About 18 months ago I had a garden area between two patios filled in with concrete to make one large patio. I did an oops and didn't realize that there was a good reason to leave that particular area as a garden. Right below the surface in that garden was the sewer line cleanout! It also covered over a part of the sewer line that I need to have repaired and replaced.
All told I'm having to spend close to a thousand dollars extra to get this repair done. I had to pay a crew to come out, cut the concrete and rebar, and jackhammer out a section of the concrete so the plumber could get in and make the repair. After the plumber finishes, the original crew will come back and put in new rebar and pour new concrete. This time we will have the sewer cleanout flush with the top of the concrete patio so we can get to it in the future.
Expensive lesson learned!
