Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer - How to fix.
Windows usually downloads and installs updates when the auto updater is turned on. However, you may sometimes get stuck with an update configuration issue with an error on your screen saying ”Failure configuring Windows updates, Reverting changes, Do not turn off your computer”. This is not a very common issue but it may happen to anyone.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung)

@@videogirlaya1524 If it's windows 7, hold power key for about 15 seconds and unplug/remove battery for 20 minutes or so then put it back on and try to press F8 to get in to safe mode and do this.

IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! My laptop was stuck for 10 hours. I tried numerous ways to fix it to no avail, so when I finally found your video I was honestly skeptical, but I felt I had nothing to lose. After following your steps It went back to the 35% updating.. but then it immediately went from 35% to 50% to 100% and then to my HOMESCREEN! I honestly appreciate this video. Thank you!

I got in this wicked loop after attempting to install updates on a new Windows upgrade from 7 to 8. This video got me back to a normal startup again. Turned out Windows neglected to upgrade the Update service first. Thanks!

I had a problem on a windows 2008 server, Instead of safe mode I just went to another computer on the same subnet and connected to the services remotely disabling the windows modules installer. With this service stopped you can rdp back into a server and delete the files you need.

I also have the same issue and my only fix was using USB bootable media using Media Creation Tool and loading the latest restore point under the troubleshoot section.

Suddenly, right at the worst possible time, when I was trying to complete an important project, my Win7 laptop showed this error. Thankfully, it restarted by itself after an hour or so. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the project without any further hiccups!

I restarted in safe mode with networking and it took me right back to the failure to configure windows features? Is this also a problem that it says failure to configure windows features rather than Updates?

MDTechVideos I believe I did, but when I tried to access it, it said windows had to finish installing, and to return to the installation. Obviously I couldn't because this issue. Think it's past my realm of repairing, if you have any advice or know the fix that would help greatly, I was thinking of factory resetting it but i have done thst once before and my computer ran slower than it did before the reset

There were about 100 things listed under my son Windows 7 laptop that I had to individually delete does this mean he has to reinstall all those updates again? If so, won't he get the same problem?

@@MDTechVideos when I click troubleshoot it instantly goes to advanced options, whet I'm met with 6 options: system restore, startup repair, go back to previous version, command prompt, system image recovery, and UEFI firmware settings. Hope this elaborates

Hello MDTech Have you done a video on the problem of Surface failing to download windows updates and refusing to delete datastore files always saying they are in use? Also on the Surface pro 3 the network setting page thinks the computer is not connected to any network or internet when the wifi icon shows secure connection and internet is functioning?

I just wanted to say, nothing, absolutely NOTHING helped me. I've spent last two days trying to update a fucking windows, and the only option I got left is to do a windows reinstall. After that everything went smooth. Just to have in mind that sometimes nothing will help. If you spent more than 1 hour on trying to resolve this update issue, that's too much. Just do a clean reinstall of the OS. That way you'll resolve your problem much sooner. Windows sometimes decide to act like a fucking virus and there's nothing you can do about it.

Okay, so I have a slightly different issue, I'm stuck on the "getting windows ready" page, I have been here for three months now, I can't ctrl alt del out, it does nothing, I also can't just turn it off and on, it just picks up where it left of, I'm running windows 10 and I'm on a Lenovo ideapad, if anyone has any ideas or help, it would be much appreciated

@@MDTechVideos well,the video tells you to go to setting and do a bunch if stuff,the whole problem is that the laptop was stuck on the reverting to changes screen. Somehow,after shutting it on and off 10 times it got out of the circle.
