. Thanks for your help.

There are either two screws that are visible on one of the round plates that fit against the door, *or* one of the knobs slides off after you discover the release pin. You need to be more creative in your thinking. Imagine how it was put on. Good luck.

Thank you so much. I spent hours trying to figure out how to remove my door knob because you could not see the screws on the outside. Wow. less than 10 minutes I remove the old one and put in a new one after watching your video. You are lifesaver.

Take it out of the door. If it works well going in and out just like new, it means it's binding inside the hole. Adjust the hole.

An ATV ran into my front door... Don't ask. The latch(The spring that pushes the latch to keep the door from sliding open) That is bent and how can I fix it, I got the dents out but the door won't open. Is there a way I can fix it cheap or do you think I damaged the internal components?

@mirali93 It was taped about nine years ago. More pounds and no white hair! If the hole requirements are the same, you can change out a tubular lockset.

What about taken that type of door knob off. I looking to change locks with the very same style you showed there. However can't seem to see where it all comes apart. I can get one side off but the other remains tight??

I have a paddle type door handle for the main entrance, it wont open from the inside unless you left the handle upward then push down then the door will open. Sometimes you would have to do it acouple more times to get the door open, any ideas on how to fix it beofre I go buy a whole new assembly?

I have a problem where my bedroom door locks itself. It's very old, and I usually have it open. How can I REMOVE the locking mechanism so it opens and closes like normal?

If there is an identical one on another door, take it apart carefully. Photograph each step.

my front door has rotted out the door handle, so you can't put a new handle on. Is there a solution for this?

I have a security door. And the inside door knob has come off. Is there a way to repair this or will I have to replace the whole lock unit? Thank you in advance.

My door is loose. My two year old daughter can open the door by pushing the door. How can i lock the door and prevent my two year old daughter from going in.

Look for a small set screw or something else that's spring loaded that's stopping your progress.

ha I was locked in my room while watching this it wasn't helpful because I wasn't equiped with screwdrivers

Hello!!! my handle is stuck I have a mortise knob I'm pretty sure it's been in place since the home was built. I found a replacement set that comes with a key and as I was attempting to replace the old set I discovered the knobs are stuck, I tried to hammer the knob and still it's stuck. Any advice all of the screws are removed

i got locked out of the house between the utility room and the kitchen door knob was loose panicking my mom took the door knob off and it got worse couldnt put the knob back on but i got out thru another door could not get to the strike plate . should i just take the door off the hinges would that work? any info would help
