I have an HP laptop and the Oculus rift, it’s my first Vr headset. For some reason the video won’t show when everything is plugged in, is there perhaps something in the laptop that I’m missing? (The audio works fine.)

My rift had been working perfectly for 4 months then one day it suddenly stopped . My brother was taking it off his head then it all went black . As you said the cable might have came loose so I'm going to see tomorrow if I can get it working

I did what you've recommended. I bought a DP -> HDMI to use with my display (50" 60hz tv) and got everything to work BUT.... I am getting audio latency thru the DP. I can hear things first on my Rift before I hear them thru my TV.... ANY IDEAS WHAT'S GOING ON? Thanks

I only have 1 HDMI port in the computer. Can you not use a splitter? It pops up on the setup that it’s searching for connection but never does find it.

splitters just copy a screen so no you cant for example i plugged 2 tvs and 1 pc into a splitter on both the tvs is the same image of the computer

what if I have to use an adapter for the display port? Like I have it plugged in and everything along with the HDMI cord and at first it says it is connected, but after a few seconds it disconnects.

Do I have to use a DisplayPort to hdmi? to Connect the monitor because I use a Acer vr headset and I Connect to the monitor by hdmi to dvi-d to my graphics card. left lens does not work on the headset only the right lens please help!

You should also demonstrate the software setup, so the viewers know that it works. I am still having issues after plugging/unplug and restart.

I've had Success with the Cable Matters DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, but that was running to a TV at 60hz, rather than a monitor, maybe higher refresh rates can cause problems? in an ideal world everything would use DP, long live DisplayPort MasterRace

Try changing the port the usb part is plugged into, but it only worked after I unplugged and replaced the cable on the headset’s end

Oculus has issues with the free beta program if you are signed up for it. Its in the oculus settings. RIght now they have issues with games cutting out and/or the screen going black for no reason as if your oculus has lost connection to the HDMI port.

Yeah, needs lots of work, I got some black screens and ended up restarting my pc. Steam vr beta mode has some issues too.

Just bought the Oculus Rift and got started with the first VR Demo. All was working fine. Then I wanted to start Steam VR. It said it couldn't find the Headset. After I wasn't able to get Steam VR to work I installed the newest driverst for my Radeon r480 (17.5 -> 18.8.1). Now I can't get an HDMI connection to the headset anymore :/ . (even in the oculus setup program)

@@camilo.correa.a Sorry for the late answer. Using the Radeon 18.4.1 drivers worked for me.

@@twr4555 Sorry for the late answer. I know you have an NVIDIA card but using the Radeon 18.4.1 drivers (a few versions older than the latest) worked for me. Maybe older drivers work for you too, if you are still having that problem. I did the HDMI connection by the book, meaning plugging it in when the oculus setup told me to. Before the driver update it was working, after that it wasn't able to find the plugged in HDMI connection.

Hmm.. so, it says my headset is connected and tracking, but still can’t see anything.(and it has the orange led) I’m using a laptop(it’s a really good laptop), so it only has one hdmi port, any suggestions? (And I use adapters for my sensors because my laptop doesn’t have enough ports)

My Oculus doesn't work with my laptop, but with my PC it does. Once i have connected my Oculus rift in to my laptop my oculus starts flickering with grey pixel of snow and it also shows a black screen after using it a couple of minutes. I have ordered an injector that you need to connect to a power socket and connect both sides (all female A connectors) so it will have more power and hopefully will work.

So I had my headset for about 5 days and I had bought it off eBay and it worked fine for 5 days but one day I understand lugged the headset to play with my friends and once I was over plugged it back in and the hdmi won’t connect and I’ve tried everything updating all driver unplugging and replugging and nothing will fix it and it recognizes the usb but not the hdmi it is plugged into my gpu

It's quite common for people to make the simple mistake of plugging the headset into the motherboard rather than the GPU. And not everybody is aware that the cable can be disconnected at the headset end. There's also Adapters and USB bandwidth to concider (which is why testing with one sensor is important) . While the steps may seem straightforward they are not immediately obvious for eveyone. The main point is, if you follow this simple troubleshooting and the HDMI connection is still not working, there is no reason why it shouldn't work, which points to a hardware issue, and at that stage you would then have to contact Oculus Support.

Thank you for the video. our issue-cable failure. Ours is LIKE NEW. Always stored in the box and only used 5 times. It is the cable, it shorts at that crimped holding clamp on the head set. We are taking it back under warranty to get a new cable. To test this do what we did. BE WEARY not to move the cable during update and restart of the PC. make sure nothing Oculus is running and initialize as if playing. Then standing still once the game is on have another person barely touch the cable at the trouble spot. Ours failed 5 times in a row same spot and touch.

Just received an Oculus Rift for Christmas. This thing takes up 3-4 USB ports plus an HDMI port depending on how many sensors you're using. I have a 1070ti which has a single HDMI output. My monitor is HDMI so I just had to order a Display Port to HDMI adapter. I also have to use a USB extension for one of the sensors. This is somewhat irritating. I feel like this thing should come with a hub that has enough USB ports to support all the sensors plus the headset and flexibility to use display ports if desired. This way you're only plugging in two cables to your PC. I'll get it sorted, but it's a bit irritating.

Installing and configuring Oculus Rift was correct, the game Marvel Powers of Oculus goes well, the problem arises when I go to SteamVR, it does not load any game. I have to configure a room with SteamVR too? My PC is a Dell Alienware Aurora Intel® Core ™ i5 8400 (6-Core, 9MB Cache), video card, (NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5), 1 HDMI port . Thanks my friend. I was able to get mine to work after watching this video. Was a bit worried that it might have been my PC. I unplugged it from my mask ( both padding and cable was very easy to remove) Made sure that the plug went in firmly and put the mask back on. Everything on my end is good now. Have you made shure that your system32 file is up to date? Otherwise go ahead and remove the system32 folder and restart your pc and it will update.

My headphone volume is super low, everything in my comp is set to highest n when I use my Bluetooth headphones for RU-vid it work fine but for some reason my oculus headphone volume is low

i have this problem as well but my main issue with it is the headset keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 20 seconds or so and iv tried this patch downloading the latest drivers for the oculus and my gpu, i tryed switch ing the usb ports around, uninstalling the oculus software and reinstalling it, restarting my pc with a windows update if any one can help id aprriciate it very much -sorry to come to these comments and ask for help but I'm a little desperate

M Campbell yeah mines doing this too. Very finicky but if i can get it on without losing tracking it will be fine.... taking it off and putting it back on without it losing tracking is the issue...
