Luke you are a champion, thank you for all the hard work on thw wiki, im part of your discord and have repaired multiple switches by following your wiki. Thank you kindly sir
You're a rock star! Thanks so much for posting these videos. I had a GG that would boot with a red light. Backlight on. When it boot it would go off and I'd have to wiggle the power cable. Thought it was maybe a cold solder on the board. After i replaced all the caps it would only power on for a second and back off. I discovered from searching "GG power on one second" your wealth of knowledge of videos. You've got amazing skills. I only wish i could troubleshoot like you can. I'm decent at soldering.
Can you enable the thanks button. I find these videos extremely informative and also your repair wiki is the best I've ever seen for retro game repair. The fact you probe signals and frequencies to better diagnose is great. Thank you.
I wish you would do a video on repairing a "no red light boot" on a 1 chip ASIC. All yours are 2 chips and the capacitors are in different places and numbers, etc.
Thank you so much! I pulled my game gear out of storage this past weekend. It started off fine but when I turned it off it refused to turn back on. I bought your CleanPower GG and I still couldnt get it back. I followed this tutorial and found the voltages were low. The game gear was the first device I ever repaired myself using a soldering iron and was the first console that I ever modded by installing an LED backlight. I bypassed the VBAT circutry and now it's on again! Question though, is it safe to leave that bypass using the CleanPower GG or should I do something to repair it? Is there any downside to keeping it as is? Thanks again!
In the very first test you do from the power board ground to the red light ground pin 302 I get no continuity or ground. What's the problem here something wrong on the power board or bad red light resistor?
Hi, I’ve recapped my GG and am using CleanPower and CleanSound. It boots to red light, sound is playing and buttons arr working, but the screen is black. I have a CleanScreen kit waiting ti be installed. Before I do, is the console ready or do I need to fix anything first? Thanks!
I'm trying to fix a game gear (2-asic) with a strange problem, it works and gives video until the moment when the game needs to emit some sound/music, when music plays the console simply reboots, have you ever fixed something like that? Could you give me any tips on where to begin?
do you have any estimate as to when you will be getting the clean screen kits for the game gear back in stock? after reviving my busted gameboy color with your help and adding quite a few QoL improvements to it I feel confident enough to move on to modding a game gear.
Currently working on a Single Asic GG. When I turn it off for example in a middle of gameplay, then when I turn it on, it continues on that gameplay. Turning the console doesn't reset the system.
@@RetroSix thank you so much for answering this , i feel it s important to know how stuff we try to repair broke in the first place! Great video and thank you so much for all the knowledge you are spreading on us !
