My whole life has been like this… it’s been absolutely heartbreaking. When other women all get together for a picture. I go hide so I can avoid being in a picture. 💔 it’s actually caused many problems and self esteem issues my entire life. God bless you for the work you do. This is actually so so sad and i totally feel you because i do the exact same. It really really affects my confidence when everyone is sitting and smiling and laughing freely and then there's me just sitting there like-- i really wish my teeth were like others. The ones that show. Or i wish i had some other problem like crooked teeth or something. So i could get it fixed you know. My teeth don't show at all when i smile or talk it makes me look like im toothless and i'm 22. :( i feel like no one would ever love me because of my smile. I'm in constant anxiety because of it.
I have the exact same issue. I am 36 years old male. It's safe to say I haven't really smiled all my life. 2 months ago,I could afford to see a dentist and he recommended braces to start with. It's only been two months but I've started to feel better and more confident as I can actually see the teeth being more visible. It's the best feeling ever.
most of the time like here its not the problem the teeth. the problem is your bone structure, more precisely said your alveolar bone is to short. dentists will never tell you this as they will always try to make something with what they have to offer like veneers. but if you wanna do it correctly you need to go to a oral surgeon and he will do a maxillo facial where they cut of the upper tooth holding bone and bring it down so when you smile you see all of your teeth with the triangles of your gums between your teeth.
I think that kind of smile is really cute. Don’t change it unless you have far more than enough money to and are actually affected by teeth being that way. But it’s all up to you.
my bottom teeth show, but my top teeth are always covered up by my top lip when i smile. my teeth are perfect i had braces and everything but they just don’t even show. which is confidence destroying because i look so weird when i try to smile

My upper set of teeth barely shown when i smile. I have overbite and had braces for 2 years but it improved very little. My teeth are in standard size I'd say . So i think probably a upper lip lift procedure is better option for me and also cheaper. I'm in NYC and here it cost around $4-6K.

Whenever there is a picture taking session people will always tell me to smile more but little do they know I'm already trying to smile a lot that it strains my cheeks. It still looks like I'm not smiling at all. I have the same chin as the woman in the video.
Beautiful. im happy for her. I too do not show teeth. My smile looks akward and fake when i try, I also have a narrow and low smile, my cheecks are heavy they only allow me to do a little smile that doesnt show any teeth. If I try all my face distort, and my nose goes downwards and wider. I think tere is no hope for me
Hi Ruthnie, sorry to hear about your issues! If you are considering cosmetic treatment make sure you look into cosmetic focused and more specialised practices/dentists. Avoid general dental clinics, going to a more specialised practice will mean they deal with cosmetic cases more frequently and will have also had more detailed and focused training on cosmetic dentistry. They should be better suited to helping you. Hope this helps :-)
I actually have almost the same teeth like that lady who got veneers... you barely see my teeth when I smile.. That's one of my biggest issues.. I would loved to fix them, but I don't have the money for it.. it is one of my biggest dreams to have perfect bigger teeth.
Same here , I’ve been made fun of all my life. My teeth don’t show at all when I smile or when speaking. As a result I don’t like interacting with people and I hate public speaking.

Hi I’m 16 I have braces currently, and I noticed that I have yet to show a lot of teeth when I speak or talk .. I noticed that even simply opening my mouth, not a lot of teeth show, will braces fix this issue? I also have small teeth :(
Hi Mariah, how far through your braces are you? Sadly it can take a long time to get the results you want! Stick with it, we are sure your orthodontist is doing a great job, you cant judge the results until you have finished treatment :-)

pls ask your orthodontist as this varies from case-to-case. Braces can exclude teeth down but if the issue is related more to the upper jaw related to lip position than this is harder. Its important to ask earlier as this may change the treatment
It depends on the treatment required and which option you go with. In this case we use minimal preparation and ultra thin porcelain veneers for ideal cosmetics and longevity. The cost are high and should be discussed with your cosmetic dentist

There are always options for treatment. So may be very simple and others (jaw surgery with braces) may be more difficult and complex. I would suggest to get some opinions for a dentist and an orthodontist. They will be able to give you several option and the pros & cons of each. Hope this helps. X

You are young and still growing so you have more options. I suggest a consultation with a specialist orthodoontist. Dental cosmetics - porcelain - at your age is not recommended if there is another way to correct this problems.

You need too discuss this with your dentist/orthodontist. How long have they been on? get old and current photos and compare the changes. Modification of the force on the teeth via the braces can correct this.
Advanced Dental Artistry Hi I am 15 and have the same problem, you can only see like half of my top row of teeth when i smile. I currently have braces, I’ve had them for like 4 or 5 months and I am getting them off around the beginning of next year or so I believe, I really don’t think the braces are going to obviously extend my teeth, however do you think they might bring them down? is that possible? If not then will I need veneers and do they allow veneers at my age?

So there’s my two front teeth and the the tooth next to them and then after that when I smile my teeth are no longer visible, I’m really self conscious about it as the left side is my good side but my smile ruins it even though I have nice straight teeth.

My teeth don’t show at all when I smile or talk because they are positioned so far back in my mouth that my lips cast a shadow over them and to exasperate the issue my mouth is small. My bite is perfect. I’ve spent thousands on braces and veneers on my top 4 teeth and it made virtually no difference and I can’t find a single dentist or surgeon that will help me. I just want to smile.
