Dude, I don't care about the rim job, but thanks for the tips anyway.😂 Your voice is made for any types of broadcasting, very soothing and professional. 👍
bro I love everything about your approach you give me confidence for my touch up everyone on youtube makes it way more complicated than it has to be but I guess their is value in what they do too anyways! thanks
my wife has had her M3 for 10 months and 3 wheels have curb rash. even though on paper the treads of the tires (235/45R18 = 9.25 inch) are similar width of the wheel (18x8.5 inch), the side wall angles in from the rim of the wheel to the tread, which causes the rim of the wheel to stick out further than the side wall. my sportage sx doesn't have curb rash b/c it comes with 235/55R18 tires where the side wall bulges out a bit. and also the factory wheels are an inch more narrow @ 18x7.5 i've heard of some M3 owners going with a wider 245 tire after they wear through the factory tires.
Wow! I’m impressed!! I just got my first curb rash on my 22 GT today.. only 20,000 kilometres 😭 It was worth it though.. my dad had to go to the hospital and he comes first.. (he is ok by the way) I’m gonna give this a shot later on in the week.. looks like a great and easy fix! Luckily the part of the wheel that got curbed was silver… the black part never got any damage. It shouldn’t be too hard… it’s machined silver for me so I assume sanding it down and then maybe adding some clear coat may help? Might be easier I don’t need to paint it.
The problem always is, it is much easier to curb harsh again and again, so how much effort you really want to put n it if not selling the car, thanks for the video.
Great video. Should work well for the minor curb rash (ugh!) I just noticed on my 2022 Model 3. What color paint did you use? The Amazon link to the paint you used does not show a Tesla option. I think I have the same standard 18" wheels you have. They look sort of silver color. Thanks.
I have the same wheels, but the amazon link is showing Green color "Dupli-Color EBFM03507 Perfect Match Automotive Spray Paint - Ford Amazon Green Metallic". Exactly what color did you brought for this application
LoL got it my rental model Y with a chunk of tire taken off I used a sharpie and glued a small chunk of tire back on hope they don't notice when I return it
@@Ramanhere468 no I returned it to a pretty dark airport parking garage nope nobody noticed...the rim was sharpied in really dark the tire chunk was glued pretty decently too...I like to save money and rarely get rental car insurance or get some minimum policy
Finally….a short, simple 3 minute video with a simple solution. So many morons out here with 15 to 20 minute videos that just like to hear themselves talk….ugh
I have a stupid question: why does Tesla make the wheels that are highly susceptible to curb rash? Why don't they simply change the design of the wheels?
they can go with a smaller wheel and larger tire size. even though on paper the treads of the tires (235/45R18 = 9.25 inch) are similar width of the wheel (18x8.5 inch), the side wall angles in from the rim of the wheel to the tread, which causes the rim of the wheel to stick out further than the side wall. my wife has had her M3 for 10 months and 3 wheels have curb rash. my sportage sx doesn't have curb rash b/c i run 235/60R18 tires where the side wall bulges out a bit. and also the factory wheels are 18x7.5
Do you know the Dupli-Color for 21" Performance Uberturbine wheel? The Dark Shadow Gray in the link is for the 20" wheel. The colors are different between the two.
So if you kept sanding down with the 400, once you used primer (if you wrere to like you wre saying) after the coat of primer I could sand that down with 400 or would you go higher and finer?
I might actually try this. Ive recently jumped into doing my own paint work and im surprised how easy it actually is and unnecessary to fork out hundreds of dollars. Like $150 per rim is just too much, I dont have tesla rims but i'd rather just buy a new rim for my car at those prices hahahah
I just got my first curb rash after 7k miles and my spouse gave my car it's first curb rash after 5 miles. Shit happens. Keep it cheap. Thanks for the video
I do not understand why you will want this if you have x55. I have x55 and I do not find any thing this one is superior than x55 except the 20 bux cheaper. Not easy to mod js also a deal breaker. But thanks for the detailed review as always.
It didn’t hurt anyone I just can’t believe someone would do this to their car. Ignorance is bliss and that is perfectly fine I just like to call it what it is lol
Because I swap out rims and tires on tire change, so its not really that big of a deal for me. Teslas are basic cars they're not luxury vehicles tbh The last word at the end says... if you want to do a better job use primer
