@AGR01 harmor is really good! Especially if you like bass and dubstep! Unless im getting it confused with something else, You can also do image synthesis (generating sound from an image)
What I love so much about Sytrus is the way you can use the sliders to shape the waveform to half a saw or half a square if you want to. Can't express how much love I have for it.
@@mechwarreir2 Exactly what I was thinking. Also? People talk about Sytrus like its well user friendly, not clunky, hard to navigate, messy interface. Well behind the times when compared to most synths people actually use.
Sytrus is still the best FM synth after all these years. I just wish FL would update the VST versions of Sytrus and Harmor to fix the velocity response and provide VST3. The VSTs haven't been updated in years.
holy crap, ive been using sytrus since it dropped, ive done pure oscillation imagery purely in sytrus, created some of my most unique sounds ive ever used. one of the most powerful synths ive ever touched and has a huge place in my heart.
When I found out what this thing actually could do pretty easaly back in 2015 or so, I felt so dumb not trying out the simple tricks that would be groundbreaking a few years earlier. A great reminder to never stop being curios and explore everything!
this plug in was my opener in the world of synthesis i love it sooo much...no massive and serum give me this input as this synth did....my first choice for making special basses ..i dont know why but i think im under its curse since over 10 years...thnx imageline i love u all sooo much FL Studio 4 ever !!!!!
Also another cool feature of Sytrus is the fact that you can load original legendary Yamaha DX7 sounds! You can use this to get some cool retro sounds from very popular hit songs from 80s-90s. if you get a .Sysex file and you can import the bank in and modify the sounds for yourself.
Look up 200,000 free sytrus presets on YT. there should be a more in depth tutorial. You can also use them on a free VST dexed and the paid Arturia DX7. @@PCorNPC
One of the most flexible and fun synths I've used. The mod matrix is brilliant. Paired with patcher you can get some absolutely wild wizard like sounds from it. Absolutely Bassed VST.
6:31 Welp, this was unexpected. And you know that the FL community is great when you see them providing the source of educational content such as 3b1b's videos! :D
Glad you helped keep Sytrus alive, its tone city. I like it often, early today in fact there it was working alongside of some guitar and vocals, in the middle of the night, amongst the reverb. Ok, give it MPE next because its got lots of vitamin C.
Honestly one of the most comprehensive demonstrations of a plug-in I have ever seen. FL Studio users are going to be too powerful for us Reason users. 😂
Sytrus is defietly one of the most complex and best FM synths available. I think it's totally underrated and overlooked. Only wish I'd have for it would be some kind of "vintage" mode, which makes it sound more like the Yamaha stuff (DX7, OPM/YM2151, YM2612, OPL, etc.).
@@stephandelaat Semi-true since FM synthesis is a very complex topic to get into with the wider range of possibilities. Complexity is the key when working with this level of synthesis so it's better that people getting into it already have a baseline level of understanding and knowledge prior. Hence why they probably stuck some presets into it mostly for users that only understand average level changes such as messing with ADSR and envelope filters. Sytrus really does it well but it honestly could use a revamp in the layout if anything. Image line plugins seem to all feel so dated for that very reason alone and I believe that's the biggest reason most are underrated. Same way that Absynth sort of got left behind and under looked after years until it eventually got dropped by Native.
@@FL_STUDIO Why would i use a synth with a million options and then just use the presets? Sorry i do not mean to sound so harsh. You guys have build the right mechanics and the synth has huge potential but it lacks a propper GUI.
@@運命の人Bryan You make some great points but i do not agree on the presets. If you want to learn a synth the first thing you need to do is start with the default sound and then start sculpting the sound. That will learn you the mechanics of a synth. After that you can use the presets as starting points.
My fav thing to use in Sytrus is a single cycle of an NES triangle wave to get that buzzy, aliased sound, but add all the functionality of the operators and filters.
Super good video! Interesting how Sytrus uses phase mod instead of frequency mod - seems like a waveshape used for phase modulation is frequency modulating using the derived version of the waveshape
Managed to score a mint used GPD Win3 and converted it instantly into a mobile studio. The joysticks and triggers and buttons are MIDI mappable to do some very cool pitch bends and other morphs in real time performance mode. It's super small, my eyes bug out at its tiny screen, but it's actually useable and it just impresses me to no end. Keep the rock alive, and eachother.
I appreciate the possibilities of Sytrus, but man is it hard to understand completely, even with hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of using FL Studio and other synths such as Serum. The amount of knobs is simply overwhelming to know what I would want to tweak to get a sound I'm perhaps after and I'm often driven to other synths instead or simply don't touch Sytrus at all (sadly).
Sytrus was my go-to synth for many years but I've mostly switched to Vital because it can stack/chain modulation, something I've always missed in Sytrus.
ima have to come back to this video when I don't have a headache cus like this is slightly more complex compared to the "make guitar loud" music that I usually do
I remember seeing Seamless do a how to bass tutorial using sytrus back in 2012/2013-ish and was completely blown away with the sounds he made because at the time I thought of sytrus as kind of a cheap and not very good sounding vst, but oh boy was I ever proved wrong lol.
I wish there were a Fl Studio Bible video series on just Sytrus, like a subscription based educational content. You have a lot of companies selling useless synths and effects, which has considerably degraded music. Also I would love to see Fl Studio professionals show us the process of making songs in different genres, it would do a lot of remediation to fix the music industry. For example, the loopeye feature in elastik would be a great addition to fl studio as you can see a graphical geometrical representation of sound waves as you design a song.
Cool tutorial! I always loved Sytrus, so it's great to see some additional information. I would appreciate some small UX improvements though, working with stuff like envelopes, portamento or sequences feels weird. Same with Ogun. I'm looking forward Harmor tutorial as well.
