Reflectors or lenses tend to fall out causing light to shine straight through instead of being distributed. Fix your TV by placing these parts back where they need to be.

I fixed every single lens that had fell off, all reglued and I carefully put it all back together and discovered I'd missed clicking one frame clip into place and it was gaping a bit - so gave it a squeeze and cracked the screen! Be careful, they're far more fragile than you think. I assumed that as it was flat, yet bent happily to fit the curved design, it was tougher than I thought - it wasn't!

I've watched several of the repair videos - yours filled in gaps that some of those missed. Worth the watch - thanks for posting.

Much appreciated. I have the same tv. This video however, shows me it would be best to live with the white spots ! ☘️

Just got an "orb" on my 65" tv, probably only 6 or 7 years old. Was talking with my wife about just buying a new one, but with the help of this video, I think I may just end up trying to fix and save the cost of the new TV. Thanks so much for making and sharing this video!

Thank you for the highly-detailed instructional video. I've just repaired my own TV by following your crystal clear instructions to the letter. Luckily though, my screen didn't break at the end, and now the TV works perfectly well again. Thanks again my friend, and sorry about your bad luck with the cracked screen .... that could happen to anybody!

Thanks for carefully showing the tabs on the side. Other videos went over them too quickly. Our LCD screen also cracked - we didn't position it carefully enough and when we put the trim back on, it cracked the LCD as we tried to push it on. So I'd say the moral is Be very very very careful when taking the LCD off, note exactly how it is positioned so you can put it back properly, and be very very very careful putting it back on and pushing the trim back in place!

I was not expecting the end and my stomach dropped for you. Great video all the same and I know what I have to do now... or potentially get someone else to do. There's a 50'' Samsung 4K LED near me for sale with the 'white spots' so... looks like it might be worth it. Thanks for uploading. Many wouldn't have and love from Northern Ireland.

Tips from someone that has now repaired THREE 55" Samsung TV's that had the lenses fall off! Main Point: The most critical part of this repair is to get the lens PERFECTLY centered above the LED! When looking straight down on top of the LED with the LENS ON, there should be very little light coming from dead-center. Essentially, the lens should "push" the light to the edges of the lens itself. If you don't center the lens EXACTLY over the LED, then light will escape the lens and shoot straight up to the diffuser and you will *still* have white spots on the repaired TV (voice of experience speaking here). I would say use the following repair process steps- 1) turn the TV on and set the brightness to the LOWEST setting you can set it to (this will save your eyesight as you center the lenses) 2- Disassemble the TV to the point where you can re-glue the lenses. 3- Use a fairly slow-dry glue that allows you up to an hour of repositioning (I used GEL-type superglue**) 4- Put on your darkest pair of sunglasses (this process is very eye irritating- I ended up seeing spots for an hour afterwards!) 5- Turn the TV on and look down directly over the top of each lens you have glued 6- If any direct light is escaping STRAIGHT UP up through the lens, carefully reposition the lens until as LITTLE as possible is coming straight up- the three small "pips" on the lens should drop into the small copper-colored "holes" in the LED strip when centered correctly This small tweak GREATLY improved the quality of the image and light dispersal on my repaired units. The LED lens is designed to reduce the "direct-up" light and spread it wider to spread it on the diffuser layer above it. If its not centered, the LED sorta "blasts" through the lens and creates hot spots on the diffuser.. not as bad as no lens, but not as good as the factory aligned lens. I Hope this helps someone get better results! 👍🙂 ** The GEL-type superglue can cause the lens to "fog" so carefully wipe the lenses of any white powdery fog that may accumulate after the gluing process (Sorry to see the LCD broke on yours 😥I highly recommend using a pair of suction cups to uniformly lift the LCD to reduce the stresses of edge lifting it)

Thanks for posting such a detailed video. I must have looked at at least a dozen others and yours was the only one that explained step by step so clearly. Sorry that it didn’t end well for you but it taught me that I should buy some suction cups. I am tackling this job tomorrow with your video in front of me!

Thanks for doing this and giving clear directions! You're a great teacher! My heart just broke for you at the end of the video. You handled that well! I'm pretty sure I would have cussed out the TV and had to do a bit of editing 😂

I have the same problem on a 10 year old 55" Samsung. Thanks for posting the easy to follow details on disassembly and re-attaching the lenses. One way to minimize the chance of handling damage to the LCD panel is to leave the TV screen facing down and lift up the chassis with the LEDs.
@flightsweep505
@flightsweep505 Год назад
@Ted Amrein Well almost. I got everything disassembled but snapping the plastic frames back in place around the perimeter I got one corner misaligned and didn't notice until I cracked a corner of the screen when I was pressing the front frame back on. I should have taken more photos at every step of the disassembly to check against as I reassembled and I probably would have caught the error.

Thank you for detailed video. Read all your comments carefully, and still made the same mistake. Squeezed a bracket a bit and the display cracked. Fortunately, only the left part was not working and I could at least do a factory reset before recycling the TV. Also it's really hard to glue back the crystal in the correct spot, so light might escape anyway. I would suggest buy and replace all the led stripes.

OUCH... trying to film with one hand and do the repair... not so easy! I saw another video where they just left the screen facing down on a flat surface and lifted the back up, no lifting of the loose screen and no risk of the screen breaking, but the way those clips work around the screen, it would be tricky to undo them. Maybe have the screen face down resting on 6 or 8 tissue boxes so you still have access to the clips around the edge... that's the way I plan to approach this. I'm hoping once the TV is facedown on the screen resting on the tissue boxes, I can take it apart without flipping/moving the screen. It's best to have two people when doing this for sure!

If a person has an actual physical or mental limitation that prevents them from following direction, then sure, take it to a repair shop. But if not, there's only fear of screwing up that prevents someone from fixing this themselves. "Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success.
