The Lego School Day set 60329 was expensive for what you got, But I really liked the curved building, so I bought it at a discount. But the building seemed only half built, with one end completely missing! So I fixed it !
Same mistake as the architects of the school I went to... flat roofs! Every time it rains, you'll have to have buckets in the 6th Form Common Room just like we did. 😉
It must have been a nationwide 6th form common room problem too... Ours was in a hut and I remember buckets on the floor!!!! (But at least we got to watch "Neighbours" at lunchtime!)
Great idea! I must admit I concentrated more on fixing the outside of the School, and what it looked like, rather than working on the interior, but when I have some time I'll work on the inside too.
Thanks, I'm glad other agree with me, although the set was expensive as it was, adding all these parts would have made it even MORE!!! I would have preferred to use the parts from the bus and bus stop in the building to finish it off. Thanks for commenting!
@@LegoMaster-tn5rl Yes, for the UK that is rare. - and I suppose that UK coaches look quite different to the standard "School Bus" that people think of.
I like all the little details of the school, but as a set it is underwhelming. It focusses way too much on the kid in the wheelchair, with a ramp for entrance to the school with only tiny steps and half the bus is accommodating a wheelchair. It is weird.
I know what you mean. As I said in the vid, the bus is now in my parts store, and I don’t mind the small steps but will probably extend them and lose the ramp. But I still REALLY like the look of the building… now that it’s finished!
@@MinifigJez I'm curious about what you can do with the upcoming apartment building combined with the city center. Since they are modules etc and modding is your thing. Perhaps switch them up and change them.
@@dgray3771 there are SO many sets coming out next week, I’m excited to start getting them and working on them. I STILL have city sets from this year with modding plans, that I haven’t got round to filming yet!!!!!
I've got this conspiracy theory (only half kidding) many of this type of façade City sets are meant to be bought 2x for a proper full build. I can see the bus doubled in length too. In fact it is isn't that bad idea since it might teach (a kid) following the instructions and then extending the aesthetics - hey, we live in a bureaucratic world with limited freedoms!
You have a good point, and that's exactly what I did for teh Family House recently, I had one. I bought a 2nd and made it in minor image and got, (what I think) is a pretty much perfect LEGO City house. It just looks so much more substantial than the original which suddenly looks very "thin" by comparison. If you're interested, you can see it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WANc3btXf5I.html while typing, I just realised that i've done this more often than I thought, proving your point... I doubled the Car wash: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uVEk95HjmDU.html I extended the Lego store, but it would have been better doubling it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cq_CgQm-QDE.html and I doubled the sandwich shop: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kcZdbmGaMrI.html
@@MinifigJez I noticed the the façade trend the first time buying and building the bank scene for a colleague. It was 3661 Bank & Money Transfer... The added police hatchback was completely unnecessary stinker... And probably back then ruined some ideas to buy twice. Weird to think they tried it again, bloating the bank set with even more crime and disaster in Police Chase at the Bank 60317!
@@magnuskallas In these sort of sets, I much prefer the buildings to the vehicles! In the second one, it was definitely over the top to have a police truck, AND a police helicopter AND a drone. The bank and escape vehicle would have been fine, and the bank could have been more substantial. - Maybe I'll get a second hand copy and MOD the bank!
I wanted to thank you again. Your mod inspired me to get an additional set (on clearance) and I’m also going to try to mod the school bus to be a little longer and taller. Thanks again for the great content. :)
Well done for finding this one on clearance, even Amazon haven't reduced it much or often. I'm really glad it inspired your own build. Lengthening the bus seems a great idea, from what I have seen of them in the USA I believe they are generally quite long. School busses in the UK are just regular busses, like the ones you get in the 60026 Town Square set: brickset.com/sets/60026-1/Town-Square
Hi Jez. Love these City Mods, do you have anymore planned like set 60398 or 60291? I have the other sets you have modded and have now made a list of the parts i need. Thanks love your content 👍
I have two sets of 60398 and have them in front of me right now as I type, with some extra bits ready to be filmed for great double MOD. When it was new I also did buy 2 copies of 60291, but I never got round to working out a good way to MOD them together, and I thought as its not a current set, that people wouldn't be interested in it anymore. But I could add it back onto my list of vids to make. Thanks for letting me know what you'd like to see.
I don't know if it has to do with the age segment, but this school bus is a definite missed opportunity with early 90's amateur MOCK-like qualities. It even lacks the prominent mirrors and warning signs so obviously present in rest of the City service vehicles the theme started.
Yes, more of a UK colour (Although the shape is quite different) I have the bus from the Capital City set, which is much more like what I see in my city: brickset.com/sets/60200-1/Capital-City
@@worldsheaviestjamband93 Cool. I've done the sandwich shop, hospital, Grocery store and Lego brand store recently. On my home page there's a section called LEGO City MODs
Thanks - I'm glad you liked it. If you like LEGO City, there are lots of other City Set MODs in this playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PL0A-CMNXDNYOBUnSw5eiG_Sh_3XM2SJ2a
@@MinifigJez oh, sure, what do you think about the small set 60375 Fire Station and Fire Engine? happy to see how you would upgrade or add some modification :)))
@@daddybricksbuilder Ooh! - I'll have a look. It's quite expensive for what you get! - I'm not sure if being a very basic 4+ set makes it an easy set to modify or a hard one !!! I'll add it to my list of video ideas!
I’ve just bought that set, so I just need to work out how I want to modify it, and the. I can make a video on it. (But it might take a few weeks, I have a lot of videos on my ‘to film’ list at the moment!)
I want you to do is like build a staircase up to the second floor so it's like you don't have to jump up like Plato any fingers up there in like make a little staircase to make them go up I think that would be pretty cool cuz how how to minifigure get up there how
Hi there, Yes it was back when I was looking for opinions of whether it was worth buying or not. It wasn't a criticism, as I really liked your vid, I was just looking for actual reviews of the set. from RU-vidrs who I watched, or who were on Brickset video reviews. As you can see I ended up buying it anyway, Thanks for replying.
I'm afraid I don't have a list of the pieces I used. The only thing that I can suggest is watch the video from 2:17 and just make a note of the parts I used. Nearly all of them are parts that are also in teh original set, so it's easy to work out what they are from the parts page in the sets instructions.
It's got a small one to the left of the building, which was in teh original set, but when it eventually goes into my own LEGO City, I'll definitely add a larger one to go next to it.
