Al you need a pole barn for all the attachments for the tractors and shelter for your Bobcat mini excavator, to keep them out the weather. Would make things easier for you over the winter. As you get more equipment for your farm, it is going to become more necessary.
I used to be envious of all your rainfall, as I live in Roswell, NM. We're in the high desert. We had only had 5" of rain this year (which was actually pretty decent). This past Saturday, we had a 123yr flood. We got between 6.5" to 10.5" of rain in 4 hours (depending on what part of Roswell you were in). We lost 2 lives and first responders had to rescue 308 people from roofs, attics, washed away cars, and trees. Pets were having to be rescued from the raging water. It washed away homes, destroyed our museum, a dealership full of cars. Our streets had 5ft of water rushing by. It will take years to recover. I still can't believe this has happened. I felt like we got a taste of what NC got during Hurricane Helene.
Al, absolutely enjoying the coffee! I ordered 2 pouches of the cold brew and got mine going when it was delivered. I offered some to my husband & he loved it. So I set my husband up with a cold brewer for work. Well he took his brewer and coffee to work and absolutely loves having it! It is not the first time I’ve ordered from you and Gina and it won’t be the last. It is great that the folks affected by Helena will be helped by the contribution. Thank you both for doing that, I’m sure they will appreciate the help. Continued prayers for all impacted by both hurricane Helena and Milton, also for all the responders providing assistance during this difficult time. ❤️🇺🇸❤️🙏
Good morning Al and Gina, have a nice day. Frost here as well in Indiana. Very kind of you to donate. I so agree with Zinnias then when they die back cut the flower head off and you will have all the seeds you need for the next season.
Good morning, Lumnah family! That's awesome sending donations. I've been helping Hugs from Texas making quilts to send. They have already made 1 trip and planning a 2nd in November to take over 200 quillts.
The grading is coming along nicely...so sorry the track came off again. I can't imagine how difficult it is to put one back on. Y'all have a Blessed day. See you tomorrow for the podcast. Lumnah Acres subs, if you haven't joined the podcast on Fridays, you are missing out. Watch tomorrow, and I'll bet you will be hooked.
Good morning from across the border here in central Maine and enjoying my In the Woods dark roast while watching you this brisk morning as well. TY for donating to the relief efforts as they were truly devasted by this all. Have a great day.
We got our first frost likely on the same day as you (Oct 15th). As a crow flies we're probably only about 50 miles or so from you so makes sense. Hope you guys have a blessed and wonderful day!
Reverend Billy Graham's home was in Black Mountain which was really hit hard. His son and family started Samaritans Purse and it's headquarter in the NC mountain town of Blowing Rock. They have the least overhead of any charity we give to. First to respond in many areas and they are still the one that people continue to see taking action. Thank you for thinking of them and us in this time of need. We will be headed back to the mountains this weekend. Take care.. stay safe..we had frost last week and now we have 80 degree weather go figure...
Good morning. Today is October 24 we have frost covered car windows for the first-time. I am really enjoying watching the two of you share this video of your own projects ❤ Gina I planted the exta hardy German garlic plus five more.
Those zinnia seed would be a fun activity for Olivia and you to do. Those seeds will grow even better next year. Just cut off the flower tops and lay them somewhere to dry more for to weeks .
Your successes and failures at the secret garden sound pretty much like what I can and cannot grow here in SE Alaska. The difference is I always put my tomatoes in my small hothouse next to my back porch next to my kitchen. I would never trust our cool, wet climate to produce tomatoes. However, I did really well this year with my crop.. The best part was the tomato plants that I started from the seeds of some tomato-on-the-vine from the grocery store did so well, that I was able to trade over half of the plants for some venison. Gardeners learn to just plant then go with the flow. There is no controlling the weather so we grow what grows and don't worry about what doesn't. At Thanksgiving, my prayer of thanks is always for neighbors and grocery stores, because I could never survive on what I can grow alone. The flowers that I love to grow that give me joy all winter (I put them in the hothouse before the first frost) are Snapdragons. Beautiful flowers and lovely smell. I can look out my dining area window right into the hothouse (which is against the house) and enjoy them all winter. Another flower I keep in there during the winter are my geraniums. Some of these I have had for five years or longer now. They bloom most of the winter in that room. When you live in the North with long winters, this is a real big plus. I also keep my Mediterranean herbs (oregano, thyme, parsley, rosemary, sage) in there. I had one rosemary that was 5 years old before the aphids got it one year before I realized they were on it. Now I am a bit more attentive to that possibility.
MY FAVORITE NH OFF GRID RU-vid FAMILY!!! Gooood Morrrrrrrning Lumnahs AL GINA OLIVIA and subscriber friends and family! Good morning CC!🌄😊 Oh my! glad you made it through the operation alright! Take care of yourself. Have a blessed day and the rest of the week too! God bless🥰
No frost in Tucson yet. It was high 50’s last week but back in the 90’s this week. It does snow here though (every other year) and it’s melted by 3:00 the next day.
Gooooood morning Lumnah family! Gorgeous frosty sunrise! We have not dipped down to the 20's to get a hard frost like yours. We have gotten to 32 degrees. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!🥰 Jn 3:16❤
Good morning Gina happy Thursday, good to see you and Al. Did you just use leaves as natural mulch? I was happy to see you did that. I have used leaves in my flower pots.
Hey guys, just an idea…consider cutting up that broken excavator track, signing the pieces and selling! Andrew Camarata did that a few years ago. Then donate the proceeds to hurricane relief fund 😀. Cheers, Steve!
Great Day in the Morning 🌄 🙌 😊 ☺️ !!! Question how long does it take to go throw a bag of wood palets in yall new work shop heater ??? Have a Joyfull Day !!! 😊😊😊
Good Afternoon Lumnah Family from the Netherlands . no frost here yet and sunny with 14 degrees Celsius (57.2 F) . thanks for the video Al and Gina . Kind regards, Hollandduck
The first cold morning is when we northerners find out our batteries aren't up to the job any more. If you jump it all winter it will likely be fine for one more spring and summer. Small issue with land contouring, barn build is still fine!
Morning everyone! Our gardens did great this year. I planted 12 Roma tomato plants and we have enough for tomatoes sauce for the winter, two types of potatoes - did really good, onions, carrots, beets, - all did very well. The cucumbers not so much - I ordered English and I didn't know what came up. The beefsteak tomatoes almost took over our gardens and the squash started running out into the yard and couldn't cut the grass!! Flower gardens did fantastic. Hope everyone has a great day!!
Good morning Ted!🌄😊 Have a great day too! that's awesome your garden well! our squash gave us good suprises and did well too. Planted what I thought were one kind of seed I saved and got a wonderful hybrid of two different ones from two years ago. Ended up with a tasty 25-30 pound squash that taste like an acorn squash. Was a cross of N. Carolina Candy Roaster and N. Georgia Candy Roaster.
I was stateside for 3 months but I am now back in Albania. I live in the southern part of the country and it never freezes. Northern Albania certainly has colder weather than where I live.
Thank you, Gina and Al! I have been a recipient of Samaritans purse, the workers were truly amazing. Samaritans Purse is the best place for Christians to donate. thank you very much. I was deeply touched by their service, love and compassion!!!
It would be interesting to see the process of the coffee journey. It doesn’t really matter if it’s out of time sync. You could do it as a separate video.val from south Wales UK
Good morning!🌄😊 We are in smallish town of 8,000 and have a coffee bean shop here too. The whole downtown smells like a wonderful cup of coffee when his roaster is going.
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all the Lumnah friends and extended family. We have been getting frost for a while now, the problem is we haven't had rain for about twenty=five days.
Good morning Robert!🌄😊We've had the same weather here, powder dry for about 6-8 weeks now. The giant maples in our front yard are dropping their leave fast and furious. Sad to see the color of fall go.
Good morning, Robert - Same for us - the lawn in front of our apartment building is brown. We could really use some rain here... time for a rain dance!
Hey live watching you and Gina as you develop your home stead. Great job, suggestion for you to consider, you have a lot of rocks on your property, a water feature with a water fall and pond or small lake, would be beautiful in the pasture in front of your house. The wild life would enjoy also. Just a thought. Great job love watching you guys. I watch all you videos.
Good morning, y'all. That's a bummer about that track coming off the mini x again. 😞 I'm glad you decided to go with Samaritan's Purse (Boone, NC) for your coffee proceeds donations. 🙂 They do incredible disaster relief worldwide and are a very reputable organization. I do have a question regarding future projects. Will you be assembling the walk-in cooler in the near future before you harvest your pig(s)? Also, maybe another smallish project could be to build a tractor Implements Shed? I don't know if something like that is even necessary, but it's a thought. Are you going to be installing ice/snow breaks on the barn and addition roofs or installing gutters to divert the water into the ditch so it doesn't eat away at the front edge of the concrete pad? Anyhow, I love you both and anxiously await every video y'all create as I learn so much. Brutus is getting so big! Gotta love him.
Idea for you. Instead of allowing all the water from up above to run into your ditch, dig a small trench diagonally across the bank above, running towards your cow pasture, then do one of your "signature" rock walls, back fill it some, so that at least half of the runoff doesn't make it to your deep ditch. It would look good (much like the old timers did) and Ms Gina, well, she does love her rock walls!
G’day 😊 oooo Mr Jack Frost has shown up finally 👍 not long now to see a winter wonderland! Having a giggle at the start of the video as it looked like Al was eating the sun lol😂 amazing how autumn leaves are useful for making mulch 👌
Good morning everyone. I stopped drinking hot coffee and stopped having acid reflux. My son did the same and stopped him reflux also. I still have as much coffee as be just now cold. West Virginia
Good morning Al & Gina (Lumnah Acres) from Windsor 🇨🇦 ☕️ 🤔 past the poles work eh lol sounds like another great project to me..have a great day and keep up the great work on the homestead ..ok next is Hollard Farms then Sow the Land.. then to crossing guard duty 😎 top of the morning channel fans 👍🇨🇦
Good morning! I really enjoy watching the two of you (and the animals) Every time I watch you use the excavator I look at the teeth, if it is not to late you should replace them before you have a major bucket problem. Thank you for all you do.
Well goooood morning to a cold morning at Lumnah acres ,hope my friends Al,Gina and Olivia are doing well. From a Cajun friend from Louisiana and no we have not had our first frost yet. We have been in the 50s and 80s in the afternoon . Have a blessed and safe day. How's my friend Brutus the supervisor?
Good morning Al, Gina and Miss Olivia. Oh boy not the track again. Least you didn't have to buy another track. Thank God!❤ Gina glad you got the kind of gains you wanted.😊 Brutus went up with you to protect you. How sweet.❤😊
It would be extra work but maybe more permanent to line the ditch bank w/your flat rocks to control erosion. It would be good protection for the barn extension.
Al, you have property that is riddled with large rocks. Instead of playing in the mud every year, use those rocks to support that banking and prevent the dirt from washing down to the gravel. You've seeded that bank three years in a row now!
Actually the best rock free dirt availability' is what washes into that stream-bed, I'd be collecting and shifting to make a stockpile for filling holes !
Your a week behind as you said, so prepare for a week of heat wave coming your way. 70-80° beautiful Indian summer here in NH. Are you sure you don't want to replace the digger battery now???. Don't forget to replace diesel fuel filters now. Change motor oils to winter grade. 👍💚🎃
Hi Al & Gina & Olivia too, I know she's in there somewhere, lol! Al, have you considered parking the tractors in particular in the workshop over the winters for super easy startups, normal cold start oils, etc. Sub-Zero start ups are tough on ALL equip., gas or diesel...you've got a large garage, the mowers, tractors, splitters, excavator(?), etc...🇺🇸 🇺🇲 Best, Bill...
