Hey Gang! I hope seeing my thought process while time restricted was helpful! The takeaway really should be: Idea is everything. How can you make a simple, relatable, but most importantly interesting thumbnail for your viewers? If I had more time or was doing this for my own channel, I'd likely have spent about 2-3 hours on each thumbnail but figured this was a better format. Have a great day! 🕘Timestamps: 0:00 What Stops New RU-vidrs Getting Views 0:36 Fixing My Viewers Battle Royal RU-vid Thumbnail 1:39 How To Make An Unknown Niche Topic Clickable For Views 4:00 Final Results For Thumbnail One 4:42 Fixing My Viewers Podcast RU-vid Thumbnail 5:55 Why You Should NEVER Include Episode Numbers In Thumbnails 6:30 How To Simplify Your Thumbnails To Get Views 8:23 Final Results For Thumbnail Two 9:05 Why Your Ideas Are Holding You Back 10:13 Fixing My Viewers Pokemon RU-vid Thumbnail 10:30 How To Make An Idea That's Been Done Before Clickable 12:35 Final Results For Thumbnail Three 13:14 Fixing My Viewers Speedrunning RU-vid Thumbnail 13:34 How To Steal Thumbnail Ideas To Grow 14:47 Fixing My Viewers RU-vid Shorts Thumbnail 15:24 Why Overcomplicated Your Thumbnails Is Awful 15:57 How To Tell A Story With A RU-vid Thumbnail
The quality of content you produce is next level Eljay and it has massively helped my content change and grow, not to mention the free overlays! Thanks as always mate!
11:25 Sorry for making you rage quit the Thumb 8 times xD. But tbh I've done the exact same with this thumb. Definitely got some good ideas from all of these fixes!
Love all of your educational work. They always remind me to keep working on my work even when I think they're finished. I'll be crafting titles and thumbnail concepts from now on because of this. Thank you Eljay
"Now I'm really struggling to draw the viewer's eye to the mouse inside the butt"... not something you hear every day, eh? Solid explanation of the thought process and some great take-away tips to remember! o7
Sorry if I missed it in the video, but what are you using to cut out your images. so you find an image of chimchar online, then its cut out perfect in the editor. Is this a program, or are you trimming them manually?
yea I already did, and tbh I didn't know it was a condenser mic which is extremely bad for my condition rn. but I decided to go with the razer v2 pro or the samson you recommended, I still have time tho so I will decide later@@StreamScheme
I was watching all your videos about Twitch and I was having trouble choosing what to highlight on twitch. I'm not sure where to start. I stream 3 times a week 4hours each time and it would be super difficult to actually watch the entire VOD. Do you end up just skimming through it or do you have a way to flag what you care about while streaming?
Hey! Thank you for this crash course on Thumbnails. I was just starting again to "create" content and looking back at what i made... it is terrbile. Thank you very much for the advise. Btw: isnt 17 min a bit long for a sales pitch on your shorts video? ;)
Do you have any tips or maybe a video coming up sooner or later about thumbnails for livestreams? I've noticed when I put some effort into the thumbnail for my livestreams I get some clicks but I'm not sure if the game tips apply or if there are some different strategies to get peoples attention.
Correct me if im wrong or its that i work different but isnt this teaching others the bad way to clickbait? I get attracting viewers and clicks but lets take the podcast example, if im attracted to the edited thumbnail and listen to the podcast, im going to feel like i wasted my time when there isnt this crazy story on how a rat was found on a patient or them etc etc when the thumbnail kind of gave me that expectation. This style of making thumbnail are for the big channels that make hella clickbaity thumbnails but ultinately doesnt matter because their sub count and overall channel size will do all of the pulling....but for smaller creators its an easy way of shriking your audience when they know youre all clickbait and 0 entertainment and content
Clickbait is only bad if you don’t deliver. If they actually tell stories that match the package it isn’t bad. My example is only an example, I’m never saying to lie about the content, just that you need to find the actual valuable interesting part and put that front and centre. The issue, as I explain in the video, is almost none of the videos in this have actual reasons to click, I’m having to invent them for the purpose of making the video clickable. But again, I don’t think I ever say to lie or mislead, just to actually focus on the contents actual value and reason to click.
