Tools: Snips, scissors, long nose pliers, cable tie, bradawl/skinny sharp screw driver.
Check: Is it a plastic (Vison) or metal zip ie do you need a platic or metal slider? Size (probably will be no. 10). Check for broken teeth on zip track, to see how far slider can go.
Clean off any caked-in salt on the zip track.
Chose the correct end of the zip track to start on i.e. the end where the slider starts (i.e. where the zip/bag will be fully open), the pointy end of slider faces the direction of travel.
After cutting out the teeth and before joining both zip tracks onto the slider, run the slider the length of one track and then the other to check again for broken teeth and salt that needs to be cleaned off.
After the slider is on and connected to both zip coils/tracks, use a cable tie instead of thread to "lock" the starting/bag open-end of the zips.
You can also place a second slider starting at the opposite end, (slider point end facing the new direction of travel). Handy way to deal with broken teeth in the middle of the track. Close off 1 track (not both) with a cable tie to stop both sliders coming off where the teeth are broken.

For the smaller #5 zips, use waterproof/marine quality zips. Dont use the cheap Amazon metal pack in the video - it corrodes in no time.
Also, make sure the “collar” on the bottom of the slider is not taller than the collar on the top. These ones look correct www.profabrics... or www.sailrite.c... .
For Vison zips, get a Vison slider, not a coil one (Vison zips have chunky plastic teeth (eg, cam sail zip, sail bag). Also, pull a few teeth out individually rather than cutting the webbing like I did for the coil zips in the video. You might be able to get replacement teeth too.
