Wow that's amazing work Peter! You've given this computer a whole new life and that new keyboard will certainly outlast any mylar. Thank you for a great episode and advice.
Hey John, how are you buddy? I'm really happy how the board turned out, I mean it works great and had only one (very easily repaired error). Thanks for stopping by and taking a look :)
Big project to jump into the deep end on. Congratulations on getting it to work. Soon you'll have thousands of scrap PCBs clogging up every part of your home. It's like the best puzzle game ever.
Well done on entering the world of PCB designing. Before you know it you'll have dozens of designs. I have a box full of PCBs I have had manufactured (Because they rarely work first time for me and also they always ship you a minimum of 5 so they accumulate). Good to see you stepping up and helping others with this too. There might not be that many MO5 users, but you've helped every singe one of them with this.
I'd heard and seen so much about PCB design I was just waiting for a reason to jump in and I learned quite a bit along the way. This electronics / retro computer hobby never lets you get bored does it? On another subject entirely, a short while ago I was wondering if it were possible to convert my PAL Coco2 to NTSC and I came across a very interesting blog all about it... Well done you, that was Trojan work you did there. I'm still unsure about how mine would go as it's got a completely different video circuit being a SCART version and all. Maybe some other time.
Wow!!! Amazing board and an awesome tutorial on KiCad, too! I will definitely be ordering one for my M05. Super big thanks for your video and all your hard work!
Glad you enjoyed it :) Programming wouldn't be any fun without the bugs (or so they tell me). And the fun keeps coming, every bug I squash 2-3 more take it's place.
There is a learning curve but for a simple project like this it's not too steep and it's a great feeling when it works, with the added bonus of what you made fixing a problem you had ;)
Thanks Shane, it was fun to try out something I'd heard an awful lot about over the years. This retro computer / electronics hobby is as deep as it is wide, it just won't let you get bored :)
@@8bitsinthebasement...very true Peter. I just recently purchased a relatively cheap 3D printer, just so I can make cases for all the bare PCB's I have built over the years...
