I have a 2024 gmc at4 with the 3.0 Duramax. I have not had the same regen issues. I have been running the maintenance arch oil on every fill up. Will also run the arch oil system cleaner at 5000 miles. I’m a believer in the archoil additive. Also running amsoil and the ppe filter. Truck seems to run quieter and smoother with all of the above.

Archoil has the same additive as Chevron Techron. It's called PEA or polyether amine. Loosens ir breaks down carbon deposits. Very commonly used in fuel system cleaners for gas and diesel these days. Archoil must put a ton in it.
@DemonWorks
@DemonWorks Месяц назад
I use Chevron on all fillups unless I am out of town and cannot get to a chevron station. The Gasoline is top tier but the diesel does not meet that spec. Only one that does is Costco and there is just one kind of near me. I wonder if more diesel fuels became top tier and used the PEA, if we would have better results without an additive.

@@DemonWorks Where I live in California Chevron only sells B99 Blended Renewable/Biodiesel with 0% petroleum base. Only Exxon/Mobil sells #2 ULSD diesel and they don't even say what is in it or if it is bio/synthetic. Silverado manual says no more than B20 for the baby Duramax and says nothing about "renewable" diesel which is synthetic diesel made from vegetable oil. My nearest top tier diesel station is a Costco 50 miles away.

My regens were averaging 120 to 150 using hotshots EDT. I switched to Archoil maintenance treatment 2oz every fill up. My regens have been increasing ever since. First one was 179 then the next was 220. Now it is at 239 after my third tank of Archoil. When I fill up tomorrow I am going to use the Archoil treatment that you used to see if that makes anymore improvement.

I found a thread on BobIsTheOilGuy where someone tested the concentrations of the PEA additive that loosens and cleans out soot. Techron Diesel Treatment and Archoil had very high concentrations of that chemical. Hotshots EDT was quite a bit lower. I would post the link if YT still allowed it but you should be able to find it. They tested a dozen or so diesel additives that contained PEA. I wonder how much more PEA is in Hotshots extreme fuel system cleaner. Their website describes EDT as "brushing your teeth every day" and their Extreme as "going to the dentist" aka use every 6000 miles. I'm just trying to find the best bang for the buck in a PEA additive, since the Archoil stuff is a little more expensive than most.

I just added a bottle of archoil clean to my 2024 LZ0 before I drove from Kansas to Minnesota and my Idash was at 61% regen and 60% soot level. I watched the regen % slowly drop to about 35% before it started increasing again and my soot % dropped to 21%. When the regen reached 100% my soot level was still in the upper 20's. When the regen was complete the Idash recorded 440 mile regen.

Got 587 miles on the tank with the Archoil cleaner, filled the tank and added 3oz of the archoil 6500 and the next regen was 538 miles on the return trip. We will see what it does back with daily driving

My 24 AT4 has 700 miles on odometer and regens are occurring at every 120 miles or so. I drive all highway miles. The truck is getting good fuel mileage despite the frequent regenerations.
@karlschauff7989
@karlschauff7989 Месяц назад
Yeah if you do pure highway driving the regens don't have as big of an effect on the fuel economy averages since it's so quick. My friend's gen 1 Ecodiesel seemed to need way longer to complete a regen.

My truck had a CEL P22FE with 962 miles. I decided to clear the code with my banks idash and add 6oz of the arch oil treatment. The truck underwent a regeneration shortly thereafter and I have put about 100miles without the CEL coming back on. The dpf seems to be filling at a slower pace since adding this treatment. Will need to drive a few more miles to see if this made a difference.

mine does stay on for the whoile time. Banks is aware of the issue on yours as others have the same issue. Seems to be varying by truck with no reasoning behind it. You can go in and select the first "LM2" option in the iDash and that should make it work. You lose some other parameters but you gain the regen parameters.

@@DemonWorks I'm not sure if the Chevron in your area has the Top Tier diesel or not. If you do a search for Top Tier Diesel in your area, you should be able to find a list of stations. GM says to only use Top Tier for the Diesel, if you do not, you are supposed to put GM fuel additive.

@@DemonWorks Sorry, I didn't realize those were your videos. I have watched so many on the 3.0 I can't remember every channel I saw them on. I was thinking non-Top Tier fuel was the cause of so many regens, but it could also be oil being ingested in to the engine as part of the cause.

It's extremely hard to find Top Tier diesel. Unlike Top Tier gasoline which many companies adopted, Top Tier diesel basically failed so stations that carry Top Tier diesel are few and far between. That's why guys should be running a fuel additive that contains the PEA detergent that is part of the Top Tier standard.

It's a Regen cycle. I'm new too and what I've learned is that it's part of an emissions system cleaning cycle that burns off soot particulars in your system. These cycles happen every few hundred miles and the most important thing is that many say you should continue driving your truck until the cycle is over. It's taking me 12-20 miles of driving during an active cycle.. how do you know when it's active? Best way is by installing a Banks IDash.
