Flame rectification and physics behind it ( flame based diode )

Flame has a property that can be used to rectify AC voltage. Basically the flame can act as a diode, However the amount of current that can pass through the flame is rather small so it has limited application. One of the application of flame rectification is to detect if there is a flame or not. This can act as a safety device and can provide information if the burner has flame or not.
I will explain the physics behind flame rectification which is more or less similar to how vacuum diodes work.
Due to busy life during the past 40 days i could not make any videos. Must work on my channel and make new good videos. But anyway people do not watch so motivation is not that high.
Finance: N=68
subs=2692
Available budget (N): 2692-100-68*(68+1)=-2100
Storage limit: 2^ln(2692)=238,53

Wow, finally found this great video using an oscilloscope to display the flame rectification. Many furnaces use this for flame detection. The probe must be cleaned yearly to work. Thank you.

A good explanation of the physics behind flame rectication and the relation to vacuum diodes. Thanks!

really cool! ive seen other videos showcasing this phenomenon but none as clearly explained and thourough as yours. just a thought, perhaps this is like what happens in vacuum tubes, and maybe, if you inserted a 'grid' in between the electrodes you could get some sort of control over the rectification?

Really interesting. It is my first time to see flame diode.

Thanks Yiming, Indeed it is amazing, so much that we know nothing about 😅. By the way, once again congratulations.

amazing video i wached few videos about the flam rectification but icould not understand how flam can act as diod. what is aplication of using flam as a diod beside using it in furnace (HVAC). THANKS

Please explain "decay"

Decay in this case is that the density of electrons or ions decreases with distance.
