Most likely that Aldi sold this mower for a very economical price - probably to people that had a small flat yard. While the mower was made in China, they used a B&S motor - which brought the quality up some. It probably wasn't made/priced to last like top of the line mowers were.
I'm trying to remember if I saw one of these for sale a couple of years ago. But to be honest, I never wanted to buy lawn stuff from Aldi, just groceries.
Yeah, they are sold heaps in Australia. Quite common for a gardenline to be seen here. Pretty cheap and light mowers and indeed even in Australia they have very little customer service. Sold in Aldi. They make self propelled variants with keystart mulching, side chute etc. Pretty good brand for the price point nether the less
I have the self propelled gardenline with an automatic primer I've had it 6 years annual oil and filter change and still working a treat. I brought a spare blade for it and swap them over . And while one is off I sharpen and ballance at a convenient time. The one I have shares parts with a brand called Qualcast which is a well known brand in the uk. For £179.99 I'm well pleased with it.
The water in gas is from the ethanol absorbing it. When you remove the ethanol/water, you also lower the octane. The Briggs motor has standard shaft size and blade holder/drive so there isn't the slightest issue getting a new blade when needed. New air filter will be 'off the shelf at big box store' as will be stop cable (it isn't even connected to carburettor) The deck, handlebars, etc, isn't 'consumable so why worry? When it rusts out, mower is scrap anyway as repairs will probably be more expensive than a new one
I like this answer, but you didn't mention any part numbers. Also some of the non-consumable parts do break over time. I'd like a price quote on one of the wheels, the left side, "lower" handle bar, and I would like an OEM brake cable, not a universal one. If you look, you won't find this information .
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGEI was a motorcycle technician, service manager, instructor,. Working on mowers is super simple when you find generic information. Briggs need 0.006" air gap on flywheel to ignition coil, less, they rub, more, no spark Just search generic parts no need for part numbers and OEM pricing. Or, use from a different mower with completely dead engine. Doesn't need to be same manufacturer as long as diameters are correct . It's an 'off brand' not a 10/10 restoration to museum quality
I remember the first customer I serviced gave me an old snapper self propelled push mower with a Briggs engine on it. The problem was the governor kept blocking the choke which jammed the carb choke door and the carb needed to be cleaned, a few days later I was motivated to fix it. Right after I cleaned it and put a piece of rubber on the governor it fired right up! Thanks for your very informative videos!❤
I just found this. I have a 2013 Bolens that I had work done on. I checked and cleaned the carb and found the float needle missing. Got a new one (wrong type) it's a rubber tipped one. Replaced blad, changed oil and replaced sir filter. Ran then quit. I haven't figured it out yet. It even had the wrong size and type plug, changed it and capped it. Lived cables and wheels. When it ran it was loud and may need a muffler. I'll go through the carb and cartridge and see if it's dirty. Appreciate the insite! Mow happy!
In my opinion, altho it is an off brand mower name it still has a briggs engine which parts for it can be easier found. I do appreciate the fact that it has the bar for easier adjustment for the height. Im using a 2001 Poulan pro pr6y22chb front wheel self propelled mulcher/bagger/side discharge. I fixed it, and now it works like day it was made. Love your content as always
Had that same one that my father-in-law bought at ALDI. Gave it to my son-in-law after dad’s death. He proceeded to use it for one year then the next season he left the bag out by the alley after emptying out the grass clippings and some m-effer took the bag. Could never find a replacement bag. Even called poulan support. No go. So I took it back and someone stole it out of the rear of my truck when I parked in Chicago visiting a friend. He bought a Toro.
@@tonymaiettasr.7340 That's such a shame someone would steal a mower right off your truck. My opinion, these mowers are decent if taken care. Well I should say any mowers can be decent if taken care of. I'm sorry some piece of garbage stole your mower. The one one thing I hate more than anything, is a theif
Used to seeing these kind of mowers on other channels across the pond very unique one maybe that's why hard to find parts? Since maybe in another part of the world despite the search
In Australia most Aldi mowers are Chinese copies. Amazed this had a B&S motor. Apart from some basic care and maintenance hard to find bits for. Most mower shops will not repair these or Kmart branded mowers for the same reason. Good for small yards or emergency mower.
My mower is a Yard Force brand sold by our local hardware store. It is a good mower. I am not sure on parts availability yet, because I have not needed to buy any. I’m certain I can get them from the shop I bought it from.
It depends on if the deck parts from other more recognizable machines work or if I can get parts, like the wheel bearings, doing just a quick search for that piece.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I use Parts Tree to look up parts on allot of this stuff. If the tag is missing and doesn't have a model you can type in a cheater way is to look at the CPSC cable and they almost always have the part # on them . Put that in the parts search and it will list the models it was used on and you can usually find it .
I'd be more apt to buy that one than a self propelled because I only use a push mower for trim work, getting in between bushes and mowing around trees, edging, etc. I have never washed down a push mower the way you did, whether the manual say's to or not, lol, and my 20" Murray with it's 3.5hp Briggs Classic is still going strong after 26 years.
If the price was right I'd buy it, she's a nice little mower. The engine date code is too the right of the oil fill port on the block, might be a little hard too see if the paint flaked off.
Somehow never stumbled on this sister channel. Heard your signature tagline at the start and was wondering if it was a copycat channel. Good to know it's still the same good quality content. Keep up the great content.
If it cost anything it had better not be much BUT if I needed something to cut grass I'd grab it in a second. Brand name stuff is nice but it has to prove itself with me and I usually get what I've already used before. That's a nice mower but needs a blade and a good balance. That'd help with the vibration that shakes everything apaprt. Happy week
I've seen a few of them Gardenline mowers in Sweden. Not the best of the budget mowers but not the worse. I probably would have passed on that one because I'm no fan of the 500E series B&S. Low power, plastic carb and plastic cam.
You can use the parts off the engine if it’s not repairable or parts not available for the mower frame, the engine being Briggs & Stratton parts ain’t an issue..😊 Great you got it started… Question did it come with catcher?
For someone with a small yard (town house, city life) this cheap mower would work just fine. I can't imagine it's any worse than one of them any entry-level, cheap MTD ones. Sure, the deck and handles aren't great, but honestly they are making decks and handles so cheap and thin now it doesn't really matter to most people. I just worked on one of the many MTD machines with a Chinese 80cc engine.....can't be much worse lol
Those model Briggs and Stratton engines are junk! The aluminum cases are paper thin and subject to leaking and cracking. Also, the plastic carburetors are the worst design ever and they like to gum up with deposits from ethanol fuels. That’s just my professional opinion of those. I had a small engine repair shop before the Wuhan virus lockdowns shut everything down. I still repair machines on the side, but now, I pick and choose which machines I want to work on. Lol. Great content! Take care.
Yep, it's a Briggs and Scrappem. I was given a 'name brand' mower with a big end knock, connecting rod bolts were loose because rod wasn't made properly and hole was too small so locked up when tightened. Had to hone out big end eye few thousandths to make it run, luckily I had the equipment from working on motorcycles last 50 years but ordinary backyard mechanic or even most shops would not be able to do it.
I have a 2020 Toro with a GTS 140cc Briggs and Straton engine and have not been able to find valve lash data. Any help on this would surely be appreciated. Love your channel and the content. Keep up the awesome work.
Hi. After washing was it necessary to blow dry all the parts or not. I have been concerned about using a hose on anything other than under the deck. Great vid. Cheers.
If you're only washing the underside of the deck, instead of blow drying it, I would just turn on the mower for about 2 minutes. If you're asking about the water on the engine or the top side of the mower, no you don't have to blow dry it.
I thought at first that the mower is a Certified brand as a Canadian lawn mower manufacturer since it's painted green. It assume the Gardenline brand is from Europe.
No, thank you for the work and detail that you use in your vids. You should have 10 times the amount of followers. Wish more people in this time could take an interest in learning how to do this kind of work 😁
