An in depth review of the Fjallraven G1000 gaiters by Wildcraft Britain's Andy. Used in bonny Scotland in his September trip. As the name suggests, they are made from the Fjallraven G1000 material a hard wearing Polyester/Cotton blend that is waxed with Greenland wax.
Just had it confirmed, this gaiter is now discontinued. We will wait and see if it is to be replaced by another. Real shame, as it's a great gaiter, (glad I got a pair now). Trailblazer is in discussion with Fjallraven to see if we can get some made, as it's such a great product! (But we aren't holding out breaths).

Well, although we have been told that there would be no more gaiters, we had some shipped to us recently and no have a small stock! Our rep could not explain why, however, he did say Fjallraven are going to produce a new G1000 gaiter with the new G1000 Tough been used in high ware areas. Sounds top tbh ;D

thanks for the great gater explanation, i know understand the up and downside of the whole thing ... i own some cheap gaiters that only lastet me one winter they mainly serve me to not get any snom into my boot since i wallk cross snowy areas with my dog in the winter maybe these fjällraven ones will last on me longer

I hear the elastic areas wear out after 2 years, not good for such expensive trousers. How yours are doing? Thanks for the review.

Very interesting. I have been looking for a breathable gaiter for years, have not found one yet (I live in Canada). I checked Fjallraven's English language website and the model you show is not listed. They have a G-1000 mid-calf model with no strap, and a knee high "trekking" model with strap but they say is a PU coated polyester. Do you have a prototype, or has Fjallraven not yet updated their website?

Hi, Sorry for the late reply, I have been trying to get to the bottom of it. It would appear that the G1000 gaiter on the Fajllraven page are different from the ones I am using, but they are stock gaiters. I have contacted the company, and they are looking into it, but no answer yet. I suspect that they have not updated the page, but I will let you know if I find out more. We ship to Canada, but at time of writing we are out of stock. Enjoy your outdoors time :D

Yeah, well. They have had a lot of hammer now. However, I have put a small hole in the right instep above the buckle, not sure how, (but they have seem much action in the sharp rock of Scotland). However, this model is no longer available & the re-design for Autumn 2014 has G1000 tough patch here. They remain the best I have owned for comfort and functionality!

Hi im interested in these gaiters but im not sure exactly which size (M or L) i need. do you have any information on the sizing? the Fjallraven site hasn't really helped.

Hi, Just got the final word from Fajllraven- the gaitor in the video is the new G1000 gaitor and the one on the site is the old one and their site needs updating! Got there in the end... ;D

Just a quick update. It looks like Fjallraven are going to discontinue this gaiter. They are unavailable at the moment and I will have more info next month when I meet with the rep.

How noisy are they? Do they swish much?

+Johnny Spathas For gaiters they are very quiet. They stay on place very well and are a constant companion, (to the point were they need some stitching repair doing). Excellent for stalking, (except for the reflective strip). However, they pulled this product some time ago- not sure if they have replaced it.

Hi, sorry to report, but these gaiters are no longer available. They have a new version coming out this year, but I have not seen them to try. I am 6 foot tall with average leg length for that size, and take a large. Hope this helps, Andy
