HPI BAJA 5B CY CHUNG YANG 23CC ENGINE ORIGINAL PULLSTART ROPE HAS SNAPPED ABOUT THREE TIMES. ROPE IS NOW EXTREMELY SHORT SO CANT BE REPAIRED ANY MORE.
SAME AS ROVAN. Rofun. Or any large scale 1/5 GAS RC
LETS TAKE IT APART.
REWIND THE SPRING
PUT SPRING BACK IN PULLSTART
INSTALL A NEW CORD / ROPE IN PULLSTART
TEST IT.
FINE TUNE IT
ENSURE PAWLS ARE PROTRACTING CORRECTLY
SHORTED THEN EXCESS ROPE WITHOUT CUTTING THE ROPE
START WITH 1M OF 3MM / 4MM ROPE
ENJOY

Perfect repair! very worthwhile fix and important to do sometimes. Buying new stuff is easy, but this is the FUN and rewarding part!! Gas Gang!.

Yes 200% agree! Fixing things is MORE REWARDING than buying new things. (Except clone carbs) for example I’ve got rovan shocks that are basically frozen. You go in the HPI group to ask for advice. 9 out of 10 people tell you rovan is just junk and you need to buy Hpi or IRC. one smart person will tell you to take the bottom caps apart and change the ORings.

Hay brother hope you are well. Thanks for the video. I’ve not had to fix a gas rc pullstart but my son has had quads and mimi motorcycles wirth similar pull starts. Having also fixed plenty of nitro RC pull starts I can say I definitely prefer fixing the bigger ones (maybe I’m getting to old😂) how do you feel about the two? Thanks for the video👍

Hi Joe, I am fine but I need to drink more water as I keep working on small cars I forget to drink because it’s so exciting! How about you? Keeping well? What are you working on? You know I was thinking the same thing yesterday. How lovely are the spring. How thick is the rope. How easy is it to assemble. Nitro rc is the opposite. Spring is sharp. Like a snake that wants to bite your eyeballs. You touch the spring and you cut your hand. And impossible to get it back together. It takes me hours to fix a nitro pullstart. And then no skin on my fingers for a week. Haha!

@@inzp3ctor lol O feel your pain literally 😂 have sliced my fingers more time than I care to remember. As for working on , mostly trying to get the baby to sleep b😂 no but seriously I’m always in to myself savages and MT’s but I got a Hobao hyper Vt on road and I’m really enjoying her. 👍👍👍
