Stay tuned i have the 150w MOGUL hps. I will be replacing that HPS light bulb from the power company. The pasture also asked if they still make these lights.. as he wants all 4 mercury vapors to work. I told him no.. hed have to buy a used one or new in box old stock. I happen to have two on my property i dont absolutetly need ( they can be replaced by my 150w hps) so i might see if he wants to buy my 175 mv area ligjt and have me swap it out for the bad one on that pole
I first noticed old cycling HPS lights from a young age and it always bothered me knowing then that I was powerless to do anything about them. Until in my later teen years I climbed some wooden pallets to reach a cycling HPS floodlight on the far side of our youth hall building that cycled for years, just to change the light bulb! And another time with a 100 watt HPS area light on the side of a shed of a house that had been vacant for some years. That is why I sort of went crazy buying up mercury vapor bulbs and fixtures, and my dad thinks I'm nuts. I think LED's came out of nowhere and took over much too fast! Not to mention that the last mercury vapor bulb manufacturer stopped making them just a couple of years ago.😢
I sure do remember this church. It looks very nice now. There's a church by my place that has MVs and one fluorescent light, but they're well-maintained. There are also a couple of auto shops in town that still use MVs inside and out, which are mostly well-maintained, except for one bulb that's probably been burning constantly for multiple decades. Oh yeah, I've got some lighting videos that I recorded a couple months ago. They're pretty slow-paced, but I do want to upload them; it just slipped my mind. They're mostly just some showcases of the lights I've got, and a comparison between a pair of scrounged up mercury bulbs.
Yea i wish you coukda seen in person just how drastically brighter these coated new bulbs are vs the clear 20-30 year old bukbs.. heck even my video i made a year ago you can barely eveb see the buses.. and theyre under the damn light lol. Of course one council member said he couldnt tell.. there is always person who is stupid and cant see the diff
Yep lol. Old ones were clear bukbs too.. 20% less lux per my tests.. Not as visible as white either.. So that combined with new bulbs versus 20-30 year old bulbs.. it was so drastic in how much brighter it was.
Oh yea 😃😁. Please man, record is a video of you changing out the HPS lamp! Also, when handling these bulbs, it’s best to wear gloves to not create a hotspot on them. The MV bulbs you don’t really have to as they last forever no problem with bare hands touching them, but the HPS and MH especially, OH YEAH! Those get EXTREMELY hot!
Replace that power company HPS 150, don’t listen to the city board. I did something similar and would change out the bulbs in a parking lot without the owner’s permission, later he was very happy about it and paid me $30.
I was going too the church asked me too. I just didnt have the right bulb or the ability to get way up there.. its 30+ feet up. My pole i use to unscrew bulbz is only 15-20 and my ladder is only so tall i was 2 feet too short. Plus its a 150w hps mogul. I only had a 100w. I ordered one and itll be here friday.
The hps i need to buy a 150w mogul bulb all i had was 100w mogul and i couldnt reach it.. its wayyyy up there.. So once i get the 150w bulb.. ill use the churchs scizzor lift snd my extention pole to replace the bulb. The 4th merc the ballast is bad. So it needs replaced or the ballast needs bybassed for an LED light.
