I'm so happy that I have my favorite garden tool back!
Here's the how-to video I referred to: • How to Change a Garden...
How to clean and sharpen your tools: • How to Get Your Garden...
My favorite tool: bit.ly/dixters...
(If sold out there, try here: bit.ly/dixterg...)
I got the replacement handle from Garden Tool Company, where I originally ordered the spade from.
My name is Erin and I love sharing inspiration and information with real-life gardeners. I live and garden in southeastern Wisconsin, zone 5b.

I have to admit, I couldn't wait to see 'THE' footage again, because it was just so funny I couldn't stop laughing at the first time 🤭😄 I felt sorry for the tool and for you though! Happy to see it is healthy again 😊 Greetings, Judit 🙋

What a good belly laugh, the expletive bleep was so funny because I can totally relate. This is a great video, I didn't know how to change handles that are attached with the hammered end. Thank you

"the expletive bleep was so funny because I can totally relate." SAME HERE! That's why I love watching MANY different garden channels because each creator is unique and I love them all for their different quirks and I thought "See, this is why I love Erin!" And I love Laura for other reasons but you'll never hear that on Garden Answer! Laura would say "Oh Rats" or "Doggone it" And I love both but in this circumstance, I relate more to Erin "Oh beeeeeep" LOL

Same!!!! Makes me feel a lot better that my gardening exploits aren’t all sunshine and slow-motion daydreams - but often fraught with lessons learned, mud and expletives. But I love it all.

This is so what we all do...swear when the favorite tool breaks, fixing the new handle...plan A switch to plan, then it's fixed. Yes, I hammer like you. Thanks for all you do. Plus you made me laugh.

I remember the incident vividly! I have a very similar tool & it is my garden workhorse. I actually started treating mine a *bit* more carefully after seeing yours snap. I’m guilty to using it as a lever for those stubborn roots & clay! Good to know it can be repaired!

Wonderful to see you taking care of your tools. I'm over 70, which meant that in public schools boys were required to take shop while girls took home economics. In retrospect, the stereotyping was awful, but we were too brainwashed to question it. Now I think all of us, regardless of gender, could have used some skills training.

GREAT JOB Erin!!! I have a snow shovel and a round pointed shovel both with fiberglass handles that snapped. I ended up tossing both, I consider myself very creative and able to fix anything, but not worth my time struggling with fiberglass cheap cheap handles. The WOOD ones on the other hand are worth saving.

I think I’ve proving that point. Actually it was worse than that, I was digging but got hooked under a root and instead of stopping and thinking about what was happening I just kept going. We cover how stupid that was in the original video when I broke it last year.
