Fix auto lock issue on apple watch if you have tattoos 

Bro!!! After trying everything this finally works. I’m heavily tattooeed like you and had give up till I managed to get the paratape

Ive use AW since original series. Now have a Hermes AW s5, i have heavily tattood wrists and both hands fully tattood. I workout daily and regardless what i tried, whether running or just in everyday use, upon wrist-down my watch locked. Frustratingly it also forced AUTO-PAUSE during any form of walk or workout. I ordered the 1” Epoxy stickers from Amazon also and heres my thoughts after 3-4 months daily use now. Wear each sticker around 3 days each, it MUST be removed to charge and if one wishes to track all sleep stages then leave ON until you waken and it will do so just perfectly. Whilst using sticker on the rear sensors, it will not lock and finally us inked people have a solution that works. Heart-rate is same with sticker on as when its not…ive tested it thoroughly as a daily runner! ECG: remove sticker otherwise will not allow a solid reading if not perfectly over sensors. SLEEP: MUST BE WORN to track SLEEP STAGES in detail. If your watch locks mid-sleep it will NOT TRACK STAGES so essential to keep sticker on to bed. EXTRA NOTES: The Same sticker can then be reused for 3-5 days and replaced when you wish or adhesive loosens. Just wipe rear sensors and apply another Epoxy sticker. CHARGING: will NOT charge using sticker but as above, just remove and replace in morning. * NOT IDEAL AND APPLE SHOULD REALLY BE ADDRESSING THIS! However…if your like me and AUTO-PAUSING/LOCKING drives u crazy….then get these guys/girls.

Dude it all makes sense now.. I bought an ultra cause I was having these issues with my 6. Now I have options to try and fix the issue cause my tattoos aren’t going anywhere.

Thanks brother, Man I was getting ready to return mines (IWATCH 8) , I’ve been having this issue since I’ve got it , it was actually a B-Day gift and I tried everything even took it to the Apple Store twice and nothing , I have sleeves in both of my arms and my workout app keeps pausing , I did the same you did and BAM! Life Saver switched to my non sleeved arm and BAM my fitness app stopped auto pausing. Thank you

Hello! Sleeved to my hands on both arms, same issue. Apple support couldn’t help via phone or in store. Went into AT&T to see if there was anything that could be done, was told to turn ECG monitoring on to test the sensors. Don’t know why it works, but haven’t had my watch lock once since I did that, and don’t need the film. Was shocked and happy at the same time.

Yo ! Thanksz for the tip. Unfortunately I tried it yesterday evening and night. It works in a way : it stops the lock. But it tells me I trained 454 this night with 8h of standing up and 1941 kcalories burned throughout the night while also telling me I had the best sleep of the last month ... ??

Using the ECG monitor worked for me. :)

I bought my Apple Watch 7 because of O2 measurement and EKG, so disabling that is not a way for me. Anyway thank you!

Hey! Thanks for this! I got an idea from your video lol. Kinda did the same using a tegadem film and a tissue paper (just enough to cover the sensors). Haha it worked!

I put 3 pieces of scotch tape. Worked fine and still measuring my heart.

Finaly it worked and im enjoying The always on display to Im tatted up to The Max and thanks to your trick it finally worked

Hello, I tried it on Apple Watch Series 2 and put parafilm on it, but it didn't work. When I put it on my wrist, it instantly locks the keys. Why did it not work on mine? I'm so sorry.😢

So when I have this issue I just go into settings and turn off the lock feature

it doesn’t work for me, I tried everything you said. stretching the parafilm, and 4 layers. my watch still asks for the code, not as frequently tho but it doesn’t solve my problem. am I doing something wrong?

I also have the same problem, when I choose the screen “always on” option on mu apple watch, the screen still goes off. Is this because of the tattoo on my wrist?
