I’m in the middle of rear repair. Previous owner have already replaced the rear lines with flex lines and I found the leak towards the rear. Bought new ones off of Amazon from Auto Cooling Solutions. I’m excited to finally get the AC working since it haven’t since I bought the truck 2 years ago. Fun fact. One of the main reasons I went for a 2005 Suburban Z71 was from watching this here channel. Inspirational. Set me back 20 grand so far😂 Having so much fun!

A few things of note: 1. I never skip commercials so Matt always gets full ad revenue. 2. I had my rear line on my 800 have a pinhole and the same style compression fitting at ACE worked great. 3. Go to Harbor Freight and pick up one of their refrigerant detectors. I found that my splice still had a tiny leak that the sniffer found. I had to really crank down the fitting to get it sealed properly. 4. This is one of the few channels that all of the content is consumed. Keep up the great informative videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

My AC just failed on my 03 Tahoe on my way home from work on the hottest week of the year so far. Pressure was good in my lines. Checked fuses and my AC fuse was popped. Replaced it, immediately popped again. A day later the compressor has bearing noise. New factory replacement compressor from the local auto parts store is almost $600. Chineseum ones on Amazon about $130, with bad reviews due to premature failure. Everyone online says just replace the clutch assembly. My current clutch is now removed but it's an extremely frustrating ordeal because you have to remove snap rings holding the hub assembly on and you can't see them. I just kept going at blindly jabbing my snap ring pliers and got it after about 20 minutes. Now, just waiting for my replacement clutch to arrive.
@Qballl
@Qballl Месяц назад
Damn 600 for a compressor or 130 for a cheapo thanks gonna make you do the work twice. I see why you went the clutch replacement route. I would've rolled the dice on a pick n pull one but that's me. TBF tho if it is just a bad clutch then your way is better because you know the compressor is good
@RYTHMICRIOT
@RYTHMICRIOT Месяц назад
@@Qballl yeah the $600 is an AC Delco. The local parts store had another brand for around $350 but I watched a couple RU-vid videos and most said it's rare that the compressor fails and also almost always the clutch. Also replacing the clutch doesn't require you to purge your refrigerant and recharge after.
@Qballl

@RYTHMICRIOT
@RYTHMICRIOT Месяц назад
@@shadowopsairman1583 maybe. But half of the ball bearings in the clutch assembly were missing when I pulled it and they were as dry as sand. Makes a crunchy sound when spinning by hand. Also a considerably sized chunk of the coil pack inside the clutch assembly had broken free which tells me why it's popping fuses.

7 or 8 years ago i fixed my ac line with a compression fitting like this. Took it to a place to get recharged and the owner swore it wouldnt work. It worked and as he was finished a guy pulled up with the same issue. I showed him how i did it and he charged him for the fix and didnt charge me for the recharge.

Should of used a tube cutter to avoid metal shavings getting into the tubing. That said, using a compression fitting is creative over trying to solder the hole. I have a vette that has a pinhole leak and I may have to consider this method.

You know what's worse? Gm decided to add a pre flash on the ECU for the 2009-14 models to indicate that the coolant levels low and add coolant level light for sensors inside the radiators of said models. Despite that! The 07-09 models do not have this sensor inside the radiator but as I mentioned the stupid ECU flash, and Everytime I start my Escalade multiple times a day, that coolant low light will come on and murder the cold Ac for my passenger side and instead blast hot ass air while half the vehicle is blowing cold air. I love you GM love you.
@jsomething2
@jsomething2 Месяц назад
what? what's a pre flash? I think the coolent level sensor is in the over flow tank. Just replace it? but also, it shouldn't make your ac blow. hot, especially on just one side?

@@jsomething2 my bad, meant to say they put the software for future reference. Yeah, Everytime that light comes on it'll shut off the ac, and the cold air disappears from the passenger side of the vehicle. You can get a fix by taking it to a Cadillac dealer to have them remove that software since there's no actual sensor for the radiators of Escalades from 07-09
@jsomething2
@jsomething2 Месяц назад
@@bryanzamarripa4245 been my experience that gm can't remove any software from anything, especially useless service techs haha. they can bearly hook up the computer to and log into gm site. if there's and update with a fix for a bug. they can flash tust for you. usually about an hours labor. I've given up on them doing stuff from me. if you have a newer computer, therea a dongle for 140$ that can be used as a pass thru to flash the software you get from gm. the software access cost 45$ per vin and is good for all the modules that have an update available for them. but there's no way to down grading or make any changes to that software. it just is what it is. it's setup to pass thru your computer into the ecm without you even being able to save a copy for yourself.

Hey Matt, do you have any advice on how to get the style AC condenser in your Camaro AC video? I keep ordering condensers that look like the one you had in your video but they arrive and don’t match the whats in your video/the listing.
@MIkeDeltaVictor
@MIkeDeltaVictor Месяц назад
I need your opinion. I have an 11 yukon denali and after a while driving, the ac doesn't cool as much as it should. It has enough refrigerant but it seems like the compressor doesn't kick in as often as I feel it should. When it kicks on, it's cold. This happens especially when I've been driving a long time.
@TheRenaissanceBuilder
@TheRenaissanceBuilder Месяц назад
Check to see if your condenser coils are clean. What you are describing sounds like heat soak, another words the condenser is not getting rid of enough heat and so it stops condensing and with no liquid the system stops working. The next time it does that pull over and check your line temperatures quick. If the high side line just before the fitting (properly called the liquid line) is so hot you cant hold it for long, and your suction line is not “beer can cold” than the system is heat soaked. That’s assuming you are correct and its not low on refrigerant. The compressor will cycle based on high pressure. If you check it and the high side and its not very hot and the suction is not very cold and we assume the refrigerant is correct then you may have compressor issues.
