Now that's a smart idea, hopefully we will see these everywhere is a couple of years time. Particularly like the way everybody is accountable (especially minimising the confrontations with noisy campers!)
@@TravellingK Absolutely, we have similar issues in Aussie. That model should work well here. There is always some opposition to Council provided "free" camp sites. Personally, I am more than happy with a user pays system. Pay only for items used, power, washing machines, showers etc. is very fair. Currently, I avoid establishments which insist on providing and charging me for bouncy castles, swimming pools, wi fi, power, dodgy ablution blocks and associated unnecessary conveniences . I am self contained, but would definately avail myself of your user pays services !
This sounds like the greatest thing since DOC camps. With NZ abolishing freedom camping as we know it 😔 sites like these will be more in demand! So thanks for giving us an alternative to other more expensive camping grounds 😊
This is an AMAZING service that should go INTERNATIONAL !!!!!! Kudos and Congrats to him !!!! Thank You so much for this interview and for All that you do !!!!
What an AWESOME video, Karen ..... Chris is doing things "right" and moving in the RIGHT direction !!! "thanks for doing this interview, and making tourists AWARE of these services :) :) :) Chris is correct, ... it IS a "Win / Win" for ALL !!
Absolutely wonderful video. Clever idea. Focused, simple with smart use of Tech. Obviously getting buy in from all major stakeholders. I look fwd to visiting some of these facilities! Wish you EVERY SUCESS guys!
@@TravellingK he needs to try to lock down and franchise his idea. This would be a great opportunity for him financially and fabulous benefit to campers and RVer's...and i love the enthusiasm.
This looks to be a really good and sound business plan and on many levels. I hope it takes off and becomes a nationwide success for him. May I please ask what the object was that was fixed to the wall behind where you were sitting Karen?
Fantastic idea. They are needed all over NZ. Has he considered having a barcode on a phone app instead of the physical key that can be lost or stollen? It would be more convenient.
@@TravellingK I think it's a great idea, everyone's needs are always slightly differant and often so are their budgets. So where this system operates they can have whatever they want, but then don't have to pay for what they dont want. I hope the chap does well.
@@TravellingK Absolutely. It is getting harder to find overnight parking for those long trips when you don't want to pay for a full campground. This would be a great option.
Great idea...go buy some land K put in a kiwicamp ..Use it as a base... get someone to manage it for free camping... and you will still be able to travel around
I haven’t finished watching so sorry if the answer is somewhere in this video but : can we use the facilities without staying for the night? Because otherwise, how is it different from a regular “low-cost” campsite if you need to pay 10$ + pay for everything else you use in there?! Can you go and just pay for what you use ?
Hmmm I think you're charged $10 as soon as you go through the boom gate. But it sounded like some places will have the ability to just charge power during the day while you go to the supermarket. I think each council and camp will be modified to suit the needs in the area?
Hi k. A idea like this would surely come under the provincial growth fund. Have nation wide network of these would be awesome, would go a long way to help out with freedom campers
Any issues if you lose your KiwiCash Tag? Or can there more than one tag for the same account, i.e. a family to use & to use different facilities at the same time?
It's a good idea, but unless the system blanket covers NZ, it's too little for to much. Less mucky tourists who come to this country for its 'clean' environment, then pollute it.
@@TravellingK One of the biggest problems with NZ tourism is that there is NO real education. A lot of people travel here for the first time in their lives from countries with different conditions and culture. I always thought a entry fee and permit should be required for travellers who stay over 2 weeks. The permit requires an online training course to complete about leave no trace principles and respect to communities etc.
