Wow, great score! A Smokin' Joes in that condition is pretty hard to find. I had a 1997 CBR600F3, good bikes, just need to keep an eye out for the fuel pumps, they like to eat them for some reason. I think it the 4 years that I had it, I replaced 3 pumps. Other then that, solid bike. Few observations with yours, hard to tell, but it looks like the base basket is leaking or maybe someone was inside it? Or just dirt? Couldn't really tell. Also, when you get a chance, get the carbs synced, it'll make a pretty big difference with throttle response and off idle performance. The tail plastics are kind of fragile, be careful getting on and off and nice worth with replacing that fuel filter, go out of your way and try and find non-ethanol gas, it'll help a LOT! The other bike you had trouble with trying to get started and stay running could be a valve issue, timing issue, or rfi. But great seeing you starting to post again!
I had a couple cbr600’s. They are very reliable and easy to work on. He stole that thing! Besides normal maintenance items, the cam chain tensioner is notorious to go bad. Would highly recommend buying a manual tensioner when it starts to go ✅

U can get them like 44 thousand miles so high milage sorta for about that price but running woth good service history?? Here in uk if it a 600 all day 1000 bit mpre 1300 max for higher miles and age i find dirt bikes go for pennies over in merica
