I use that cheap nufinish compound and do it by hand. I use buffing compound on my mirrors too. It keeps cheap mirrors from "bleeding through" as quickly and it makes cleaning them a breeze. Great video!
I have the random orbital buffer and the cutting compound, but only ever used it on my car. I thought about using it to fix some hairline scratch on my fridge but wasn't sure if it would work. Thanks for confirming!
This absolutely works! I’m so excited! My husband sprayed grout cleaner on my SS wine refrigerator and I didn’t notice until the next day and there were spots all over I couldn’t get off…. Tried other methods and nothing worked except I scratched it more. I was sooooo upset and then found your video, ordered the products off Amazon, and tried it this morning! Wine refrigerator looks brand new! Yay! Thank you so much!
Are your appliances very shiny like in the video? Mine are not quite this shiny, I’m wondering if it would work on mine without it coming out with a different finish. Thank you.
@@richA2430 I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this. I just used the soft pads…. I’m going to have to do them again 10 months later but I think doing that anyway will keep it brand new looking
Awesome …. Now if you wanna keep that shine and finger prints off… here we go folks… bust out rain x … yes you heard me correct busy out some rain x that you spray on a car wind shield and just rub it with a dry microfiber and that will solve hand prints for many many months and keep the best shine ever
thank you for this video! i was sick of watching videos showing me how to sand in one direction for 15 mins. but ...how can i use this on black stove top? i got scratches on there as well
Today is 10-10-23. My sister tried to clean my stainless steel fridge with a scotch bright pad(the green one). Scratched it up pretty good. I went to harbor freight and bought a polisher with the medium and fine pads. I used the fine. This worked great. This Took all the scratches out of my fridge door. I used the same compound that she used. For deeper scratches i would use the medium pad and switch to the fine after. If you stainless is messed up i highly recommend trying this.
Yours came out wonderful I have some scratches on mine from my kids dragging a magnet I tried this but they are still there any idea how long I should let it buff for and I had it on 4 would turning up the speed make a difference ? Im so disappointed in my kids and with this I just bought this refrigerator 😢😢
06/13/22 God bless you... you are a SAINT for helping us fix our scratches to our new stainless steel $2600 refigerator.... seriously God Bless you and thank you.... for real thank you, hugssssssssss... Excellect video, worked perfectly for us...with YOUR method, yay!!!
A big thank you! I messed up all my stainless appliances with Bar Keepers Friend and was sick about it. They look beautiful again and better than they have in years.
@@kjbrocky yes it’s fine for my sink and stove as well but scratched my refrigerator, double oven, range hood and dishwasher. It was another RU-vid video that recommended the Bar Keepers Friend. The method in this video with the buffer and compound made everything look as good as the day I bought them. It smoothed out the scratches and took off all the built up stainless spray I’ve used for years. All these months later they still look great. Now I just use dishwashing liquid to clean then rinse and dry throughly. I’ll buff again if I need too but never will I use Barkeepers Friend on those appliances again.
@@awe-nation6002 I purchased the Ryobi 6 inch buffer for about $40 at Home Depot and it came with two buffing pads and I use the softest one. They just call it a buffing/polishing bonnet. I have buffed all my appliances once more since I originally replied to this post and still only use Dawn dishwashing detergent on a microfiber towel, rinse and wipe dry to keep them looking nice in between polishing. For some reason my dishwasher which is a different brand appliance is more difficult to get even looking so sometimes I’ll use Zep stainless steel cleaner on that. Also, if I look closely I can still see a few leftover scratches from using Barkeepers Friend on my double oven. Hopefully in time if I buff again those scratches will become less noticeable but as it is now I’m the only one who notices.
Yes, however! The buffing may remove your coating. I chose to just do my entire fridge. You can apply something like RainX to your fridge which will help keep smudges away.
Sure, but be aware, if your fridge has a coating, this method will likely take the coating off where you buff and then you probably would want to just do the whole fridge to make it look uniform.
Thanks so much for making the video! It worked beautifully with the orbital polisher. I used the slightly more aggressive 'polishing compound pad' with the compound polish.
I'm only speculating here. But everything in her video can be purchased at harbour freight tools. The polisher is their own brand. I would think the pad is either green or light blue. Their website will tell you how aggeasive each pad is.
Would you like to come do my fridge for me please? I love beautiful DIY women. However, I see that engagement ring on and not looking to interfere with that. Very lucky man/woman.
Well I used the foam pad … but this really didn’t take none of my scratches… I had to sand it and then polished it. Thank you for the video.. it was only great for polishing.
