Fix & Solved Honda Civic 10th Gen Car Won't Start Brake System Problem & Error Messages 

Honda needs to submit a recall for this issue because a lot of us are experiencing this.

Literally just had this happen to me this morning I made it to work with a jump & I’m at work now but once I turn my car off I’m praying I can get it started again leaving later today. I haven’t had any signs that my battery was dying or going dead so this is so random and strange that it says brake system problem if it’s the battery but I’m going to go get my battery checked if I can get it started after work. This happen to me yesterday. But I got them all fix I got new tiers, alignment and some went away. Next was emission problems. Cleaned my battery and wires. Next I cleaned my engine bay and made sure all the hoses and electric clips were good! I went for the fuse box next and all plugs were good. Connected my battery and it started. Had to drive for the system to reset and so far everything is good.

Had this problem today with my wife's car it was low on brake fluid oil added some to proper level started right up did have to put booster cables on was not charged. Hope this helps

i have a new battery and this happens when its left in accessory mode for more then 10mins , usually if i wait and start my car later itll start but its annoying

This just happened to us today. Found a ton of corrosion built up on the battery terminals. Cleaned that up and tried to charge it but no go. Got a new battery and the car started up. Error messages cleared up after I started driving the car. Good to go.

WE have had this happen to my sons 2017 Civic twice. Yesterday being the most recent. When jumped, it starts right up. I checked the battery today and it read 12V. So i am not sure what is causing this problem. I have a 2016 Mazda 6 and when my smart brake light lit up on the dash, i added brake fluid and that has stopped it from coming on. The dealer also said my brake pads are low, and this could cause the light to come on.

It's an electric problem and there should be a recall on this car it sucking up energy from the battery to survive causing the car to crash we are in a computer not a car for real I spent to much money on this car and I'm very upset with Honda for this one

I had the same issue a couple years back but I was able to jump start the car and after replacing the battery everything was alright. But got the same issue today, jump starting didn't work, now I'm hoping it's a battery issue and nothing major 🤞. Gonna hit Walmart tomorrow to grab some of the instruments to check voltage (it'd be helpful if anyone can recommend the proper instruments). The worst part is that I'm stuck 700 miles away from the home, and towing here could cost $500 apparently (yay NYC). Any help or thoughts is gratefully appreciated.

Happened in my 2019 accord. Battery was good, it was the brake light switch that went bad. Changed it and no problems since. Now, my moms 2016 civic is doing this same thing as well. About to go see if it's her battery (hopefully it is).

This is the only video I could find addressing this issue. I have a 2019 honda civic sport and this happened to me yesterday. my battery had no issues thus far but conveniently I gave it to honda for service and the next day my car won't start and was utterly dead. 10 days prior to this, they tested the battery and said it was in good condition. we tried jumping it using my friend's car but nothing happened. I think we did it wrong but I am not sure what I should do now because I can't drive it. After researching I can see so many people are facing this issue.

Took my car for oil change, inspection, and tire rotation. Got car back and these ligths are on. Battery is good, tested at autozone. I tried disconnecting the neg battery terminal but will try and disconnect both and touch the connectors together to clear memory. I saw someone mention a bad fuse being the reason, how would you be able to check the fuses?

2018 Honda Civic ex, todays the 1st day the “electric brake system problem” light went on & it was my brakes that made the light pop on. They are very low, brakes are making a rasping noise. I’m getting them changed out so hopefully the light goes away after

I used to love Honda. I bought a 2017 Honda Civic EX in November of 2021. It's left me stranded twice with not starting. I'm about ready to trade this heap in. It only has a little over 55,000 miles on it.

so my car did the same thing. i went to auto zone got my battery checked and they said it was good, the sticker on the batter says 8/20, so should i still get a new battery even tho they said it was good ? side note it only did this twice when i drove on heavy rain on the freeway i dont know if that has any correlation ? hopefully you can help me

2016 Honda Civic Ex-L. I was doing a brake fluid flush for the first tire (passenger rear) but didn't top off the reservoir when I was pumping and bleeding the brakes that's when the warning light came. It said brake fluid is low and other messages like "brake system problem", "Anti-lock brake system problem (ABS)", "electric braking problem" etc... So I turned off the car, topped off the brake fluid reservoir fully, and tried to restart the car but besides flashing lights, it wouldn't start. I hear clicks but the engine just won't turn over. I can see the battery was getting low (headlights and interior system lights were very low compared to when they're fully charged). I'm not sure if the issue is with the battery, the starter (fuse issue), or if its because I have not done the brake flush for all 4 tires. I waited an hour and tried to open the car, but keyless battery won't open the car. So dead battery then? The car hasn't even hit 50,000 miles and been serviced in timely manner, very frustrating issue.

I have 2021 Crv and I have all of those lights plus a blinking D light. My scanner shows these codes U0100, U0038, and U0402 and U0122 I replaced the battery. Any idea what is the problem?

My lights only come on if i stay on Accessory Modd for too long. I jump it off and im good. Im looking to see if there is a workaround with sitting in accessory mode or something.

So I’m having this problem as well at first when I pressed the brake and tried to turn it on it would dim all the dashboard light and the care would go dark went to a auto store got a battery when removing battery negative terminal was crazy lose slid right off when tried to tighten it will still be lose and positive terminal won’t fit on battery also the high lights stay on while being in the off position any suggestions?

My 2017 hatch had same problem. New battery too Dealer said need new engine harness 2,100 usd 😡 to fix.

I just got a new battery 4 months ago and my car won’t start. It’s display brake system error, migration system, and a couple other lights on dash. Any ideas? Or should I still get battery looked at first? All lights come on, and it makes clicking sound. It’ll start every once in a while

My 2020 hybrid Honda CRV has the same problems.

idk what happened with mine but I jump started mine and all those lights came on so I drove for a bit and after a while each light started to go away. By the time I arrived at autozone all the lights were gone.

Before y6ou go tto the dealer check yyour brake fluid, brake wear, Before any of these, check to see if the terminals are clean. My wife just checked the charge saw dirt on 1 of the terminals, cleaned it and it turned on, turned it off and started again fine. The system went back to normal :)

this happened to me today my 2019 Honda Civic... i turned on my car like i usually do, but while pushing the brake pedal & wouldnt let me step on it & the wheel wouldnt move neither the lights will flash & then will go off...

I removed the battery and after putting back the car will turn on but then turns off right away. I bought a new battery and it didn’t work. Any suggestions of what can it be?

I have same lights come on but it comes on while im driving. Then goes away when you turn off ans back on. They it’ll be fine for a day or two then comes on again.

9 times out of 10 it’s a weak battery or bad alternator. EASY SOLUTION: Clean corrosion off the battery terminals (Cola and a toothbrush work really well), get a jump, run/drive the car about 20 mins. Done!

What if I took it to AutoZone to have them test the battery and alternator and they said they were both good but still having trouble?

I have the same problem. I jump it and works. But I’m confused. If I put a new battery what is the issue ? It keeps saying brake problem on the dash? So is something wrong with the brakes? Why does it say that.

I had all those same warnings come on my car by my engine started just fine. My biggest problem is my steering is locked up so I can do anything. Do y’all think the battery is still the issue?

Mine is I have all the pop up faults but my car runs with no problems I just can't use my remote start its a 2017 civic EX-T CVT the guys at the mechanics shop used a code reader said one of my cylinders is misfiring so they replaced my sparks and on of my coil packs but it didn't fix it so now they want to replace a fuel injector I just wish we could find out what's wrong so I can stop bringing it to the shop it's under warranty so it's free but then I'm without a car until they finish the work

I have a 17' civic and it was giving those "break system problem" and I even replaced the battery for a brand new but still have it on, for example the ACC light, Collision Milligation, Road Departure" came on and i don't even know what to do at this point.. I tried all the possibilities and still came on.. Should I take it to the Dealer?.. Anyone?

Happening to my 2019 Civic with less than 20k miles on it. This is ridiculous from a brand like Honda. Then they want us to pay a hefty "inspection fee" at teh dealership to figure what is going on here.

My 2019 CRV did this 11 months ago after 2.5 -3yrs. They wanted me to by a new battery with a 5 year warranty. As if my brand new car battery should only last less than 3 years. I had to advocate for myself over and over again until they claim they would give me a new battery. Here I am 11 month after getting a “new” battery from Honda with the same problem,I had to get jumped Saturday and Monday morning to get to work. I bought this car bc Honda is problem free low maintenance especially new. My mom has a Murano didn’t change her battery till 6 years later.Wt is going on with Honda. I have an appt with Honda today.

That's like when you have the check engine light, you disconnect the battery but they will return a few days later, you did not fix the problem

That 100 month warranty is a joke. Honda will say nothing is wrong with the car so they don’t have to honor it. They will say you don’t drive enough of far enough, but they will be happy to sell you a new battery.
