My favorite part 2:55 to 3:00....also the jamming of the tip of the pen into the truck was sweet.....the immediate wipe off of the product 3 seconds after application was priceless. Thank you for this video.
If the scratch goes to the car's paint level, it will not work. What this kind of products do is, they create a transparent fill over the scratched surface. If there is no dust in between the scratched surface and the fill, the transparent fill will reflect the color beneath it. If there is paint level below the fill, the scratch will not show up as the scratched surface is already filled and the color below it is reflecting. Normally a car paint has three levels - primer, base paint and clear coat. Primer is done on the machined parts to protect parts from rusting. On top of it, the paint is applied and on top of the paint, a transparent clear coat is applied to protect the paint and to give the glossy effect. Scratch on the clear coat can be covered by scratch repairers, but a scratch on the base paint cannot be covered as it is too deep. So, learn before purchasing such products and stop leaving poor feedback to the sellers. True, they often mislead customers, but they also make good products.
I agree, which I talk about in the video. Compound and polishing is a better method to use. I am testing this according to their video. Watch it, the link is in the description of this video. It claims to fix Scratches, Door Dings, and Nicks. It may temporary hide a few minor minor scuffs, but it does not work as described in the video. Take a minute to watch the video and I think you'll agree!
I thought you only had to wipe if you spilled too much? I tested one of those scratch removing pens myself because I got them for free, and they did make the scratches less visible. But after a few months and a few washes, the scratches were back to normal.
These do work on scuffs n medium scratches, used it on my black ABS fairings on my bike and it worked wonders, the main prob here is he is using the pen wrong.
It's just clear gloss paint in a pen, so if the scratch has taken off all the paint, it's not going to fix it, it'll fix it if the scratch is minor. Also, it says 'wipe off excess', meaning, a light wipe, leaving the liquid inside the crevice of the scratch.
It worked fine on the 1st scratch which was what it was intended for. I don't know about him, but based on the video you can clearly see the 1st scratch become almost invisible when he applied the product to it.
Donnie, it does work. Apply the pen, wipe off any excess, not all the product. Park in the sun for it to harden. That's it.You should re-evaluate this product to be fair!
I agree, I tried it on quite a few different types of scratches. Click in the description area of this video and watch the video promoting this product. It claims to fix scratches, dings and nicks. I found this to be misleading. Thanks for watching and let me know what you think about their video.
This video really could be 5 minutes long. Should buy a better cam if you are doing youtube review videos. Your cam just don't focus quick enough and too shaky.
aren't you supposed to let this stuff cure in the sun when you're done putting the pen on? Don't the directions say to do that? I don't think this test was done correctly.
You have to let it set for 48 hours! I have used this on about 3 scratches (without wiping) and after 48 hours I could barely tell where the scratch was to begin with, if you use it properly it does work
u need to pump the pen repeatedly 20 around something like that..n than the pen only for light or small scratches not for deep or heavy scratches...after apply to ur car u need to or make sure u dry to sunset to make sure it dry properly...
they fail to tell you that you need to let it set over night then sand the excess back then polish and wax after.Turtle Wax 1830813 FG6772 Scratch Repair Kit
A little hard to watch, but good info. I stumbled on to your video searching for one of those clearcoat touchup pens. Thank you for the timely for me info, this fool was about to waste his money. I''ll buy the 3M scratch kit instead.
here is a quick tip do not use automatic car washes, why? they strip wax, and dry and ruin plastics.......very harsh chemicals used in touchless car washes.
Thanks for your comments. It did hide a few of my small hard to see scuff marks, but they came back after several days. What I do not like about this product is that their video is misleading. It says it will fix scratches, dings and nicks. Look in the description area of this video and you will see a youtube link to their commercial. Thanks again for watching and your comment.
Its a classic example of misleading commercials, I agree. But anyone with an ounce of common sense in them, knows that these products(As written directly on the packaging) are for filling light scratches to be touched up with paint. Not to make them disappear with a clear liquid that people believe magically turns into any color car its applied to like a chameleon.
Wow it worked much better for me, I also figured out the magic wand feature, it filled scratches, dents, paint chips, my gas tank and put $2500 in my wallet
It does work.....You can't be a complete novice to get a good result out of it, though. It will only really be effective on scratches that are not so deep that they go down past the base coat of paint......If the scratch goes all the way down to the primer coat, you're wasting your time. As it says, it is a "clear coat repair pen." It is not a magic scratch eraser.
I'm not trying to sound like a smart ass but I watched the commercial and it said apply and let DRY. you were wiping it off so thats why it didn't work. I've spent money on things like this before. And bought one from those same people. they were selling something that was supposed to get rid of scatchs I paid $14.00 at walmart and it didn't work.
Do your research first mate...the pen's filler requires UV light for it to set (that's why you apply it in the shade then move the car into direct sunlight for it to set) But here you are giving a big thumbs down to a product which you have applied incorrectly from start to finish. This review is misleading and poorly researched.
Wow! Things people do for RU-vid. Come one man. Its just common sense that this pen isn't going to work on scratches that are actually missing paint. I cant believe you used it on that gouge and was shocked it didn't work. Its for fine scratches that you're better off just using rubbing compound and polishing wax. First time I heard someone say littler. Just use rubbing compound and wax. Save your 3 dollars for something littler. Best thing is to just be careful with your car.
hello.why you pressing on it,when you wipe it off, dont do it,it does really dont work then, and there is writen, that leave it for a minute, not for a sec..:P
Mr smith it said.... To wipe of the access... Not to wipe all of the fluid... You a dodo.. You just do not know what you are doint.. It costs $2 .. And it does a great job for that price
This was never going to work. If it comes out clear then it's just going to put a clear coating over the scratch, not match the colour of the car paint!!!!!
This video illustrates that it is not the tool that produces the outcome, but the person using the tool. This user hasn't a clue how to use a touchup product on auto paint. A product review that does not follow the manufacturer's directions is worthless. (look online for directions). This is for filling clear coat scratches. The surface must be clean and free of wax. Wiping away excess isn't the same as scrubbing the product off. and out of the scratch. The product needs to be exposed to sunlight/UV to cure, air drying isn't sufficient. Multiple applications may be required to fill deeper scratches. Yes, the commercials oversimplify the use of the product and imply that it does more than it possibly could. No paint will ever fill a ding. No clear finsih will ever make a chip though the basecoat diasppear. No small area touchup can produce a surface repair that is durable, level and smooth at close inspection without advance surface preparation and additional finishing work. I've used this product sucessfully on light scratches. I washed the car with a detergent to remove the wax, cleaned the scratches with Acrliclean and applied just enought to fill the scratch, turning the tip parallel to the scratch and using light pressure. I gently wiped off the excess with a clean tissue for each scratch, wiping along the scratch, not across it. I left the filled scratches exposed directly to the sun from 4pm to dusk, and the next morning the scratch was close to level with the original paint. That afternoon I went over the low spots and let it cure again. The third day I used 4000 grit wet sanding to level the repair and then polished the area. A year later, those scratches cannot be found.
You obviously have a lot to learn about science, boy. These "thick" Americans are able to created a paint that generates electricity. What have YOU done lately?
you need better life skills and paint needs time to dry anyone knows that farout !!!!! also thats why they make cutting compounds to remove excess later on ok
The whole concept is a load of bullshit. Its just clear lacquer in a marker pen. Complete and utter bollocks. Made the original inventor a millionaire though.
thats why all these adds are a load of bollux the just trying to get customers in to try what which they will fail to impress the magic of computer grafix these days haha....
