Our Outback battery died only after listening to the radio for about an hour - CRAZY.
I got to disconnect the car battery because the tailgate would not open. This FIXED the tailgate, but then the passenger side window stopped working. This is how you FIX this problem in SECONDS.

I am on my second Subaru Outback and learned early on that I must have a portable device on hand to jump start my Outback. I took short trips (grandkid to/from school about 1/2 mile away) and in the middle of winter often was not long enough on the road to really get the battery charged. Many Outback's can get a new power charging scheme downloaded by the dealer to deal with short trip charging. If not, then like he said, after too many mid-winter trips or about an hour or two of accessory to listen to the radio (as I'm sitting in the hospital parking lot waiting), my battery will die! I did discover that hospital security is use to jump starting vehicles, especially in this time of COVID since visitors are not allowed inside, but by the time they arrived, I had my car jumpstarted and I was back in action! Thanks for the video on the windows. After a power ahem "mishap", I always have to do this procedure to get the windows working from the driver side again.

OMG Judy, my Outback's battery has died from leaving the dome light on or the radio on too long. I carry a HALO BOLT in my Outback and it has saved me more than once. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZlUOQsoaqAs.html

Awesome.you saved the day for me! Note: my 2017 Outback had a battery draining issue when new. Entertainment radio screen replaced and all was fine for 5 years. I finally needed a new battery and that replacement caused the window problem You Fixed for Me. Thank you again

I just had my battery replaced and this happened with the passenger side window. Also the auto up/down stopped working on the driver's side. Did this reset on both and fixed both windows! Thanks very much for sharing this.

The batteries on these are undersized. The BCI 24 nicely fits in the tray and has higher capacity. It's 1.2" longer so you need to modify the sleeve/heat shield but the tray looks as if it was built for the BCI group size 24.

Great question - it probably works, BUT honestly, I haven't tested it on a back window.

Oh, I've never had this problem on the driver side before, it's always on the passenger side in our Outback. Maybe the same will work?

Just did this on mine. One caveat is my window would only go up a little then stop and won't continuously go up. I had to pulse it till it closed and on thr pulse that completely closed the window, held it for 5 seconds and that reset it. So maybe the motor has to be in a certain position. Just a guess.

They are undersized. Never understood why they put in such small batteries.

IMHO, it's not a battery issue, it's the Subaru charging scheme. Some Outback's can get a short trip charging scheme downloaded to the car by the dealer. This was an issue on my first Outback and I replaced the battery with a Diehard and it also happened. At that point the dealer offered the new charging algorithm and I never had the problem again.

@@jdqltr Perhaps, but battery is way undersized. I made some modifications to accept a larger battery and all my problems have been solved. For years.
