This video is one of (hopefully) many that showcase my infinite love for tinkering on anything mechanical. I will get better at filming and descriptive words in the future, because I noticed some mistakes during editing. I hope you enjoy the video :)
With this video I aimed to get my favorite mower back up and running by taking it apart, replacing what was broken, and put it back together without the Internet or a manual. This is a model 5024 (1975-1977) Lawn Boy "brick" mower that I used to mow lawns a few years ago.
While waiting for parts to come in, I was able to tear it down. When the parts came in, I replaced what was broken and put it back together. I excitedly went to pull the cord, but the engine would not budge and it was not making spark. After some research, I was able to find what I did wrong.
I tore it back apart and attempted to film everything I did wrong, but correctly this time. I edited all of the film into a video that kind of follows a time-line. I was unable to show me cleaning the carbon build-up behind the piston rings, but I was able to show how to get spark.
The final shot is from the night I put the finishing touches on the mower. It only ran for a little bit, but I promise it mowed the lawn the next day.
