Shout out to Omar for convincing me to NOT get the paula's choice BHA lmao. Sensory stuff I don't like is hands down the most common reason I don't keep using products and I know I'll forget to use sunscreen everyday. Surprisingly helpful to get the opinion of someone else who isn't used to skincare!

You gotta try the Paula's Choice CLEAR 2% salicylic acid leave-on in regular strength! it's just watery liquid... it's amazing. It's not as strong as the oily original grey bottle one, but so worth it anyway. It's so much nicer. DON'T get the extra strength version, because that's just the original oily grey bottle version but repackaged. Except they added another preservative... I hate having oily products on my skin. Why does no one talk about the PC regular strength CLEAR BHA in the blue bottle... a version of it has been around for the last 14 years (or at least that's the earliest reviews on the website, it probably existed before that).

I adore the LRP fluid sunscreen, recently been enjoying the Bioderma photodedm max aquafluid too. If you are from Europe a good bar soap alternative for those more acne prone is the Dr. Wolff Dermowas face cleasing bar, several dermatologists have recommended it to me and I've been using it for years now.

Let's note that twisty tops are possibly an essential skincare ingredient for men 😅 (but good points, I never thought that the ease of application, as well as a different preference of how the skin feels afterwards, might heavily influence men's tendency to use cosmetics positively or negatively) My husband uses a gel moisturizer. Got him used to niacinamide serum, just recently introduced azelaic acid for his rosacea too, which is still sitting unused in the cupboard. I love the Bioré SPF myself. Would want my husband to use it, too. Still, a long fight to go 🙄.

@@AraG05 - Hell yea. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and yea, so good. I was using The Ordinary one (not the god-forsaken anhydrous one), and it's thicker, and not like water. PC oily one would be worse though. It sinks into the skin so god damn fast. I first wet my hands and then lightly dry them and then like 5 drops into the palm and apply it. Same with my gel moisturiser. Goes on so much easier with damp hands.

You can get it on sites that resell Korean skincare brands like Yesstyle and Stylevana for around £8-12, with free shipping above $30 or something, but if you go through a lot and have any friends living in Asia it might be more cost effective to beg them to post it to you directly. I got a friend in Taiwan to send a supply for my whole family once a year, since it's like £3-4 a bottle in drugstores there.

You just know there are some partners that wouldn't have done this. Off topic, have you heard anything anything about methylene blue going through a patent application by mBLUE labs? Supposedly, if it's approved to be used as a sunscreen, it can potentially replace oxybenzone in sunscreens (maybe this is a US thing?).
@LabMuffinBeautyScience
@LabMuffinBeautyScience 3 года назад
Hmmmm it’s an interesting approach - using a substance already approved as a drug means they can get around the animal testing issues for getting safety data! But it’s blue and I’m not sure a blue cast is better than a white cast, and I don’t think the company has gone through a drug approval before, so it might take a while…

My skin is happy with fragrance, but my nose is _not._ I have to push myself to get through the Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel, because I just hate that it smells so strong! Can't wait till it's finished and I can go back to the Gel Cream. Not as light, but it never made me break out and it hasn't got a smell. And Garnier's miscellar waters are the worst! They work fine, but they're just too much for my nose. I feel like smell _shouldn't_ be a deal breaker, especially because my skin isn't very sensitive, but I just hate it!

Smell can be a deal breaker - I had to change the handcream I am using at bedtime. I love the smell od lavender, but my partner gets headaches and sneezes when I put on anything with fragrance... So it was either lavender or him... Tough choice 😀

Totally agree about Hydroboost! I also couldn’t use the Inkey List Multi-Biotic moisturizer, Selfless by Hyram’s Niacinamide and Maracuja Moisturizer or the Haru Haru Black Rice Toner for the same reason. Fragrance (even the natural fragrance of the ingredients) can be a massive dealbreaker for me. The only one I’ve stuck with is Great Barrier Relief.

If you want a micellar kinder to the nose then try Simples one. I get the blue bottle, works really well for me.

Such a cute video!! My little brother actually asked me for skincare help while I was back at home during the lockdown, so for his birthday I set him up with a basic routine. He’s stuck to it and now his acne has massively cleared up he’s feeling a lot more confident about his skin. It made me so happy, thanks to Labmuffin and Doctorly for giving me the knowledge to be able to help him out 🥰

my partner doesn't use something special for the face but lately the "body cleansers" we have are mostly facial ones that didnt make the cut for me and I do see improvement! baby steps

My husband still uses shower gel for his face - 8 years and I haven‘t been able to change that. My aura is suffering!

Omar should do more videos with you. You are very cute and fun together. Omar has a different sight on some things, wich can be helpful when it comes to practicability. Like the backpack safety for sunscreens. My hubby has now a new hobby(haha)- skincare. He never really cared much, but since his hyperpigmentation got worse he wanted me to show him some products. And since our beloved male ones are often very vainly human beings, his bathroom time is now almost double the time as mine😂

So many of my family members have horrifying routines, my aunt just uses shampoo runoff from her hair on her face and she uses a exfoliating glove on her face several times a week, my dad just uses 3 in 1 everywhere, it truly gives me chills.

Omg--Omar's 'routine' is just like my husband's! He complains about his skin issues (dryness, breakouts, premature aging) and I've tried to help him with those, but if it requires more than 2 or 3 products he's not interested. I can't even get the man to wear sunscreen; he's one of those guys that won't wear it unless he plans on "being out in the sun all day."

My partner had such clear, smooth, beautiful skin when we met 6 years ago, despite having no routine. He'd literally just use a bar of soap under his arms and "down below" when he showered, and would wash his hair like once a month. I tried to teach him some basics to maintain his good skin (cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen when outdoors), but he never really did any of it. Now he's approaching 30 and says that he wants to take better care of his skin, because it isn't looking so great anymore, yet still doesn't listen when I try to teach him things 🙄

With my husband, the first step was getting him to use sunscreen when we go out. Since he really doesn't care about antiaging, I told him about skin cancer prevention. And it really worked: he has gotten super diligent about it. I just feel sorry that the drugstore sunscreen he likes gets attached to his beard and looks 'dandruffy', lol. On the arms, we both use a sunscreen spray, which makes it all easier. Now, I'm convincing him to use a simple Cerave facial cleanser at night (to get some niacinamide in there to help with his acne, and remove all the sunscreen)... since he totally ignored the Paula's choice bha toner as well, lol (rookie mistake). But I must say that he's always had a habit of using moisturizer on his face and body after the shower, which I find impressive. All I did was switch the old Nivea can with a Cerave moisturizer and he enjoys it just fine. Baby steps.

Omg just like my BF. How they market a gazillion in one products to men specifically is horrible lol. Made the mistake of trying to do everything at once, now I’m just focusing on him using cleansers with actives and Eucerin face and body Moisturizers with SPF.
