These type of split/cracks can be fixed with minimal tools and equipment. I fixed this cracked table top with carpenters glue, ratchet straps and squeeze clamps. It took me about half and hour and now the table can be restored to get a new life. Thanks for watching!

Three things come to mind watching this. 1) get a glue syringe...much better for getting glue into cracks. 2) do a test clamp up before you apply glue...don't work out your clamping as the glue is drying in the repair.....that's pretty standard...3) using a screw to separate the clamp from the table!! Earlier you said you didn't want to damage the table with the strap but now you've got a screw contacting the table!! Get some thin teflon sheet or even waxpaper to do that job.

It is just going to crack again unless you let the top float on the base, to allow for expansion and contraction

I have an antique dresser I just picked up tonight with a cracked top. I'm following your tutorial and hopefully my fix turns out as good as yours

I said the table was hardwood, but it seems like Pine. Regardless of the wood, the glued joint should keep things together very well!

Good idea, it's probably a nightmare for me because I don't know the right techniques. Thanks for your comments :)

The same thing happened with my 5-6 months old dining table. Why does this happen though?

Sorry for the late reply, If it’s where two boards are joined, it’s probably because there wasn’t enough glue. (I’m far from being an expert though)

What if my table is not open on the bottom? Mine has drawers

Maybe see if the gap can be closed with only clamps? (Try it before putting in the glue, and make sure you put something to protect the edges)

Where did you get those clamps??

Hey, those clamps are from Princess Auto. I believe the American equivalent would be Harbor Freight. Cheers!

Hi! Do you think I could do this with just the straps? Thanks.

Test if you can put the strap around and close the gap without glue. If it closes tight and in the right spot, then I would think you're safe to use only the straps 👍

Have 18 dogs, only one is neutered lol and I regret doing it.

I don't believe in absolutes. If you have 18 dogs and are taking care of them, then go for it! 🐕

@@LegacyCraftworks I'm all for catch and release spay and neutering of stray dogs. Our fixed boy had an undescended testicle which could have caused problems in the long run. On top of that he has neurological disorders and had already successfully escaped to get our sled dog pregnant. We kept all but one of the puppies. The one moved in with my dad next door lol they all just turned one in May. After fixing our boy his behavior got much worse. If I was to do it over again I would have the one undescended testicle either removed or put into it's proper place and then have him get a vasectomy so he can keep his sex hormones. Luckily none of his puppies have his neurological disorders. I have videos of me hiking and playing fetch with them, along with my other dogs.
