Really grateful for this channel. At times I see instructors yelling at students for making such mistakes. That actually discourages them a lot and the whole experience becomes negative. Your videos have allowed me to correct my mistakes at my own pace and progressed to another level. We sometimes take videos of each other to make sure we're not making those mistakes you've outlined. Many thanks!!!^^^^ from a country with no snow

The problem with the twist is that when you are in that twisted posture there is no way for your body to compress from that point. So if a bump or unexpected piece of terrain comes up and you're in that position, you're basically like a straight stick. There is no way for your body to go except out of control.

That looked like he willingly put his toes down while having his front body facing the moving direction and said to himself "guess I'll die". Good thing is that it looked like a smooth fall without banging head on the ground all things considered.

THAAANK YOU:) it helped me a lot today -- no 2 and 3 :)). i remembered while "leafing"....why my legs hurt so much:)).. And...no.2- facing the slope with your body helped A LOT. It took a while to let go but being a heavy rider the correct turning is very important. otherwise i would only gain more speed that can become very scary. I combined this video with the carving video for best results:D I never thought i would say this...but :)) i kinda' learned snowboarding from your videos.

About that breaking about the waste. I've noticed I tend to do it when I squat a bit lower, which I do in uneven terrain to be able to handle the bumps. However, when I stand more straight I would just fall over backwards. I guess it's the way with my body because I'm quite tall and most of it is coming from my legs. So when squating, my center weight is naturally more overhanging which I need to compensate for. Is this reasonable or is it something to work on?

The heals of your boots may well be further out than the edge of the board, hence on a steeper slope you end up riding your heals rather then the metal edge of your board and you end up on your butt. Answer.... get a wider board.
@paoloequizi5957
@paoloequizi5957 Год назад
@@peterhoughton1731 That's a really good point Peter! I already have a wide board than I will try to put the bindings a bit forward.. 🤙
@peterhoughton1731
@peterhoughton1731 Год назад
The bigger your feet the bigger the problem. Many riders are riding with overhanging toe/heal and suffer falls on a regular basis and think its their fault when actually many 'standard width' snowboards are not fit for use on steeper pisted terrain and deep carving. My board has a 295cm waist and I no longer have this problem, on the toe or heal edge. Check out Ryan Knapton on you tube he has developed extra wide boards and rides them amazingly well. Search 'Ryan knapton smooth snowboarding' Also 'how to really really carve' parts 1 to 14. May the force be with you.😀
@ShredAheadSnowboarding
@ShredAheadSnowboarding Год назад
Is it breaking at the waist or bending over at the hip joint? Generally caused by the rider looking down at the feet i.e. ground! Correct posture.

Ok, I find myself soooo much more comfy on my toes & I keep eating it when I try heelside! I’m goofy on a skateboard, but it seems that my body wants me to be regular on a snow board. Could that be why I’m not getting the hang off heels yet? Granted, I’ve only gone up once! 😂
@avlehtine
@avlehtine Год назад
What’s the issue? Loosing the front, the back, catching the toe edge, heel judder? When I was doing my first heel turns. I realized more forward lean on the hibacks helped me push against them more and made the whole thing more stable. Also I had to put more weight on my back foot than I realized (as soon as I was in the turn).

Love this channel, but still a hard disagree from me on the "twisting motion" "problem". I don't think it's bad technique / practice to slow down that way, and it's very effective. Also, I feel very stable doing that. You just have to practice putting equal pressure on both feet, rather than putting most of it on the front foot.
@SnowboardProCamp
@SnowboardProCamp Год назад
Twisting is definitely good to do sometimes. The problems is when it’s the only way you know how to turn.
@DaveDBD
@DaveDBD Год назад
@@SnowboardProCamp I always use a twisting motion to cruise around moguls or on really icy terrain. Is there a better technique? Because I need to heave the board around quickly to not crash into the moguls or if I initiate a normal slow turn on ice I will also crash. So is twisting the board around with your body an acceptable technique in such situations or are there better ones?
