Finally found a tutorial ! My windshield looks exactly like that and the car dealerships are charging me an arm and a leg to fix it ! Thanks :) UPDATE : It worked :)
Now my turn to go through the process 🤦🏻♂️ but thanks for the video it’s gonna save me some money to. And I need to fix something for the first time in my life too 😂
WAY easier: Buy JB weld glass, remove metal back piece from mirror, glue piece on windshield, then slide mirror on after a few hrs. We didn't need anything to hold metal piece but would've used duct tape but our glue was thickening after 3-4 minutes so we didn't need tape.
Actually, it got over 100 degrees here in MO and finally fell :/ I notice my Honda Accord gets unusually hotter than other vehicles as well, so could've hit 120 inside. I am redoing it again now, same way My car is little different than just using the yellow-typical mirror glue because I have to fill the hole as well
Thank you this helped a lot. They wanted me to replace my whole windshield and I was wondering if I could put the mirror next to the original mounting area but knew it would look like crap and don’t know if it’s legal.
The hold is really good actually :) You kind of have to work it/move it some while it dries. When you apply the metal with glue it softens the glue a little again, but it is a really quick dry...
Wish you showed filling it in. I'm a little sketched out to try it and idk if I should just leave it because the glass still fits in there snug or not.
It was hard at the time b/c I was the cameraman and filler 😆 all I used was little pieces of the cardboard box the glue came in to put it in & the plastic part as the trough for glue have other pieces of cardboard ready b/c we know how sticky glue is. It runs some so you kinda push it back gently until initial hardening happens I kind of had to hold it w/ the initial hardening when attaching the mirror - but it worked well :)
Hi dear i m ording gorilla glue today coz got same problem in my car,but i want to ask i qstn to u,ive the piece of glass attached in mirror mount which came out from windshield , i glue the piece together or just fill the gap only with glue 1st, n after i do it i have to glue it again with same glue in mirror mount is it??
@@JoshuaAugust so I used super glue after my mirror fell off and when it fell again it created the chunk in the glass. Do you think this will hold up if you have subwoofers in the car?
@@JoshuaAugust so what did u use to apply it inside the hole? just brushed it in thick and then cover with carboard untill it set? sorry for so many questions lol thanks for yhe reply
I didn't sand b/c I was putting a plate over, so no one would see... if you brush it right, you won't have to sand it maybe, mine was nice and smooth :)
I have same problem. I have been advised against filling epoxy in chip to avoid any cracks. 2016 make car. Did you see cracks or any other problems with this fix ?
@@JoshuaAugust yeah im gonna car brush paint and paint that area with white color..then fill it up with clear epoxy..I think white is better than black since it reflects sunlight rather then absorb it
