A buddy of mine bought 10 Super Famicoms online, and wants me to take a look at them and get them cleaned up. In this video, I'll go through them, open them up, clean them and try and get the best looking parts together to make a few good looking SFCs.
Want to buy me a beer? Or a broken console? Hit up the donate link (But only if you want, don't feel obligated). www.paypal.com...
Thanks for watching

Right? I was kicking myself, it's not the first time I've forgotten something like that.

Not sure if it has ever been mentioned... When reinstalling screws into plastic, turn backwards with a slight downward pressure until you feel the 'click', then you can follow the original threads.

Good tip. I'm not sure if I mention that or not, but definitely a good way to make sure you're not stripping the plastic. If it feels like you're forcing a screw in... Stop!

Really loving the "fixing ebay junk videos". I do it for myself from time to time. Keep it up!

Cool video! really helped me with cleaning my PAL snes, tho my one still dosen't work, even when I cleaned it really good, the TV screen just shows a black screen. Oh and also when I turn it on the led lamp turns red, and when I click the reset button the screen goes static for a moment. Would appreciate any advice of how to fix it (if it's even possible lol)

Love to watch these "fixing ebay junk" videos :) Just one suggestion, as there's serial number in the bottom peace, maybe it would be good practise to keep the electronics and original bottom peace together so the electronics with it's possible revisions would stay with the original serial number?
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
That's a good point. I wonder if I can find anywhere online that can indicate what the serial numbers mean? I've read somewhere that the serial numbers on the North American SNES are meaningless, as they just have a pile of cases and there's no real structure to what numbers have what boards for a fairly significant chunk of its run. Not sure if that's true or not.

They are basically higher in newer revisions as it should be. The best database i know of is docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q1H5eQYEG_evwpVmAVMAXa9UC6SAcvblr5igUnmpwRk/pub?output=html

Nothing is harder than taking the shell off a Wii remote. Taking apart the top pieces off the Super Famicons had to have been easy compared to that... Its also a pain to work on a DS... Those ribbon cables are so annoying.
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
CroMaLaka I've never tried taking apart a wii, but there's alot going on with those controllers, I would imagine it's a pain to work with
@QuietAfternoon

CroMaLaka my wii remote still dirty inside because of it, i dont know why they made it like that
@CroMaLaka
@CroMaLaka 7 лет назад
It's really easy once you got the shell off. They are surprisingly simple. Also the worst part is forgetting to put the speaker back in, and having to take it apart again...

Also DS games being a bitch to open up. They basically get screwed up once you open them

They actually did have an add on for the super Famicom called the BSX satlaview that was like an online game downloading service but using satellite technologies not dsl or cable broadband internet technology's you couldn't play multiplayer online games against friends though just download and play exclusives games as well as watch satellite TV channels and radio stations !

Derek Washuck pretty cool. Best we had here was the game gear tv tuner.

31:34 you forgot the little translucent plastic part that covers the power LED on the top
@Ma7hiu5
@Ma7hiu5 7 лет назад
Have you thought about repainting the parts with a primer and top coat, I know it would kinda ruin the 'original' feel, but if you can match the colours to the original, might be an idea.
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
Ma7hiu5 I've done it with a couple sega genesis models, and could definitely do it with some of these bad ones. For some reason though the thought didn't cross my mind again

Silly question but why don't you just retr0bright those ?
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
LFOSyncToo that's my plan. The ones that aren't too bad I am going to try. The ones that are super yellow are probably not going to get significantly better.

Hi, I was wondering if you could please help me to fix my PSP 2000 model, the disk spins but does not read any umd and I do not know what to do, I would appreciate a lot if you could help me :)
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
It's tough to say. I've never tried opening and working around a PSP, but my thought is maybe the laser is starting to go? I would try cleaning it first, but it could be a couple of things. I'm just not familiar with the system.
@QuietAfternoon
@QuietAfternoon 7 лет назад
RetroRepairs okay, i will try cleaning it, maybe with some compress air. I will reply if there is any progress :)
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 7 лет назад
Quiet Afternoon usually cleaning a laser involves disassembling down to the laser and cleaning with alcohol.
@QuietAfternoon
@QuietAfternoon 7 лет назад
Great news, apparently the reader was only dirty, worked just fine after I took it apart and cleaned it with some alcohol. Thanks for helping me :)
@RetroRepairs

Quiet Afternoon great to hear. Hardware itself doesn't fail too often, a lot of the time it just needs a cleaning

Oh man, I don't have the space for that. I've got a hard time stashing my boxes of busted systems and bad boards as it is. I'm sitting on about 5 SNES, these 10 SFC and a handful of Genesis I've still got to clean and sell.

I just checked my ols Snes and it says 1995 NINTENDO SNSP - CPU - 1CHIP - 02 so it seems to me i had 1 for years and never knew hahaha
@RetroRepairs

Nice, those are pretty uncommon, and the best board.
@Belfree
@Belfree 6 лет назад
only problem is that i dont use it anymore and i want to sell it what should be a goor price? with cables and 3 or 4 controlers (need to check) and a few old games that i dont remember haha
@RetroRepairs
@RetroRepairs 6 лет назад
burnout1981 hard to say. The average person doesn't care about which board revision you have, and somebody serious about collecting and who wants a 1chip probably wouldn't be willing to pay a huge amount either. Probably whatever the going rate for a snes bundle is. I usually try and get $150 for a snes with two controllers and super mario world. It will depend on what the games are too
@Belfree

Mario Allstars a F1 game and a tennis game that i know of haha. But thanks for the information. Maybe i'll put it up on Ebay some time and see what it will go for.
