Because Latinas aren’t allowed on mainstream television unless they sound sufficiently uneducated and “foreign” enough for a white middle class audience.
They don't exaggerate, they create the accent so does the woman who plays red. They are completely North American that's why they don't have a Latina accent as they were born and grew up in America

I can't figure out why Jackie got billed as a season regular, but Diane is billed with the temps/guests. They're rather a package deal, so that didn't make sense.

The only reason I started watching OITNB is because someone told me a character had my name. I honestly started crying because I always found my name to be so ugly. Especially since I live in the south and people feel the need to call me MAR-it-Z-a. 😑
