Jose, your video was incredibly helpful and accurate. The way you stopped and reassembled parts to show the breakdown of how you disassemble, and then reassemble was awesome. As stated by Archambault below, your video gave me the confidence to take on this job, and save a bunch of money!! I will be able to give a bit more to my church in the next collection, so in your way, you are doing the Lord's work. God bless you and keep you safe - "if you give a man a fish, he eats today, if you teach a man to fish, he'll eat every day" - today you taught me a new way to catch a fish - THANKS!!
This is awesome video on how to fix these hyundai door problems. It is a safety issue and don't understand why hyundai hasn't recall their cars with this issue. Had the same problem with 2 of the doors, took it back to hyundai dealer in Auckland New Zealand and was told I should've taken mechanical insurance as it would cover these issues... Wtf!..Why should I, this is a manufacturer f....kn defect and should be fixed for free!.. Ended up paying $1100. to get both doors fixed! Now it's the 3rd right rear passenger door and this video has given me ideas and confidence on DYI'ing it myself... Thank you for sharing your video.
This is a good video. You can follow this and sort your own doors out. A little mechanical knowledge needed, but for small fiddly jobs that you get lost in, this is a lifesaver. Thanks!
Very good job. You ran into a few bumps but you figured everything out. I would have been afraid to try it. I think you will give a lot of people the courage to do that job.
I’ve gotta say, your video was the sole thing that gave me confidence to be able to fix both of my Tucson’s rear door locks. Replaced the actuators this morning and everything went awesome. It’s relieving to have my doors working again. Thanks a ton Jose!
Thankyou so much I was quoted nearly 500 to fix this problem. Hyundai know about it because as soon as I told them they knew straight away they really need to make this a recall
Holy Hell that looks really hard to do. Just remembering where everything goes ...Hyundai should cover this dangerous situation. If there's a fire which could happen in this car apparently ( an actual recall Issue ) and then the door doesn't open... deadly I'm reluctant to buy another... good for you for doing this.. I'm handy and this seams complicated.
it's not complicate. Especially if you like to fix things. Simple remove panel and switch out the new part. Done. Do it when it starts to stick because if you wait until it no longer opens at all. Then u have to go with what this guy did.
Awesome video man. Gave me the confidence to attempt this tomorrow morning. I think it’s great that you shared the learning process as you go and let us know what we might run into. Cheers.
Thanks for the video! Had to do this on my wife's car this weekend and anytime I got stuck on something this video helped me through it. Was able to knock it out in about an hour.
You did a very good job of explaining the whole job. I was just getting ready to pull this apart. I may wait as it really is involved. Also I still need the part. I have re done my handle which helped a little as main problem is cable stretch I think. Your fix is the best. thank you For your time I will save video for when I fix it right.
Excellent video. Thanks for that. Especially how open the door when the handles don't work. The only issue in replacing the door mechanism is in a couple of years the problem will occur again. Hopefully it will get addressed.
Great job, excellent video. I have the exact same issue. I am thinking of trying to repair the handle, where the cable don t stay fit, but probably I will end up replacing the entire mechanism. Many thanks!!
Thanks for the video showing panel removal. I have a window problem and my wife and I will attempt it using your video. I was taught bolts have nuts and screws do not.😊
I assume the Elantra is the same to remove door panel with closed I have a elderly neighbor dealer told 1700 to fix this safety issue. Door will not open from inside or outside. I'm going to try and fix it for her this week.
U don't need to pull the inside door befor opening, u can open the door from outsider, with a little hook wile pulling the handle , u can see the wire ...if not help yourself with a ligth. By the way thanks for that vidéo
Hi, please help me, I have a Hyundai Santafé, I replaced myself the Rear Left Actuator lock door. I tested and the actuator work properly. But When I closed the Door, surprise is that it did not open ( no inside and not outside) What Can I do if I have not more access to the internal screws. Hopefully you can help me!!!. It does not have the plastic cover, and I have access to the steel cables, but they move electronically and manually, but they do not release the door.
Same thing w me but the driver opens from the inside only after I lock it with the remote. But the rear driver I can't open at all when I pulled it the handle came out
Can anyone lend some advice? I have genesis G80 with this exact same problem and even the exact same door (Driver side rear). Its stuck completely shut and will not open from inside or outside. Ive done as he did in the video and have separated the top portion of the door panel and successfully gained access to the 2 cables for the lock and handle. The only problem is no matter how much I pull on the cables and lock/unlock the car, the door will not open. I feel something has failed inside the latch mechanism causing it to remain "locked" no matter what the door lock position is. How can anyone open a door thats stuck locked without completely destroying the door?
I have the same problem. The cable has actually stretched a bit so now is too loose to actually open door. There is a dude on RU-vid that shows you how to fix that if you dont want to spend the money for new ones because this will happen to all doors eventually. Good vid tho. Thumbs up.
What's the part # for the front door actuator my mom is having the same problem with her 2016 when she unlocks the car the driver side door will not open she has to reach across from the passenger door to open the driver side door
did you fix this on the drivers door? how did you get the key lock removed? if you had a video on it let me know that would be super helpful! My girlfriends front driver door is having the same problem
Hyundai didn’t make a recall but when I called them they told me they said the company extended the warranty for 10 years and they would fix the door under warranty for my rear door any all other doors for the extension
To my knowledge you don't have to remove that retaining nut off the back side of the handle. At least from all the videos I've seen on this particular issue.
Hey Jose, you can access the cable inside the internal door handle when the lever in the opened position. Use a screw driver to lever the cable and the door will unlock. Here is the video I found for instructions - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w6sJNHIG0Es.html
Just rigged one to work. What a poor design. There's no ajuster on the cables. And they stretch when they get old. The latch mechanisms child safety part jams because the plastic in it breaks jamming the thing.
