I'll make it my mission, especially as you're a Renault fan ;) I've driven one once before for half an hour on a damp road here in the UK, and even today I still remember that as the most enjoyable drive I've ever had. Amazing car! Will see what I can do. SW

It's perfect, even as a daily car it's really nice! I try to keep the second gear safe.. But even in 3/4/5/6 it still asks to press the pedal. And no ones talks about the exhaust sounds, they are not "crazy" at first, but once you start to hear it everyday, you get in love with it :D Oh and maybe it's not what people look at first, but the 6.5l/100km (43mpg) is appreciated nowadays (even more in france right now with our fuel problems :D) !

Glad you're enjoying it, not suprised at all. Even in sixth gear it's really rapid... I love the sound it makes from the outside - sounds like a jet! I got 45mpg on a journey once - try and beat me! :) Actually don't do that, just enjoy it!

Interior of current Fords are confusing. Haven't driven the RS yet either, but they will drive very differently. RS may well be the more comfortable car to live with every day, but I'm not sure it would be as exciting to drive. SW

Paule Paule I can say I grew up to having honda an had several I love Honda an i can say I have test drove the RS it's a a bad ass car an so is the golf r but I am waiting on the type r before I make my choice

Very true. It would benefit with AWD in the wet (i.e. the UK 99% of the time) but in the dry it's a beast. Put the Golf or RS on the same stretch in the dry and the Type R would monster them both.

newmotoring On a rolling start yes, it's lighter than both those cars, but they have the advantage on launch at the lights, the focus RS 0-60 is 4.8 vs type R 5.8 secsand the type Rs times vary with condition, in the wet it could be as slow as 7 secs

***** I am, and that's where the Type R fails. 300 bhp in fwd isn't good, i'd rather have 220bhp and a lighter chassis for fwd.

***** I get in a type r every week, it gets destroyed by AWD Audi's , Subaru's,and Golfs every time. Face it FWD cannot compete, it's slow dude, the car used at the ring was much faster, and it no longer holds the ring record, A FWD golf with 270bhp just beat the R at Nord, that's embarrassing. In the space of 6 months it's become dated. Next Civic will be AWD. My mates have 500-600bhp with AWD, FWD fails at over 200bhp. Btw i drive an Corrado VR6 turbo, it puts out 370bhp, and will piss on any new Civic.

Hondas are quite expensive anyway, but it's at that price because that's where the competitors are and they have to make some of their money back. Trust me, mechanically it feels like more than a £30k car. The performance is incredible. And thank you! SW

The cost is mainly due to the devaluation of GBP by the Bank of England. Everything imported now costs 1/3 more.

+Martin Allen That makes sense. I suspect Honda will try to place the Type R around the price mark as the Golf R and Focus RS which is around 36k usd. I'd venture to say if they started with a slightly lower msrp to undercut the competition we could see a surge in this particular vehicle segment. The reason for my devaluation of the Type R is that you can take a standard Si, drop 10k on a turbo (400+ hp) plus suspension setup and best any Type R for thousands less. Albeit without the badging and pedigree.
