you forgot to mention why the southern cross is used so much! or maybe it was hard research idk, but the southern cross is important because it is what guided the Māori to NZ, because Polynesians used the stars in the sky to navigate the sea!
@@amarni8117 Tongans and Samoans are related and essentially the same people, Polynesians, and similar in looks and language and culture. Cook Island and New Zealand Maori are related to each other and very similar in looks, language and culture.

Wow, I have no knowledge of Romanian language but I know my own mother tongue Hindi has roots in Sanskrit (one of the component of the ancient Proto-Indo European Language). So even if I didn't knew exactly what it meant, the sounds and the letter arrangements seemed quite familiar to me until I realised that in Sanskrit that phrase would be written as "Câtham asi incam vayun" which is shockingly similar to how it is written as well as spoken in Romanian and carrying the same meaning too! Mind Blown!

The Maori of New Zealand are Polynesians they are related to the Samoans, Hawaiians, Tongans, Easter Islanders, Tahitians, Cook Islanders etc. Their ancestors were voyagers who user the stars, sea and wind to navigate the Pacific.

@@gowthamm2262 I teach in Korea. When I went to see the Olympics, there was an area with postcards and mailboxes. I'm just surprised that it took so long to go out. My family and friends also got theirs late.
That flag thing was so stupid. No one asked for it and no one wanted it, it was basically just a dumb political stunt by the former prime minister John Key at the taxpayer's expense. Thankfully we have a much better Prime Minister now :)

Romanian here. The band is called E-An-Na(pronounced Eh-Ahn-Nah). "Viu"(Alive) is the name of one of their albums. They're jokingly referred to as shepard metal because they like to use that as a theme in their songs.

I put this comment on your other video but I'm really curious where your pronunciation for Māori comes from. I've never heard a Māori person pronounce it the way you do. They've always said "Maa-ree", (with a rolled 'r') and not "Mow-ree" like you say it. The macron (the line over the a) indicates it's a long "a" sound, is in "car" (and there's an iwi where I live who do not like using macrons and actually write Māori as Maaori too). I've also Googled multiple pronunciation guides online and they say it the way all the Māori I know say it - "Maa-ree" not "Mow-ree". So if you ever read this comment would you mind telling us your source? Cheers!

I’m fairly certain that the tattoos you featured were predominately Tahitian rather than Maori. Maori tattoo generally have koru throughout, which represents the new growths of the fern, which is often used to represent New Zealand.
Here you have a country that recently voted to change their flag, and you barely mention it in a video dedicated to discussing their flag. As someone from outside NZ who is actually interested in it and the country, I really wish you talked about it more: what its design signifies, what were some of the other (non joke designs), and when will this new design be adapted? Pretty disappointing as a Patreon supporter of yours who was looking forward to learning about NZ's new flag. Will it not be adapted now?
I’m part Maori and I don’t care if people who aren’t Maori get traditional Maori tattoos as long as they understand what the tattoos mean, I think most others will agree
I laugh when Americans pronounce British towns/cities. This coming from a half American who learned the pronunciations by being around Brits. Woe is the one who mispronounces British place names 😆
