Why didn't Itachi get Fugaku's Mangekyou?

This is a different meaning of saying 'oh he has his dads eyes'

I honestly think Itachi just had regular old Tuberculosis and that the medical science of the ninja world and his status as a criminal prevented him from being treated.

I know your rewriting Naruto series takes a lot of effort but please do not stop it. It’s literally so good and reignites my love of Naruto

Itachi was the only Uchiha that wasn't looking for power, at least not for himself.

If Itachi was willing to go as far as to killing innocent children within his clan, he'd have no qualms taking Fugaku's MS if it means he could protect Sasuke and Konoha. So the only possible explanation is, Fugaku's MS was filler. You don't need MS to become an S rank Shinobi.

This isn't a plot hole. Itachi ripping out his own father's eyes just for the sake of power completely goes against his character. He's literally breaking down crying when he has to kill his parents; why would he follow it up with something so brutal, again, solely for the sake of power?

Another reason might be that you can't use an EMS to make another EMS. If you consider depiction of the Oni with two Sharingan and two empty sockets, taking another persons MS fills the empty sockets giving you EMS. But if you would take an EMS from someone it would be a total of 6 eyes.

Well best guess is his dad never was planned to have it. The real question is why didn't itachi destory as many sharigan eyes as possible? He pretty much left them all there to be harvested and like the Byakugan you can remove and use them even without being part of the clan.

Fugaku had no mangekyou sharingan in manga. They added it in anime.

1. The sharingan-exchange to unlock the EMS works only among BROTHERS. 2. Fugaku had no MS in the manga. It was filler.

If only Kishimoto had a character who can explain how the sharigan looks in greater detail. Maybe an amoral scientist who was obsessed with the Uchihas to the point he excessively cloned sharigan eyes with the mangekyo awakened. In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻‍♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷🏻‍♂️ ☯️

on 7min mark so idk if ur gonna mention this but it may be that eyes can only be transferred once. Like if Itachi got his dads eyes he would have ems but he would not be able to GIVE Sasuke the ems. Itachi would rather giving Sasuke ems than getting one himself so maye thats why. Also right during the massacre when Sasuke sees Itachi he tells Sasuke "Come find me when u haev eyes like me" implying that he knows about the ms transfer and ems during the massacre but chooses to keep his eyes natural to give them to Sasuke.

You forgot the most likely explanation: the filler episode was released after the episode where we saw the Uchiha Massacre. Therefore, Fugaku gained the mangekyo sharingan after his death. Easy clap.

Next plot hole should be the Hinata backstory. They clearly wanted to do more with that but I never gets brought up by Naruto when he meets the ones in charge and ask why they wanted to start a war they'd lose The anime has multiple times they reference and even repeat this plotline as Hinata being kidnapped could have been an interesting plotline or even have a bounty on her head that kakuzu would want to cash in. Plus it's also creepy when thinking about it now since she's you know a child and They'd definitely want more eye power to rival the leaf

15:19 I always thought that the anime can expand the canon a little bit futher, like there is an in between category between 100% manga canon and full filler episodes (Like Condor the Ostrich ninja), something like a filler-canon (they are just filling the empty spaces left by the manga, they are not doing unrelated stuff), just because something wasn’t directly shown in the manga doesn’t mean it’s necessarily un-canon. Episodes like this one, that revolve 100% around canonical events and don’t contradict the manga (just expand canonical events) could be considered canon at some point unless the manga proves the opposite. I’m just going for explanation 5): Kishimoto didn’t have the EMS mechanic on mind by the time he introduced Itachi.

I hate the fact that EMS or the eye damage from MS exists. I use my MS, I go blind. You use your MS, you go blind. I use your MS, which would've made you blind, but I don't go blind??? Seems like a copout by Kishimoto cause he realized that he needed Sasuke to not suddenly lose basically the source of all of his powers while also needing him to not become a blind ninja. I imagine the readers also enjoyed the Sharingan, and it'd be risky to eliminate something that's been iconic since the start of the series.

What's more intresting is he just left all the bodies on the spot. First arc of naruto, we learn that a shinobies body has lot of secrets and has to be destroyed or taken care. And these are all uchiha bodies !!!!.

I think the fact that Madara took Obito's eyes and was able to use Kamui, Obito's original MS ability, kinda proves that there are cases when someone can implant a sharingan in their eye socket without it becoming EMS and without overriding the original ability the other person unlocked. Hagaromo didn't nessicarily "jump" the whole eternal mangekyo sharingan step to rinnegan, albeit technically he may have he still has EMS abilities like having a more complete and fully formed susanoo (in one scene his susanoo was as big as the ten tails), he likely has everything (obviously), except from infinite tsukuyomi.

Itachi didnt use Fugaku's eyes mainky because I think it was a retcon that Fugaku had it. But surely Itachi was used his eyes way more than saskue over the years, there must be some level of regeneration over time to it

man the more of these kinds of videos you do the more I'd like to just have a lore book filled with what if scenarios by kishimoto Like. What if Kushina had succeeded in dragging kurama back into herself (she most likely would have lived, even if it crippled her, but still) What if Itachi had somehow gotten both of Shisui's eyes when he died and used them to awaken EMS? What if Naruto being Minato's son had been an open secret in the village, because Hiruzen actually took taking care of naruto a little more seriously when the secret about him being Kurama's jail cell got out? There's just a bunch of stuff that alters the plot dramatically if things play out even a little differently and I want a lorebook from Kishimoto on all of that. There's just a ton of lore that could be further revised and even refined by knowing the potential alternate outcomes to pivotal moments.

And another plot hole is how was shisui able to unlock four tomoe compared to Itachi's three tomoe.....the eye shisui gave Itachi could have more or less save him. Deep down I think characters like Itachi, Neji and Jiraiya chose death on their own free will for a just sacrifice.

The part when it says that you need sibling for that should be true because it makes sense before and after possible "Itachi the good guy" retcon, he left saske alive for himeslf to get EMS to become stonger (if we consider him a maniac that wanted to test his skills so killed everyone in his clan) and because he wanted to save his brother and later make him stronger somehow

Before i get into listening, i think the directions for obtaining EMS is on the secret Uchiha tablets and couldn't be read without MS. Itachi probably didnt go look at the tablet in the small gap of time between his awakening and the massacre.

Saw someone say you might not be able to use an EMS to make another EMS cause it’s like 6 eyes in two. (Which could make sense) Saw someone else say it was only added in the anime for fugaku to have them but not in the manga. But most importantly, itachi probably just wanted to die once Sasuke was able to kill him. His plan was for Sasuke to become a hero and most likely to return to the leaf village. He was shocked after hearing he didn’t do that after being reanimated. Itachi probably felt guilt and wanted a stronger uchiha who’s a hero take over the name and protect the leaf. He’s kinda like that, he wanted to pass on everything to the future. i.e Sasuke becoming a hero.

I can think of 2 good reasons he wouldn’t transplant Fugaku’s eyes even if Itachi knew about EMS at that time. Reason one, Itachi is not as heartless as you say. We know he was balling his eyes out when killing his parents. If Itachi thought he could accomplish his plan without EMS, then why steal his Father’s eyes? I guess you could argue that with EMS Itachi could solo the Akatsuki and kill them off in pairs (or just kill the biggest threat Obito), and I would agree he’d likely be capable of that with EMS but that’s a risky plan. Maybe he also thought that unlocking EMS could taint his heart as he gained more power. Reason two, his EMS would be too powerful and could get stolen from him. Imagine how valuable Itachi’s EMS could have been to someone like Obito, or just anyone who had large chakra reserves to fully abuse it. Even people like Danzo or Orochimaru come to mind as people you wouldn’t want getting those eyes.

It makes me wonder if anyone related to the reincarnation of Indra is DESTINED to awaken a Mangekyou sharingan just for the sole purpose of Indra's incarnation to get the Eternal Mangekyou.

How about even tho they didn't knew, in order to unlock EMS you need to be a reincarnation of indra, same as with the Rinnegan only Indra's reincarnation can get it also. Tbh make a little bit of sense since the only 2 character to unlock both rinnegan and EMS were Sasuke and Madara

Wasn't it stated in Itachi story, that is Canon, that his father has the mongekyou? I don't remember exactly TBH, but I always got the feeling it is Canon, they also state that our man Fukaku is as strong as the yellow flash but doesn't get the recognition. Now, without mongekyou I'm not sure how Fukaku would be as strong as Minato. And even if he didn't know all the details, he knew Danzo was after Shisui eyes, he knows that Shisui giften him the eye so it's not useless, so honestly, Itachi should have taken all the sharingans laying there, so that Danzo doesn't get more powerful, and so that potential enemies, like Akatsuki or Orochimaru, don't get their hands on the sharingan. Now, we all know the reason why Itachi never did that. Initially Kishi didn't plan for Sharingan to evolve into Mongekyou, and I think he didn't plan for the Sharingan to work like a light bulb at the beginning, and then he had to stick to the flashback he already made. Although it would be pretty easy to add a nightmare on Sasuke where he turns his dad over and then he sees his face withouth eyes in the sockets. Like, from all the red cons, this would be the easiest to fix. Oh, and you can find a 5th reason why itachi didn't awaken eternal. We never saw an eternal mongekyou being transfered to somebody else, so maybe once you awaken it it's impossible to give the eyes to another Uchiha to awaken their eternal, and thus decided that Sasuke will be the one from the 2 of them to have the EMS. Especially since he is just a criminal, and Sasuke would have better chances to protect both himself and the village with EMS which is basically what he does later as the "shadow Hokage"

Fugaku originally never had Mangekyo Sharingan that was a last minute recon, plus it was kind of waste giving it to him because we never saw him use it.

A few misconceptions, the strongest genjutsu is kotoamatsukami under infinite tsukuyomi. Also you mentioned how itachi might've known about EMS afterwards but even if so, he was allied with obito at the time who assisted him with the killings. Obito then collected every eye and have them stored for future use. Perfectly preserved. Also you do not need a sibling since during earlier times where izanagi was invented, it was not sibling killings all the time for their ems but rather any killings of others with ms. When itachi says he need's sasukes eye, its simple manipulation to keep the picture of him being evil and selfish. Now the canon theory is most feasible under what I feel is, itachi didn't take the eye out of respect. And he never needed it because he didn't use the eyes enough till blindness till his death. Which was planned.

I think the best reason is that itachi if had ems, sasuke woupdn't be able to kill him. Because if you remember back to sasuke vs itachi fight. Sasuke didn't kill itachi, itachi died to his illness in front of sasuke. Meaning if the illness was a side-effect of the ms, then if itachi had the ems instead of the ms. Then itachi would either kill sasuke accidently or stop himself from killing sasuke and explain himself. Imagine sasuke's reaction to itachi stopping their to the death fight right before sasuke dies to explain the truth to him.

Oh my god, I watched 100 episodes of naruto and all of shippudan and never realized the night naruto is born and the night the ochiha family are killed are like 5 years apart, I always thought it was the same night! Like didn't tobi talk to itachi about organizing an attack together???

I mean also the fact that he was only 13 years old and just killed his parents. I mean he could’ve been pretty traumatized and overwhelmed and not thought of taking his dads eyes in that moment. Seems pretty reasonable as well. Maybe by the time he did find out how to obtain EMS Fugakus eyes had already decayed or obito collected fugakus eyes after Itachi left and hid them from him.

I wanna know how he got/found the totsuka blade and yata mirror. and if they can be found by someone else after his death. or if there are more of these artifacts. if so, how can they be made? that is one of the most interesting unexplored parts of the story imo

You know what’s a plot hole to me? Why didn’t sasuke and madara get their brothers MS abilities when they transplanted their eyes? It makes zero sense for those abilities to just disappear. Probably just another example of kishimoto nerfing sasuke but I still think it’s weird that he can’t use tsukuyomi with Itachi’s eyes.

Putting aside Fugaku’s Mangekyou Sharingan isn’t cannon, there is also the Danzo Problem. Fagaku, as the chief of police, would have figured out what Danzo did to Shisui. It is likely he would have taken precautions to prevent the same happening to himself. A variant of the Hyuga clan sealing jutsu would have rendered his eyes unusable. Frankly, it’s kind of remarkable that that sealing jutsu isn’t standard for everyone with an ocular kekkei genkai in the Konohagakure.

He never got them because Fugaku doesn't have the MS. That's exclusive from the anime.

I think there’s another answer not highlighted in the video: *why* would itachi even want EMS? His goal is for sasuke to survive and become stronger. To do so, itachi wants sasuke to obtain the EMS from using his own eyes. If itachi got EMS and sasuke tried to implant them, we don’t actually know what would happen. He likely wouldn’t awaken any new power, he’d just have itachi’s EMS. It could potentially even go blind since itachi wouldn’t be using it. We just don’t know, and I don’t think itachi did either. It was a safer bet for him to leave his eyes as regular mangekyou so that sasuke could awaken a true EMS

Maybe desecrating corpses, especially familiar ones, is against Itachi’s moral compass

It was guilt. Itachi wanted to die by Sssuke's hand to make him a hero. If he already had the EMS, it would be counterproductive to that end. Plus, it would look suspicious to Sasuke that he wanted a second pair of eternal eyes.

To clarify Fugaku's MS *is* canon but the design of his MS is not so he does have a MS in canon we just dont know what it officially looks like

If itachi had ems, then how will sasuke get ems. Will he get a ems with 3 sharingan.

What if Itachi just didn’t want EMS? Itachi told sasuke to come after him when he unlocked MS bc he wanted Sasuke to have his eyes right? So that proves he knew about EMS right? After all his ultimate priority was always sasuke so maybe it didn’t matter to him whether his eyes went bad, as long as sasuke could have them.

We know they can screw out eyeballs so imagine just giving your brother the EMS then swapping eyes or just splitting them

Wait... wasn't it said in the anime that the implanted eyes HAVE to come from your brother?

Maybe itachi wanted Sasuke to take his eyes... and possibly ems can only be achieved once? (What i mean is: sasuke wouldnt be able to take itachis sharingan if it was ems)
