Vasiliev sometimes seems more like a force of nature! 6 pirouettes and he's still on half-pointe, 4 tours in second, spectacular jumps. Yet, comparing him with Tsvirko in the recent ballet cinema, Vasiliev is still very precise. Tsvirko also has a spectacular jump, but he's often imprecise on his other steps, as if he's not quite sure where his arms and legs are supposed to end up. I've only seen Kaptsova do Adeline and bits of Fille, but she is delightful here. She sharpens the sense of feminine vs. masculine and does have a Kirov/Mariinsky sort of perfection while still projecting that nice sense of fluid plastique. Thanks for posting!
It's been a loooong time since a really extraordinary male dancer didn't come up. The last years have given much more great female dancers. But I think Vasiliev is like a male "assoluta". Reverence to him.
Personally, I much prefer Natalia's electric ways as they perfectly match Ivan's (he was amazing here as usual) but Nina is quite graceful though not my cup of tea! x
