Fixing up a $1000 Honda Recon Part 1 

I have an 01 and an 06 and these machines are excellent! I'm 6 ft 2 and 240 lb and mine haul me up and down these mountains:-) they have been for years .. awesome Fun :-)

In my opinion, this is the best quad ever made. As long as you change the oil, they will last 20-30 years or more. You can easily sell this for $1500 today or a year from now.

Guys I have said this to everyone I know, the 250 recon is the best 1 person atv out there, specially if they was 4x4 . I live in WV and we have hills and mountains and they will haul just fine on rides. They may not pull other atvs well or haul a lot of luggage/tools/cooler but they are great single person bikes for the trails. I’ve rode mine since I was 12 and I still have it today and it runs fine and I’m 33 and we bought it in 2003 it was a 2000 model. just in case you think I don’t know much about what I’m talking about, I’m a licensed can-am mechanic and I’ve got racing/utility bikes alike from 700r raptor/ 250 recon/ 350 warrior/ and had loads more and rode since I was able to walk.. my life has always revolved around riding atv’s/ dirtbikes.

My mom bought one brand new back in 01. I just got it from her today. It's mostly in good condition, but it's faded to hot pink from the original red, and I think needs a gas line or something. Gonna paint it, and get it back to running, and go ride out in the mountains a few miles from my house. Should be a fun project.

Identical to mine that I have a few videos of where I do some minor work on it. I got my 2002 Honda Recon new in 2002 when my Honda Fourtrax 200 was stolen. It's still going strong 19 years later and does everything I need it to do. I got it in west GA and use it in both GA and AL every year. I just took it to one of my hunting tracts where I drove from there to a WMA and back for an eleven mile trip just to check it out after some standard maintenance. I think you got a good deal for a project and a good tool.

Only paid $100.00 for the atv and paid $1400.00 for a full rebuild. Cannot wait to take my little girl for her first ride on ours
